Back when the pally taunt did damage, me and a friend could keep a mob walking back and forth between us, never hitting us until death. I don'T see it as over powered but was a lot of fun.

It was really good for PvP, most tank classes knew taunt would put a target in combat but pally taunt could actually deal damage and break spells or effects on a 40 yd range, It wasn't exactly amazing but a 40yd range, short CD, instant damage spell isnt something melee classes have widely available.

@@Storyfrombolvardurability used to (maybe still does) have a chance to have a point tick off every spell or ability that hits with it. So back in BC if you were doing a long raid like Kara, when I was off tanking and using a ton of cleave attacks so the durability went down pretty fast. We made it once to illhoof, and my weapon broke midfight (even tho it wasn't even showing yellow before the fight started, cause I was just constantly doing cleave attacks on the imps. I started to lose aggro until I hunted though my bags and equipped my skinning knife, that allowed me at least to use my abilities even though my damage was reduced. One of my prouder "think on my feet" moments that prevented a wipe, although I never went raiding without a spare mainhand weapon after that.

For Shadow of Death, one little unknown quirk with the talent was that if you were in an instance and you came back as a ghoul and ran through the instance portal, you'd no longer be a ghoul once you zoned out. This meant instead of taking a corpse run, depending on the instance and how far in you were it was more useful to run out and back in.

I would like to contribute Protection Warriors during the first patch of Legion. It all came down to a single talent called "Vengeance." Vengeance caused a bouncing effect for protection warriors where using Ignore Pain would reduce the rage cost of Heroic Strike, and if you used Heroic Strike it would reduce the rage cost of Ignore Pain. The thing was this bouncing effect in it's initial stage, dropped both abilities basically to only costing 5 rage, alongside with the warrior having a permanent bubble, not even mentioning ANY of their other defensive cooldowns. Combine this with the other talent that replaces Victory Rush with one that's on a 35 second cooldown. The warrior could pull an entire zone and not fear dying.

I'm shocked WotLK's Ardent Defender didn't show up here. "Damage that takes you below 35% health is reduced by 20%. In addition, attacks which would otherwise kill you cause you to be healed by up to 30% of your maximum health (amount healed based on defense). This healing effect cannot occur more often than once every 2 min." It was Warrior's Last Stand, but passive. I was a pally tank and even I thought it was OP. Didn't stop me from talenting into it.

So fun little tidbit about the Twilight devastation ability.... in our raid, we had a warrior and druid tank, our druid tank had some of the best gear she could have for our progression as well as max twilight devastation on all her gear.... and having so much HP as a bear, she was often sitting at 3rd or 4th sometimes first place for damage, and a lot of the times when a tank swap had to happen, she would not be allowed to even attack the boss because just normal attacking did so much damage and generated so much threat that she would pull aggro off the warrior with the warrior having no way to hold up against how stupidly strong her threat generation was.... It was kinda funny hearing him say to her "no get away from the boss, stop hitting it! Go help with adds!" Because he couldn't keep threat off her. Also the druid was the mother of the warrior tank so that was even more funny.

I didn't play much during MoP, only dropping in a bit on the end but i really remember the Kil'jaedens Cunning as pretty, as unlike Cataclysm where (my way) of playing destor had been to use pretty much the entire spellbooks as well as item interactions for a total of like 25 buttons to press constantly.... returning to MoP was pretty much only "cast Immolate & chaos bolt then spam Incinerate until either the key or your finger gives up", so being able to move while casting the 1 spell you were almost constancy casting seemed like a very nice talent, and it was. really missed it when it got removed and i had to stand still like all the other casters... except the shamans, i would curse them! but i'm not sure if we still got any curses.

You missed a good one: Touched by the Light talent for prot pal in WotLK. For a while, it gave SP per Stamina points (it was later changed to give SP per Strenght). 21/50/0 was pretty common before 3.2, it was insane. You got so much passive mitigation, 1 min off Divine Shield cooldown, 30 seconds off the Hammer of Justice cooldown, a 30 second cooldown silence and daze in Avenger's Shield, a bunch of stamina(which only meant more spell power), cheat death every 2 minutes through Ardent Defender and tons of free mana against melee with Holy Shield and Redoubt combined with Blessing of Sanctuary. And I think there was also a talent, which increased critical healing by a lot while you had Sacred Shield on. All of that on top of Hand of Sacrifice and Divine Guardian and the usual high paladin armour, utility and survivability. It was too good a trade off not to take and of course, had to be nerfed. But it was fun while it lasted.

there was one boss that was impossible due to the MC mechanics it had, basically required one person to have the skip unlocked, and N'Zoth himself was a pita because the downstairs add would get kited in all the wrong directions usually, but other than that the 30 tank (or the dumb 29 tank plus a lock) runs were hilarious and fun af, remember they only really wanted a lock for crack rocks/summoning in new ppl so i would b the guy swapping back n forth between my lock n tank just to keep summons rolling and candy for e1 while still getting the sstam buff from a 30th tank. and lets also not forget the pre nerf azerite essence where the 3% stam buff was multiplicative b4 it got nerfed to additive due to ppl doing the 30 tank runs. Naowh even did a stream post nerf of 30 prot warriors just for lulz

I think it was in BFA, at the start, where we had a trail for hunter that increased our main pets dmg by a flat among, depending how many pets you had out, it was deemed a worthless skill from icy-veins or so. However, as a player with tons of toys, i tent to macro a few toys into my "iwin" (just to make them more fun to use), and somehow, i had a azeroth piece with this trail on. Long story short, there was a toy (from archeology) that spawned 20 "pets" (Scarab something), ofc, been a toy, those pet didnt do anything, but, those scarabs where still counting as pets somehow. So, when i was in a boss battle, i (as always) pop all my CD (and tho, use tons of toys, inclusing this scarab toy) and my pet gained insane among of dmg and the boss died within 5-10 sec. It took me some time to figure out why my pet (each 10 min) gained a lot of dmg, at first, i was sure it was just my proc and buffs used together that gained this dmg, but, at some point, it hitted me, what if the scarab toys 20 pet, really do count towards this trail, but, that means its kinda broken, since i then suddenly can gain XXXdmg times 20, just cuz of this toy. But hey, it was fun while it lasted, almost having a 10 min pew pew CD for fun :p I did ofc report this "bug" to blizzard, tho, i didnt see any patch note whatsoever about this, but, i know they did nerf it (that, and that they later just removed the passive skills) XD. (happen before season 1 started in BFA). So, in my book, this is a small hidden "passive?" buff we hunter had.

+5 Weapon skill in vanilla and classic WoW. Using the corrisponding weapon effectively received a 3% hit bonus and reduced glancing blows by half. As a passive for humans for maces and swords and orc for axes, this generated a huge tank threat bonus and dps output bonus. Other melee classes would have to gear or talent into bonus, and with the exception of Rogues' Mace Specialization there was no other way to get + weapon skill for maces. This lead to a mace prioritization for humans in alliance raids. Orc had to wait until Blackwing Lair to find a raid level one handed axe to weild.

Hi what about the passive ability from the pally trinket from hell fire peninsula that gives crusade 3 charges in the end of wod so the pally could cast crusade at the beginning of a boss fight then pop it during hero/ blood then at the end of the of the boss fight perfect for when boss fights that you had phases that you had to burn the boss down

Well, in warlords of draenor it was more of a talent at level 45 for BM hunters, but spirit bond was an awesome passive ability that as long as you had your pet out you and your pet would regain, either 3% of your maximum health every 2 seconds or 2% of your maximum health every 3 seconds, I forget which. But either way that was a totally op and impressive ability/talent. I was actually able to solo about 10 of those giant level 100 bulls in nagrand with my terropine

I'd love to know what it was, but right after the Onyxia fight was re-released in Wrath, Assassination Rogues got a rebalance and something went badly wrong (or right, if you played one!). I was doing about 25-35% more than the next highest dps, depending on the fight. If I remember, it was rebalanced again the next day.

There was a moment at the end of 6.x (or was it 5.x?) when multistrike was somehow Reckoning size broken for rogues. And my favourite all time nerf is ofc: Dig rat. It was possible to pick up, drop, and shadowstep. The day after a rogue spent 4 hours soloing Patchwerk with the help of it they immediately nerfed it so you couldn't shadowstep it any longer (coz rogues can't have nice things when they get creative).

I think a very ignored OP passive was one Holy Priests had in BC. Once you were hit by a crit you couldn't be hit by another one for 6 seconds. This didn't even have a cooldown so you basically could only be crit once every six seconds. It even took priority over guaranteed crits, it just wasn't picked because it was basically at the very bottom of the holy tree and nothing else that far down was really worth it.

Sword Specialization was broken in Vanilla. Because it's proc rate was just like mace specialization, the slower the weapon, the higher the proc chance. What made it broken was that it proc'd off everything, even itself. So a warrior with all their instant attacks isn't really swinging just once every 3.6 seconds, but the proc calculator was working as if they did. So there were instances that weren't all that rare where the warrior would Mortal Strike crit you, and 2 or 3 Sword Spec procs happened, that also crit, that were immediately followed by an auto-attack that also sword spec proc'd. You're just about dead, he has a full rage bar from all that damage, and Execute is glowing bright on his action bar. Way back in the day, I kept a screenshot of the combat log that showed me effectively 2 shotting a fully geared rogue because an auto-attack and Mortal Strike combined for 7 sword spec procs. 9 attacks in the span of one GCD from a 'slow' weapon. I think I said wtf as much as he did.

I always felt that the CC's in MoP were awesome and instead of eliminating them, Blizz should have given diminishing returns if you use them too often (resets after x amount of time) and given everyone else a limited immunity if they get chained (resets after x amount of time). Does that make any sense? Blizz could have taken this approach for a lot of OP things and left the fun in the game.

So there's a passive ability back in the mists days from the 5.2 patch I think it was that introduced those sort of PVP campaign story area's, Well if you were a horde mage you could spell steal multiple 'seal of vengeance' wich would do additional damage (each treated seperately) as holy damage based on the damage you did, So an Arcane mage could 1 shot people and bosses if they had 3-4 stacks of this as they'd do 1 arcane blast and then hit someone for 3-4 copies of seal of vengeance, Or Arcane Missiles where each damage event was also proccing it.
