I was also in the otome fanbase when Princess Debut, Sweet Fuse and Hakouki came out. A decade passed and my backlog of otome games is growing bigger and bigger and I'm so happy that the genre is ever growing. I loved how you explained each game in your list, including the story-romance balance and how you felt about each heroine. Nice list. I can't even try to imagine what my list is like. A decade of otome memories is a lot to go through. I'm also seeing commonalities with the love interests you like, and the types you like are not as common so I'm happy to see those LIs do have appeal. (Playboy, genki, self-sacrificing) I'm curious to see what non-console ones you like, if any.

Hooray for knowing what Princess Debut is, lol! I haven't played too many non-console otome games, honestly. I experimented with a few mobile ones (Chocolate Temptation was one I liked), and I have Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome, but I haven't beaten it yet. I have a Mac, so I don't really have many Steam options, but if you have any suggestions for ones you really enjoyed, I'm game to try (though no stat-raisers, I'm not a fan of those).

I have Piofiore, Cafe Enchante, and Code Realize. I have played a little of Piofiore and I like the art what I’ve played so far but I’m been looking for proper happy endings in a visual novel since a lot of content I’ve watched/read has been kinda dark so it’s good to know that Code Realize has that happiness.

I knew most of these but learned about some others that look really good. I'm so thankful for a little list that I could use for recommendations. I really enjoyed this list.

Man I love watching videos of people talking about otome games! I remember I got into otome games bc a lot of animes I enjoyed were based on otome games. Now I can actually play the games so it always makes my day seeing other people also enjoying otome games

Code Realize is my number 1 too :) 💜 I love all of the sequels to it too 💙💙💙 I preferred psychedelica of the black butterfly to psychedelica of the ashen hawk though, and I was very underwhelmed by both of the hakuoki games tbh XD I really want to get Cafe Enchante, it looks so good! 💜💜💜 I really enjoyed collar X Malice too :) I haven't played the sequel though!

I know i'm super late but your comment fit so well since the illustrator of Three Houses is the same as the first game presented in the video ! Her artstyle as evolved quite a bit ever since ! Code Realize is the best also.

I played all of these myself, and honestly they're all so amazing! I'm so happy we were able to play them on vita, I got some of them on switch, new ones keep coming out, I have so much money to save lol!

I find it interesting that in games I have played from this list, my "best boy" is completely different haha

14:00 Yeah, I thought all the routes in Nightshade were great - but I started with one of the most tragic happy endings, and that hit me hard! Goemon is my favorite character, too, and I liked MC Enju, but I thought Hanzō's route was the best written. By the end of the game, everyone's ages make sense, but if you're uncomfortable with the biggest age gap, just pretend she's 4 years older and Hanzō is 4 years younger. It's clearly established that the MC is of age and a talented fighter during the events of the game.

I really like the art style for Collar x Malice, Ive still never checked it out but there was a sale on the eshop and I debated picking it up back then but now I missed the sale. I'm still wondering if I will enjoy Otome games at all.

This helped me find so many games to play when I’d been struggling to decide what was worth my money! I love all your reasonings for each 10/10 very helpful. However Code:Realize as #1??? Man i just finished it and was underwhelmed :-( I’m definitely in the minority on that one it seems. Despite that I’ve decided to subscribe lol thanks for this list!

I think the fact it was one of the earlier Vita otome games out and also playing the two extra fan discs for Code Realize helped push it to the top for me - that and the fact I actually liked all the love interests. Any not on my list you recommend? I am always up for finding a new #1

I have a dream, to one day own an entire bookshelf of otome games.

I just bought my first otome game and finished it recently so I want to find more since I loved it. So I thought your video would be a good place to start however I’m now a little afraid cuz I don’t do well with sad ending. I also am fantastic at choosing good games and so the one I bought was code realize… I honestly hoped that code realize wouldn’t be first just because I wanted to find other games that could cure the hole in my heart having beat all of code realize but I guess I just get to go down the list now…

I just beat Cupid Parasite and that one is very light-hearted. There are bad endings, but they’re optional path endings. I think you might enjoy it!

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on Olympia Soiree if you ever try it. Not enough reviews on otome games so this is good to see.

Hey, can you do a review on the otome game Blood Kiss, it’s an IOS game that has great, art, stories, doesn’t have ads that randomly pop up while playing the game, and depending on what choices you give her an mc that can actually stand up for herself. The game is complete free to play and you can abuse the ad button at the end of each chapter to get five gems. It’s something that definitely takes time to get through completely but a great game for ftp players like me

I also recommend Olympia Soiree that released in 2021, the game blew me away because it had some really good characters, art and music! its on the switch UwU

I did play that one a little bit ago - very pretty! I might make a new video after 2022 on best Switch otome games since so many have come out!

It is on ps vita too but only the switch version is in English

It's only on Vita, I think, but it does exist!

Btw amnesia’s price difference between steam and mobile is ridiculous! Steam (my country) costed around 4$ and on appstore it costed 28$ ish!

I have two ps vita I messed up the battery but I bought a new one. So gonna mod one and other one for my games

Im sad that some of this games are not available on Steam. I have Nintendo Switch but the diferences of prices are a lot... Like "Ciel" I bought it on sale for Steam for USD 0,75 and for Nintendo is USD 25. So a I hope that Piofiore, Cafe Enchante, and Code Realize make their way to Steam

London Detective Mysteria. Limited Run Games did a physical run on it which I grabbed.

uhm... I guess I am more of a story guy and I believe ur picks may not be for me uhm... ;) haha I am a newbe in Otomes I normally like denpa and horror VNs the darker the better. I picked quite a few otome on a sale at Aksys lately tho, I started Café Enchanté and I found it sooo boring... collar x malice I am liking tho, I guess it is darker and far more plot heavy. Code Realise it is bonkers but I mean I dig the fascination for such an over the top story I get it ;)

ive just been hoping and praying to find wlw and sapphic games 😭

Unfortunately that is under another genre (Yuri) due to categorisation of target audience market and it hasn’t hit it up with commercial games as of yet

I can understand why someone would exclude mobile bc of ads, pay walls etc. But why would you exclude PC games? I will play games on console if I've got no other choice, but I always take PC if a game is released on either format. If your console breaks or becomes outdated, you can't play the game again -- not so on PC. You can keep your games forever.

Honestly, it’s mostly because I don’t have a PC that runs Steam, lol. I’ve always been a console gamer. That and I like having physical media - I’m a bit of a collector.

My Top 10 otome games are all Hatoful Boyfriend.

Oh my... Amnesia.... one of the first otome that I played and don't know if it's my favorite or not 😅 it was pain, headache, insomnia but after like 100000 playthroughs I finally got a happy ending with Ukyo and at that time I wanna killed him myself so bad🤣😂 but still good game though.. and maybe a little brainwashing 👀 after Amnesia I always watch walkthroughs, which is much easier and not to think for hours *WHAT THIS BOY WANT FROM ME DAMMIT😖😩* hehehe.. sorry)
