I live in trinidad where guppies are in streams and rivers and lakes and to see them as one of the most popular pet fish in the hobby satisfies me
For the past few months, I've had a beautiful blue betta in a 6.5 gallon aquarium with a filter and heater, and I've had a blast keeping up with him. He's been energetic, and his color has been much better since bringing him home from the pet store. Thank you guys for your videos to help get me started! I've forgotten how much I love having fish

As a kid (50-60 years ago) we had a 10 gallon and always had some assortment of neons, harlequin rasboras, zebra danios, and guppies. There is a reason most of these are still the most popular fish to keep half a century later.
Started keeping fishes since the lockdown and spent most of my day watching them. I dont regret one bit

Love the list! Pufferfish, despite some challenges they imply, would be another fish I think hobbyists should try, especially pea puffers, since they're a bit easier than the rest, in my opinion. 🐡🐡🐡

@@ericplunder2744 Yep. I knew they would get bigger than people think but failed to look into just how big they could actually get. (I'm not exactly a pro lol) I had them in a 29 gallon & before I knew it they were the size of my hand. So, knowing they'd soon start to die because of the lack of space & having nowhere to keep a larger tank, I donated them to someone with a huge pond. We've had a problem in my area of people dumping the poor fellas into the local lakes & streams, it hit my newsfeed & that's how I found out how big they get. Huh, I’ve always been a cichlid guy myself, having a 55 gallon Mbuna tank and a 75 gallon new world cichlid tank. But I have this empty 29 gallon just sitting around and after seeing this video, I really like the guppies you used in this video for display. Definitely thinking of guppies or shell dwellers or a pair of convicts for my 29G.

Auratus Cichlid. Love him. Great mediator and keeps all of my other mbunas in check.
I feel like one of the biggest if not the the biggest issue with this hobby is petco and petsmart. I have had my freshwater aquarium for about ten years and before setting up I read a few books which was great. However through the years as issues and questions have come up I have found 99% of the employees at these big box stores just aren’t knowledgeable. They sell fish without giving you any information about what you are buying etc. it’s too bad because so many issues could be avoided if only the people selling the fish and equipment were knowledgeable about what they were selling. Thanks for the great videos!

Discus are the cutest fish in the word
Guppies 🐠🐠🐠🐠😃 so lovely and interesting to watch!
I remember the first time I saw a Flowerhorn. I thought "Aw, poor guy has a tumor". Some people like oddities, or bright colors, but I like the fish to look more natural. I love my guppies but I find I prefer to watch the females tank with their shorter fins and only a splash of color. Cory catfish are one of my must have freshwater fish. They have a lot of personality.
