People love George Brett. Just his sound bites about memorable anecdotes to his career make him more popular than Robin Yount. Nice presentation. Obviously none of these cards are in the 30+ “$1 repacks” of 1975 Topps I recently bought at the LCS, but the design is cool and there are some fantastically miss cut cards. Commons of players from long ago are quite fun to flip through. This design will also get some love in 2024 Topps Heritage.

Yes, the Brett rookie is a very popular card for collectors. For the 75 set, most collectors either love the design or hate it. The only thing that I mind about the set is how hard it is sometimes to find a well-centered card graded under a 7 that fits my budget.

I am enjoying these breakdowns! Such an iconic design. I like how Aaron had the first and last card. Thanks for sharing!

Glad you're enjoying them Doug! Yep, just like Ted Williams in the 54 set.

Hi John. Really surprised the Carter was outside the top 10 and Brock was inside. Brett being number 1 was no surprise. The love for Ryan and Aaron is incredible.

Thanks Stephen. Me too. I have to believe the Brock has to do with population count. Probably the same for Carter except the difference would be that there are lots more of 8s of the Carter rookie and less of the Brock card.

Great set!! I love the 75's. I sold an Aaron #1 Highlight card in a PSA 9 a couple of yrs ago. I had it for almost 20 yrs and it hurt to let it go, but it allowed me to buy a few other cards I wanted.

Wow Russel! I'm sure you did very well with that card. But if you are going to sell a card like that it's always nice to be able to use that money to be able to buy other cards that you might like more for your collection.

Thanks for another great video, John. I was surprised that the Gary Carter didn't crack the top ten or Robin Yount didn't rank higher. Set is loaded with rookie cards. Nice that the Hank Aarons ranked in the top ten. Like the highlight of his, but not the 75 regular issue. His 1976 Topps final card I feel is a better card. Unbelievable high price regarding George Brett rookie. Too rich for me.

Thanks Kevin. Yeah I'm not a big fan of Aaron's base 75 card either. I much prefer his 76. I'm constantly amazed that there are people out there who can and are willing to pay 6-figures or more for a baseball card. But I'm happy with my mid-grade vintage copies. 😃

Thanks Bill. The 75 set is very popular with collectors because of the bright colors used on the borders. And some of the really high-end copies can go for big bucks because the cards are often found either off-center and/or have print marks. So finding a "perfect" 75 card is sometimes very hard.

Nice! The really hard part is finding them perfectly centered with no corner or surface/printing issues as well. Another common thing with the 75s are the "fish eyes" that appear on a lot of the cards.

The thing that most people don't know about the 1975 set is the first $132 cards are short print

I agree. Probably comes down to the population count, especially for the Brock, which surprised me that it made the list.

Nice! I have 7 of the 10. Don’t have the Rice rookie, Ryan highlight, and Gibson. But none are in a PSA 8. All are lower grades.

Top 10 lists depend on then they were done (cards change price all the time) and what pricing data they used. Even if they used VCP for their prices, maybe they went with the most recent sale to determine their ranking. I went with current average price. So I'm not surprised if my top 10 differs from others that have done them.

The 1975 set isn't for everyone. I like them when the color choices compliment the player. But that's not always the case.
