Tips before buying laptops. 1. Screen quality - see sRGB value of laptop screen higher the better - 60-65% is good 2. Color is changing if screen is tilted. 3.reflective (indoors) vs mat screen (outdoor) 4. Brightness higher than 300 nets for outdoor 5. stylus for teachers to write. 6. Laptop should not bend easily 7. See hinge quality of laptop - while writing if the screen is moving/tilting 8. See keyboard quality if you type a lot 9. Fan noise- if doing casual work the fans must not blow continuously , if doing heavy work it's fine , go for reputable companies making laptop. 10. See fingerprint quality if buying 11. Must have ssd drive or hybrid of ssd and hdd 12. Processor must be the latest generation i.e 11th gen as of 10/06/21

Another point to keep in mind before buying is heating issue, Check reviews, etc to see if there's any heating issues in that model because heat kills your laptop's overall life and it can reduce battery lifespan to even less than half.

agreed my motherboard was burnt just in 4 months. I wasn't even playing any games on it just autocad and blender. It was hp and they made it so hard for replacement, i wanted replacement and they just replaced the motherboard. It's still overheating, i again complained and said use laptop for lighter tasks. I was so pissed off. Be aware.

i would recommend buying a laptop from offline store "if possible". first try then buy.(referring to trackpad , keyboard , screen) edit: if your target laptop model is not available offline then you can go for online, no problem.but i m trying to specify the user experience (quality of trackpad , quality of keyboard , display experience). has anyone heard of "oneplus experience store" ?? i am trying to specify like that.

Asus s14 has low audio quality, and not that good performance instead, you can go for asus vivobook flip 14 TM420UA-EC501TS( Ryzen 5 or 7 it's your choice). it is the best.

I hope you read this Ranjit sir, i am currently going into engineering college (iit guwahati) and wanted to buy a laptop for simulating stuff in AUTOCAD and coding. I gathered all the data i require to search for the best laptop i could find in my budget (50-60k) but there are just too many laptop listings out there and hence selection becomes very difficult. I would suggest you to make a video in which you go by price range and give examples of how you expect a laptop to be in that price ranges so that we can get a clearer idea.

I am mechanical engineering student... Just Bought Lenovo Legion 5i... Doesn't look like a "Gaming Laptop"... Using Creo, ansys... Works like charm... My budget too was around 60k But added 7k to it... So that I dont get any issues

An SSD upgrade to an older laptop and a Clean install of Windows 10 is equivalent buying a new laptop. (500 GB cost around 4000-5000 bucks.) And may be after 2 years you can buy a new laptop.

Hi Ranjit, This was informative. Can you do a video on the processor series. I am asking about the letter at the end like H vs U vs T.

Most of the tips you gave can be applied only if we have bought the laptop first - like hinge quality, screen colour shifting, fans coming up early etc. Because proper reviews are not available for each and every laptop. Reviewers mostly review those that are already being promoted by the companies. For the processor thing, Ryzen processors starting from 3rd generation can be considered because they have good thermal performance. For Intel, any processor above the 7th generation is good because the integrated graphics have been significantly improved after that generation. And core count was also increased. But it is sad and enfuriating to see that online stores like Amazon are selling way too outdated laptops. 🙁🙁🙁

I am considering the HP PAVILION GAMING 15-ec0101ax. The overall configuration of which is as follows: ‌8 GB RAM ‌1 TB HDD with RYZEN 5 3550H / 512 GB SSD with i5 9th gen ‌4 GB graphics Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 The cost of the Ryzen one is around 54k and for the intel one , it is almost 60k. Should I go for this one as my main purpose is to use Autodesk Revit Software smoothly ?

ChromeOS laptops are still not relevant in India as they cost about the same as windows ones, come with weaker processors, and is Cloud Based (Even cities don't have reliable internet). Its mostly targeted at American/European schools where schools bulk and provide in bulk to students. A tablet would make more sense than a Chromebook.
