I say the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaina movie was ruined because of Jonathan Majors' controversy with Grace Jabbari resulting in a recast at the role of Kang the Conqueror. But I don't know if Kang is still the Thanos-leveled threat the MCU is still looking for now.

It makes you think how similar what happened on Rust is to what happened on The Crow some 30 years ago, and how differently both instances are treated. I know someone will say they are very different and that "It's not the same at all", but when it happened on the set of Rust, my first thought was Brandon Lee on The Crow.

Mine too. The accidental shooting of Brandon Lee was treated as it should have been: a horrible, tragic accident that was the result of many, many small things being overlooked in an overworked production staff. The accidental shooting on Rust was treated as a chance for right-wing media to crucify Alec Baldwin.

We maybe adding Ezra Miller to this list soon. The star of Warner Bros DC film The Flash and he's also in the J.K Rowling's Fantastic Beast film. He is completely out of control. From choking a woman, getting booted from one club only to go to another one and being aggressive towards another woman and a man at this club in Hawaii then getting arrested, bailed out by a nice couple who allowed him to stay at their place, only for him to burst into their bedroom threatening them then stealing their wallet and other items.

One of the points there is that Nordberg is the butt of the joke in those movies. He spends the first movie being constantly injured. If he were portrayed as a hero it would rub people the wrong way, but in a body cast not so much.

My favorite piece of Wesley Snipes Douchiness to come out of Blade Trinity was during the filming of one of the film's alternate endings where Blade wakes up on an autopsy table, Snipes refused to open his eyes despite pleading from the director. So to get around it, they had to go in post and DIGITALLY ADD Snipes opening his eyes with CGI. They had to CG Snipes opening his eyes because he was being such prima donna.

From my understanding they tied his hands behind his back on this film and, understandably, he didn't like it. He knew the movie was going to be garbage. And it was. Because of the loose story and pretty face implants they just had to have...not his obvious anger and disappointment over being told they can add to or change what he already built, only better. They failed miserably.

I get Scar-Jo's point. Acting is making yourself into something you are not, it's your job as an actor to convince the audience that you are the character. did people complain when Jonathan Groff, who is gay, played the straight guy Jesse in "Glee". Or when Neil Patrick Harris played the womanizing Barney Stinson? Or when Leo played mentally challenged in "Gilbert Grape? Going by that logic then gay characters should only be played by gay actors..

unfortunately Due to how society has change (while I understand where she is coming from) while yes you have some people who are okay with someone who is not transgender playing as one, there are who who feel like transgender characters shouldn't be played by those who are not. Political Correctness Gone Mad? Maybe, to some it's a unfortunate implication. And you will always have some movies overshadowed by controversy, due to the fact that some people feel like some things are no longer acceptable. it's a touchy subject. Do I care if a transgender character is played by one? nope. I'm not trying to attack you, it's just people feel like some things shouldn't be tolerated anymore, as to some they feel like it's taking a role from an actual transgender actor with limited career prospects (in some cases).

BUT! Since ANYBODY can be gay, trans, mentally handicapped, ect. then there shouldn’t be any standards towards that. If those people don’t have the same opportunity roles as us then we should give the same opportunity roles, not just give them roles that are only related with their conditions or lifestyle. I'm so sick of people running with the Wesley Snipes crap as if Goyer and Oswalt didn't have personal Axes to grind. People will buy anything as long as someone they like is the one telling the Story. Oswalt was never important to the Film, just in it, and Goyer wrote a Bad Script that he had to direct, because no one else wanted to, knowing how bad the Screenplay was. Wesley never wanted him, but New Line did it anyway. No surprise that it turned out as badly as it did.

Halle Berry, Beyoncé, Zendaya, both Key and Peele, and Obama all have biological white mothers. Lenny Kravitz’s dad is a white Russian Jew. Dwayne The Rock Johnson is half black, half Samoan. Jennifer Beals and the singer Halsey look white, but are both half black on their father’s side. And even Slash from Guns ‘N Roses has a black mother.

I'd still like to see "Birth of a Nation". I grew up where the Nat Turner Rebellion took place and I'm interested to see how the film handles it. I did notice one thing that was definitely inaccurate in the clip. Turner was hanged from a tree, not a scaffold. The tree, which was beside a local high school, stood for over a century afterwards and was cut down after it became infected with a disease and began to rot. Yeah, it's a small thing but when you grow up hearing about it, it sticks out in your head. An excellent dramatic look at the event is a program PBS aired several years ago called, "A Troublesome Property". It consists of three short films, each portraying Turner from different perspectives and the various versions surrounding how and why the revolt started.

What's next? You only want cops to be portrayed by real life cops? You only want deaf characters to be portrayed by actors who are deaf in real life? It's a movie, not a documentary. 2 reasons for that. 1 there are trans and autistic actors in hollywood and they never ever get roles so the one movie comes along where they have a strong shot at getting the lead in a major motion picture and it goes to the hot blond. 2 Those of us that haven't gone through their experiences can never replicate what the character is supposed to be feeling. In those types of situations the only way you can get that level of believe ability is from someone that's been through that experience and can draw on their own life for the inspiration.

There a 3 reasons why we really need to rethink the backlash given to Liam Neeson. 1. He only thought about, and never actually committed, the hate crime. 2. He self-acknowledges his thoughts were horrific, but the “once a racist, always a racist” response contradicts the primary goal of Civil Rights. It sends the message nobody can change or evolve their views upon race, even from an incident occurring over four decades ago. 3. If Neeson isn’t a racist now, he definitely has a reason to be one again.

By the time it was released in 1965 and finally restored in 2004, they took the film from Peckinpah's hands 'cause he didn't like a lot of things including its music score. So he was fired and decided to move on with "The Wild Bunch" in 1969 at Warners. The latter which earned him an Oscar nod for its original screenplay in 1970 and continues until 1983. He died in 1985.

I can sort of get the outrage w/ScarJo, especially if there are actual trans actors out there waiting for their break, but the Music outrage is weird. Casting an actual autistic person for the role wouldn't exactly make it better since they would essentially be doing the same character anyway, which involves taking the autism outbursts into extremes.

A trans actor waiting for their break doesn't make them a bankable talent or box office draw through. @@kevinclapson the whole "woke" movement is actually anti-"old industry practices" in a way. The film industry used to be about hiring someone to play the role as close to the character as possible, even if it ended up being racist or catering to negative stereotypes. Something happened and it became "hire an A-lister even though they're not the perfect fit because they can guarantee $100 million in ticket sales, which is good for our investors and sponsors." All these complaints in Hollywood is an attempt to go back to hiring based on character accuracy.
