While it hurts my heart to agree with you, I must. I'm Barbadian born, Guyanese by descent and I've always been in love with Guyana my paternal home but political corruption has always kept this country from prospering for more than half century. While natural resource-rich and with new resources being discovered often, this country could probably the wealthiest nation in the Western Hemisphere if corrupt, power-hungry politicians are kept out of the political process Guyana's problems can be clearly laid at the feet of its politicians who are defined in three areas, (1) Incompetent or weak, (2) Autocratic, and last but surely not least, (3) Downright corrupt. Finally, every political party since Independenc has used the racial makeup of the country population to drive wedges among the people creating issues that only seem to problematic at election time hereby the weaponization of race aforementioned.

When it comes to natural beauty, scenery and character of the islands, I don't think any other place in the Caribbean can match St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Sadly, there has been a lot of gun crimes there lately. I wish the people there will learn the art of settling their differences through dialogue.
