Yeah the new SOTF is garbage. Pre standalone SOTF was the best... but it has just slowly gone downhill after they made it standalone and now just a weird non crafting dino fighting game. TLDR bring back crafting and needing to make saddles for dinos.

Cryos can make raiding so much more worth it than just raiding for resources and bps

I wish they would concentrate on fixing the game before churning out new content, but I know it is wishful thinking. Asa is just such a unstable buggy mess. Crashing, floating baby dinos etc.

The floating baby dinos is really all I've seen (PS5 here). There is a bug where you start seeing into your character, but there are fixes for that. Lag here and there, but that is almost any game.

@@user-rw4xi8sm8h there's so many issues. Aquatic tames randomly explode. 50/50 is still a thing. Tames still sink into floors. The game crashes a lot for everyone i know on pc. Sometimes chain crashing where you crash 3 or 4 times in a row trying to get back into game. Supply drops are bugged into terrain, sometimes they turn invisible when you get close to them. I could go on. Plus there are baffling QoL issues like no FSR in game despite all consoles using AMD gpus and the game running like ass without upscaling. Shit, the Favorites function in server list doesn't even work, last time i checked. The game runs so poorly most people are resorting to using console commands like r.volumetricfog 0 to try and make it playable on like Low presets on good pcs.

@jbassguy571 yeah some of that sucks. Issues like the favorites not working isn't that bad. It didn't work on old ark either. Consoles seem to be running really smooth.

I really hate what they did with SOTF. Old SOFT was soooo good man. It just needed UI and optimisation updates and it would have been basically perfect.

Maybe it will be like were you can buy instruments or decorations that dont effect anything but you can still make them

Kinda wanna see Ark 2 eventually. I know some folks are weirded by some of the ideas (souls-y style combat, 3rd person, etc) but I kind of like that cos I just wanna see new ideas, and honestly, I'm getting a little fatigued by the grind.

The paid packs add new items as well as skins, like the frontier pack is going to add trains and traintracks. Theres also mention of a creature that you get with the pack.

Yeah I mention this. The creature is just the same as what happened with island. So creature will be free I think. They just mean it will drop as well as the skins pack

I do not mind paid dlcs I do not even mind monthly subscription for AMAZING SERVERS with no LAG during 70/70 pop and events active. As long as they pump some of it back into the game and take the rest... no more electric cars please.... Ark is a gem like no other, keep pumping content to it. Skins are a way to generate money and it is the correct approach BUT they need to balance it around pve/pvp.

I agree with the skins. I think it's a good thing for the game to continue to make money. The best example is rust. Also glad server stability is number 1 priority judging how bad the lag is right now. I'm guessing raids will be as bad as they were back in legacy days atm.

I always thought they should do some sort of paid skins, I am fine with it as long as it is primarily cosmetic.

HOD, when wildcard said the DLC would be free, im pretty sure they meant ONLY the old dlc from ASE aka scorched-genesis. 99% certain that any new maps made specifically for ASA will have to be paid for aswell as any other new dlc like the frontier packs. dlc is there only way of continuous income and paying for servers is a constant drain, they cant afford to give ALL dlc for free, just the old stuff we already bought in ase.

I'd wager that their original plan was to add all the stuff that is going to be in these "adventure packs" into the remastered maps and charge for each map or bundle of maps, back when they were going to sell it all with Ark 2 for $200 or whatever, but once the community raised a stink about it, they decided to throw in the maps "for free" with the Island ASA purchase, and then do a cheeky move and strip that extra content out of each map and make them into adventure pack dlc so they can still get our money and have their cake and eat it.

considering scorched earth was supposed to drop this month and is now pushed back to march, i find it laughable that they claim they'll drop a new map every 2 months seeing as scorched earth, arguably the smallest and easiest, has already been pushed back 3 months. at BEST we'll get 2 maps in the entirety of 2024 and i dont think we'll have ALL of the Ark Evolved content until 2026-27, if they dont just completely abandon it at that time. also, as they're now planning to start charging for mods/skins, you can bet your ass they'll charge us $20 or so for each "new" map

Crystal Isles is my favourite PvP official but I want them to deal with cheaters and the Hatzegopteryx to win a creature vote

Im pretty Sure the talking about a Real New creature for each map and for Se im guessing one of 2 options:einher the Bison, it would fit the wild West style of the pack and could also pull wagons. Or the gorgonops because in how many votes its been and it fits the Outlaw style very well

I like HODs optimism about the lack of ARK 2 update 😂. They didnt update because in true Wildcard fashion itll be delayed until 2030

there was no mention of ASA after multiple events for months so saying ARK2 wasnt announced doesnt mean anything, and there is no way theyre total focused on ASA, they still need to update and maintain ASE and i would bet they have resources working on ARK 2

Of course I did. Don't want anyone buying it now from watching my footage. No one knew it would go down like it did with the devs actually quitting. I loved the game it had so much potential I can't believe it happened like that. I still don't think it was premeditated. But yeah I can't leave vids up for people to see to buy it. Id happily pay 4.99$ a month to play ark knowing 100% there is no cheaters or INI abuse. Make everyone who plays ark run some type of "Battle eye" client BUT THAT ACTUALLY WORKED.. A FAIR GAME OF ARK PVP IS ALL I DREAM OF. I WILL PAY ANY PRICE. id even happily buy the expansions again. Making sure there are no exploiters / cheaters will make wildcard win in the end. I will pay the price. I love the game that much and want it to succeed and be the greatest game it is capable of being.

I wish I could play ark again. Old school pvp around release of SE was some of the funnest gaming I've had. It's really been a slow, corrosive downhill from then between tek tier, meshing, built-in cheating by changing settings, exploits, pay to win, devs/publishers cheating in their own game....etc. It's just not worth my time. Wish they put this much effort into making it esport level polish and balance.

Servers are gonna perform the same even with cryopods. Even with cryos in ASE multiple servers were at BASE 180 ping (in game not what the server info before joining tells you) because of all the buildings + breeding dinos that were out. SErvers will be "good" for like 2-3 days, then right back to being the same ol' shitty servers.

aslong as they keep the camo skins to only being skinned on ghille etc i dont see a reason to be salty

"I hope they use the money to support the game." History has proven that snailgames/swc would invest in anything, but back into ark. ASA was a cash grab. They are not even doing the bare minimum hiring more people to handle their support tickets. And now they announced 2 years roadmap for the DLC maps which were included into the ASA price, 1 year was whatever, but 2? And instead of prioritizing of them working on the maps getting them quicker they announce "adventure packs" so they have to spend time developing that, because paid skins paid mods wasn't enough. Every DLC map having an adventure pack is absolutely absurd and we know that will be P2W in pvp.

Warning.... dont buy this game unless you want to crash 24/7. I cant even open my engrams without it instantly crashing every time.
