My mother is 90 years old and to this day she still bristles when anyone mentions Eddie Fisher or Elizabeth Taylor. She might be the last person on earth still seriously holding onto that grudge.

I was little when that happened. It was HUGE news. My Mom subscribed to Photoplay and Confidential magazine and it was front page news for a year. I wish I had saved all those old issues. They are worth money today.

I think I read somewhere that Debbie and Liz did eventually forgive each other, but their friendship was likely never the same again - no kidding.

A few I would add to this list: Judy Garland (again) and Vincente Minnelli, Frank Sinatra (again) and Mia Farrow, Ingrid Bergman and her first husband Petter Lindström (Ingrid left him for Roberto Rossellini while filming Stromboli, that scandal was a decade before Liz and Dick and Ingrid would later make films in Europe with Rossellini but later made a Hollywood comeback in her Oscar winning performance in Anastasia when the relationship came to an end), Elizabeth Taylor (again) and Conrad Hilton Jr, Marilyn Monroe (again) and Joe DiMaggio and Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth.

Ava still cared about Sinatra after they split up. When Sinatra's career was at its nadir, she pulled some strings and got him the role of Maggio in "From Here to Eternity" which saved his career. Pretty nice move from an ex, I would say. She must have been one hell of a gal. I still salivate when I see her on screen.

Ava Gardener was way ahead of her time! When Howard Hugh's tried to muscle her into the bedroom after a date, she broke a giant ashtray over his head, just like Beth in the series, "Yellowstone". Ava was the daughter of a sharecroppers who loved going barefoot. If she had only been allowed to be herself. Her various husbands never seemed to "get" her. They just wanted her to be a movie star they could brag about, not as a human being who could use some sympathy and support. Remember ladies, if you're being mistreated by a man, "New boyfriend, big ass ashtray....

All 3 women Debbie, Judy, and Rita deserve much better than they received from those relationships(with Eddie, with Sidney/Vincente Minnelli, and Marlon Brando), especially Debbie and Rita, though I feel more about Rita's situation. I honestly think although both Judy's(Vincente and Sidney) and Elizabeth's marriages(with Richard and Eddie) were a scandal, Vincente was probably her real first love that was genuinely sweet and the true definition of "The Boy Next Door", same goes for Elizabeth's romance with Richard.

I believe that though most of the scandalous old Hollywood relationships ended with a breakup, at least two couples out of the 10 were meant to be like Frank and Ava, along with of course, Elizabeth and Richard.
