I’m surprised you said there’s nothing really on the southern part of the park when really I had one of my most epic hikes ever!! Walking through the dessert to find a real Oasis! Palm trees 🌴 and water! Unreal sight! we also decided to walk all the way down and enjoy the setting. The trail is called lost palms

Yeah, its great, but compared to the sheer amount of trails in the northern part of the park, it def is less exciting

As a local for over 20 years, I'm glad that you stayed with the tourist spots. There are great places that you left out, my favorites, and they won't be over run by tourists. Thank you

I agree with this list. I went there over the weekend, too cold and very windy at 45F. I definitely come back during the Spring with warmer temp and stargaze. After one day of seeing rock formation, about tired out.

Spring will be even windier. Summer is about the only season where hopefully the wind won't blow. This is the desert - winds and extreme temperatures. If it bored you that much, maybe stay in L.A. We don't need your ilk's shallowness posing with the Joshua Tree sign or sitting on the turtle (I was neighbors with the artist). We don't need the long lines you tourists have created, which have all but made it impossible to visit the park. The park's vibe has changed because of tourism. Just remember - when you stay at an Airbnb, you are contributing to a company's destruction of our neighborhoods and the increase in homeless families here who have no place to rent anymore. Let that set in!

@@jpadicecoffee9812 That's what it sounded like to me, but I'll give you that one. Funny what you said about downgrading experiences because that's exactly what tourists do to us - downgrade our experiences. Look down their noses. You get the picture. That said, summer will have less wind.

@@susansimmons3740 Well, when I go to certain parks, I like to enjoy the places and more so when I can be away from the crowd and drama, no noise, and leave no trace. At public parks; I don't carry with me the attitude that the locals are unwelcoming or other tourists are out to give other people inconveniences\drama. Every time I go, I contribute to the local economy: hotel, food, and coffee . America is a big place and I'm here to see what Kevin's guides and his own experiences are.

If you want to experience the park when it's quiet and there aren't crowds, go during summer. It's quite obvious tourists don't think about the locals. That's why we "have an attitude." It's an invasion of selfish people who tout, like you just did, how they add to the economy. There's always a trade-off.

I would add Hall of Horror to this video. Great spot for exploring. Finding the actual hall is a bit of a secret still, and its still not so easily accessible, so I think its worth the time exploring to find a unique experience.

I'm visiting riverside this summer and I can't wait to go here. Is it free?

I was there in 1984, and we came across a giant basketball shaped boulder that was hollowed out inside, so it was like a big bubble made of rock, with a small entrance on the underside, with another rock blocking it that you roll away to get in. Once inside, my friend on the outside blocked the entrance, so no light or sound got in. it was like sensory depravation...Does anyone know what i'm talkin about? it was a long time ago, so the details might be a little sketchy.

this is one of the few parks that you can definitely see in 1 day only. From this list I'd pick your top 3-4 places and if you're up for a long day you'll have no problem seeing them all. You could also do a 1 night overnight trip and also see the Mojave Desert

Hmm I can’t quite remember but for whatever reason I have $35 in my head. Campsites usually range from $15 to $100+ based on tent site vs RV hookup, and if it’s one of the more popular sites or not

Joshua, colonizers “discovery” name. Has nothing to do with biblical myths. Offensive names like: Easter Island, Passion Fruit, Crown of Thorns, etc. Religious propagandist names.

Looks like a great place for radio control crawlers.
