    @@Htiyow do you improve your aim, I haven't played OW2 since launch but in ow1 I was always gold or silver (I reached plat once in a 5 stack but I kinda got carried a bit.) I know there is a lot I could improve on in overwatch but my aim is definitely one of biggest things to improve because if I'm going against genji or some other hard to hit character I just miss most of my shots, in other games my aim isn't perfect but it's good enough but in overwatch it's harder because you can't ads with most characters and a lot of the characters move so fast and in ow the hitboxes outside tanks are quite small in general. I'm a console player if that's relevant on how I can improve my aim. I'm asking you since you went from having bad aim to reaching masters so I think you can understand the situation I'm in.

    I think Bap is a sleeper pick for somewhere on the lower end (i.e. around the 10th spot) because of how insanely high his APM and mechanical ceiling can be. Anyone can shoot shoot heal a tank with your team in front of you. But in a chaotic fight where you have to flick around it gets pretty tricky. Not to mention if on top of this you're hitting headshots and direct nades it becomes even harder. I would say Bap is forgiving to learn because you still have great value without being optimal. You can hit ground nades and body shots with suboptimal rhythm and still win many fights. And you don't get punished for mistakes as easily. But mastering his mechanics to have the optimal value is insanely hard...and rightfully so because if he was always doing 150 headshot damage per primary fire burst and hitting directs on every heal he would be the most broken support in the game.

  • @Icyfire25

    @Icyfire25

    Жыл бұрын

    Maybe I'm not giving myself enough credit but I think Bap is stupidly easy to carry as no matter how chaotic the fights get. You just jump around with the boots and avoid everybody (or don't if they have solid hitscan/snipers). Just don't think it's hard to balance the dmg/healing either. I think he's a joke with his high healing potential, solid burst hitscan dmg, burst regen and immort field

  • @jamesburnett3594

    @jamesburnett3594

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Icyfire25 I don't think it's hard to balance damage and healing in certain contexts or even doing it effectively enough to consistently climb. We're talking about mastery here. Are you literally always hitting all three rounds of your burst as headshots? Are you 100% of the time hitting directs? Because being able to MASTER hitting all the weird shots you can get while making them optimal is hard af and currently I have yet to see a Bap hit the mechanical peak of the character. But thankfully, he is so op in other ways that yes he is an easy character to climb with. But there IS a distinction between ease of wins and mastery.

  • @jasonmension3979

    Hes hitscan with a litteral immortality field and some of the best mobility in the game, a decent bap is nearly unkillable plus his heals are just a junkrat bomb but for healing, hes definitely not on the easier side but to compare with the ones on this list is nuts lol, I personally think all supports should excluded from this list because of how easy support is in general and I'm honestly probably a support main, if not I'm a flank main but I play every support and only play tracer and echo in the dps category so I wouldnt say in bias lol But supports can sort of just heal bot and lean on their team for alot of the match, and as you climb higher this actually happens more and more because your teammates become more dependable. as support you bring massive utlity but your utlity is mostly reliant on your team which really cuts your impact on fights when compared to dps and tanks since if the dps or tank mess up then your utlity is voided but just use your utlity right and alot of the time you'll just sorta get by 😂 especially since support is supposed to watch each others backs which really makes it easy when compared to tank where you have the weight of the whole game on your shoulders or flank where you're a solo act most the game, but support is still harder then the actual dps characters in dps, just not flank which should be it's own sub category.

  • @jamesburnett3594

    @jamesburnett3594

    @@jasonmension3979 I think this is a semantics argument about the word "mastery." Your argument is that Bap has some insanely powerful abilities so he can't really get on this list. But mastery is about getting the full value out of your kit, like complete and utter optimization. And so my argument hinges on that--a perfect Bap that is hitting nothing but insane headshots (not to mention getting headshots with all 3 bullets which is extremely hard) and DIRECT (I'll say it again) heals. Anyone can hit floor splash heals but direct heals do way more and are not easy to hit consistently, especially on flying characters or high mobility ones like tracer and genji. Bap doesn't need to be hitting directs to win or do well, but for mastery he does. If you want your argument to make sense, you need to estbalish that mastery is the same as a character being easy. A character can be really easy to do well with while also being difficult to master. From what I've seen, Junk is a good example of this where he's braindead at many levels but top 500 Junks are playing 4D chess. Partially agree on Supports being easier than other roles but that's because I think Supports have the highest concentration of strong characters of any role. This is because Blizzard put more effort into "balancing" them at the beginning of OW2. It's also why the hero release schedule they have has more emphasis on Supports since it's the category with the fewest heroes.

  • @jasonmension3979

    @jasonmension3979

    Жыл бұрын

    @@jamesburnett3594 if you're going by mastery then bap falls even further behind because mastering a hero like sombra or sym in the highest teirs of play is much much harder then bap, even torb become a difficult hero to play, forcing you to become a masterful tactician with his turret. Honestly a weird thing happens where everyone's so mechanically inclined in the higher ranks that the difficult heros to make work do to their limitations in what you can actually achieve through mechanical skill, start to become more skillful to play but people dont say they're more skillful, because at the end of the day they simply just have more limitations and someone wouldnt say its skillful to hammer a nail into the wall using a stick opposed to a hammer, impressive maybe but it's not as useful or skillful as just learning that perfect way to hit the nail everytime. And bap is bascially in the middle, hes not over the top mechanically, making him have a nearly endless skill roof like tracer, genji, echo, ball and doom and he isnt held back by some cheesy gimmick like turrets or cc, forcing his base kit to be butchered, making him hard to use in the higher ranks, hes just middle of the road, which isn't bad, hes still a skillful hero but to try and count him amongst the top is nuts when the top heros have litteral endless skill ceilings that even the best players probably haven't even scratched the surface of lol

    The craziest part about getting good at characters is that some come very naturally to you and others don't at all. I don't play a lot of tank anymore but when I did, Winston was easy for me to pick up and keep pace with friends in masters/gm. On the other hand, characters like ana, Sombra, and a few others were really difficult to learn to play even half decently.

    Idk how you could ever place Ana and Kiriko above the skill of Dva, Ball and Genji. To me I was easily able to climb because most of their skills carry over with other heroes whereas Dva, Ball and Genji almost have very little transferability in their role.

  • @jamesburnett3594

    @jamesburnett3594

    How does Kiriko's skill carry over? Her playstyle and mechanics are competely unique. Also it's possible you have more aptitude for her naturally than you do those other heroes. That and she is easily the strongest hero of all those other heroes as well. But there's a difference between a character being strong and easier to climb with and difficulty in mastering. I'm a flex Support player and I've found it really easy to climb with Bap because of his solo carry potential and he's frankly secretly kinda op. But I've found him more difficult to master because of how high his APM can be and how there's always more value to get if you hit headshots and direct nades. I am biased since Kiriko is my second best hero after him but I think the distinction between climbing vs. mastery is important.

  • @astral9807

    genji actually requires alot of game sense that other characters like echo, tracer, sombra don’t because they’re abilities make up for it. u have to time almost every engagement on genji because u have no way out echo has fly on 6 sec cooldown nd two lives with ult, sombra has tp, tracer can reset engagements with recall, but genji has nothing except wall climb nd jump which just make u a easier solution target because if u use dash to engage (which is 90% of his dmg unless u hit headshots) ur stuck their unless u get a kill and most of genjis most divable targets ironically have a way to counter him so then ur forced to time ur engagements, watch cooldowns, plan a way out of the situation things no other character has to worry about as much. combining this with his paper star dmg and dry blade being one of the hardest ults to use he becomes a really hard character the only dps i’d say is harder to master is tracer

    As a Genji main I can tell you that 180 muscle memory and projectile experience = you mastered 10% of Genji. To get value out of Genji you have to have great awareness (tracking ults and cooldowns, ect.), very good map knowledge, high reaction time, insane tracking for things like blade and dash combos, top tier mechanical skill, and just a ton of experience to know when to engage and how to play around your current team. Plus since like half of the characters in ow2 counter him, you have to be good enough to still fight them even if you are getting constantly slowed, stunned, lasered, 1 shot, theres just so much into learning Genji that no other hero needs to deal with.

I've just always loved Ana and been playing her for awhille now, but most of it was on console where I was hard stuck low Masters. Now on PC I've been hardstuck (my own fault) in mid to low Plat. My other 2 that showed up on the list were Kiriko and Tracer, just the fast pace gameplay both of them offer and they are VERY rewarding (not that Ana isn't but in a different way). And I have played Winston. His ult alone doesn't justify top 10 imo when the rest of his kit is easier than most the roster.

    In my opinion the hardest hero in the game now is echo, it's a hard thing to rank tbh because whatre the parameters? Like making junkrat work in top 500 is honestly probably harder then making tracer work in top 500 but obviously tracer is harder but at the same time you can just say tracers the hardest because mechanical stuff because I would argue genji actually is harder mechanically so it has to be a combination of things and if you were just talking who's the hardest to one trick then I would say tracer because she falls short inna few areas like she struggle to deal with tanks and flyers which will make it really hard to just hard lock tracer and not sometimes lean on your team. But when it comes to needing to understand the game to its absolute fullest I would say echo is mechanically demanding, maybe the 2nd or 3rd in the game because she also like ana has multiple projectiles, has tons of movement tech like ball, her ult is even harder to learn then genjis because you need to understand every hero in the game and what they could bring to current situation you're in, her hitbox is massive which is just another way of nerfing her hp, so while tracer may have 150 which makes her need to be careful, echo has the hitbox of a tank which forces you to play much safer, and echo is bascially good at everything in the game but just not as good as other heros who specialize on stuff so to actually play echo to her fullest you gotta out tank bust a bastion, out flank a tracer, win the spam duals with the junkrats, and sometimes you gotta out snipe the widows with your bomb headshot combo across the map. And while this is all subjective, I did main tracer all of ow1 and am now an echo main in ow2, and in ow1 tracer was much harder then echo but the way 5v5 works, echo needs to be a flank more times then not which tracer and genji are both much more suited to be tanks, plus I tend to gravitate towards the hardest to play stuff in any game I play which is why I think I became an echo main at the launch of ow2 😂

  • @Skycube100

    eh no, whenever I try Genji I get surprised by how to easy to get value his kit is in comparison to Tracer, with Tracer, you can get one shotted by every single two shots in the game and not only that if you think Genji is harder than Pulse you're wrong, it's definitely hard if you 1 v 5 or 1 v 3 with all the enemy cooldowns still online but you can still make getting value on Genji ult easy too where is with Tracer, even on easy targets you can still miss, maybe the opponent moved in a way you least expected, maybe suzu. And there are times when you're just a Pulse Bomb God but there are other times when you just cant land a single one. Also, Genji has 200 hp, deflect, wall climb, has two ways of firing projectiles. He doesnt really have a lot techs outside of Swiftstrike techs. With Tracer, sure her techs mostly related to her blinks, but 150 hp and three blinks allow her and encourages her to do some techs and be good at them so sure she might not have the same amount of techs as Doom or Ball but she is still hard to master.

    I swear there really is a ton of bias towards Ana that it's mildly frustrating to see. Yes, she has a skillshoot, yes she has no movement, but those things are pretty fucking generic and it's not like other characters don't have skill shots. People put her on a pedestal, which makes sense after they revealed the most played character stat, and really inflate her skill requirements. She's easily has been one of the best characters since, forever, and rather simple to pick up and master. 1v1s are also made rather easy as you have your m1 which can 3 shot, or 2 shot with nade, a sleep, a janky hitbox that still exists after all this time, and a damage plus heal. "she requires multiple types of aim" = a projectile, a projectile, a projectile that has an arc, and a hitscan. Wow. Definitely not just inflating her skill requirements there. A positioning is generally a very universal skill in overwatch, to which is dislike the use of it for individual characters. Same with game sense. But echo without a doubt needed to be placed higher since you can't press Q and get a 3k like soldier or pharah, junkrat etc. You have to be good with her base kit, and then also good with the others. Many times i ult a character, and switching from projectiles to hitscan tracking messes you up a bunch. But seriously, stop with the ana bias. She is one of my top supports and it is just silly to see that constantly mentioned.

    I honestly feel Winston is only difficult to master under certain circumstances. The most important skills a Winston player needs (besides the obvious mechanics) are leadership skills. Which, ironically, is lore-fitting lol. If you want to play him, he is HEAVILY dependent on his team playing alongside him properly so if you aren't someone who is comfortable giving commands, he really isn't for you. He isn't a tank that is self-sustaining or self-sufficient on his own to hold a space (unless he's nano'd). The only real skill the hero requires mechanically is learning how to juggle effectively in Primal, but that's the extent of it. He's definitely more of a game knowledge hero than a mechanical one.

    assuming you have no comms (which is pretty likely in ranked), the fact that he is dependent on his team means you have to pay a lot of attention to them, knowing where they are and if they can support you. you have to know when you can use cooldowns to get aggressive or when you need to keep them to survive. you have to know where you can go to safely pressure the enemy without exposing yourself too much. i would say he requires the most game knowledge of any hero, maybe equal to dva, and primal juggling is one of the hardest mechanics in the game.

    I feel like Sombra deserves an honorable mention if we’re talking about mastering. Skill floor is very high but knowing where to put TL so you can keep up your APM gets u far more value than TPing somewhere safe but far and potentially losing the team fight in the time you get back. Timing engagements is obviously important but with most other DPS, you usually focus and put pressure on one person or 2 men on an island low on resources (just generally speaking) however with Sombra, you have to be able to scout and decide rather quickly at times how you’re going to approach hacking the enemy time and those decisions depend on seemingly millions of factors. Sometimes the best play is to find a way to hack the tank first so your team can really pressure him, remain undetected then hack somebody who becomes isolated from the tank and hopefully slim them. Sometimes just kill the healer standing too far from their team, but if they have a Hanzo with LOS, you have to figure how to play around him one shotting you. The biggest hurdle you’ll run into are things like turrets or traps, if you’re not to play around how a team using them, you’re better off swapping characters. You really have to be able to make the best decisions in regards to serving the winning condition literally every team fight because it is just as easy to make Sombra extremely ineffective as it is for her to dominate a lobby. I don’t disagree with anyone in the top 10, I just wanted to mention Sombra cause I feel like I have to think a lot more playing with her in certain games than any other hero.

Id say my aim with her is mediocre i avg about a 41% wep accuracy with her and abt 4k dmg a game with her. But those 2 are the only things i feel like is holding me back in fully mastering kiriko, my game sense and suzu timing is pretty insane for my elo id say. My diving strats do need some work tho.

    Have a couple thousand hours in OW. I primarily play support and am Diamond in support and damage. Haven't played enough tank to get ranked in any season. I think I'd be close to Masters on support if I played more comp, but I don't particularly enjoy comp. Each role: Tank: Doomfist. He's by far my worst hero and overall the hardest to play IMO. Not even close. I just get rocked constantly. It's hard to even practice him in QP because I'm so bad. I just go in and die immediately and then feel bad for my team so swap. I don't particular enjoy playing tank anyway though, so I don't mind never being able to play him. Damage: Genji. I've never been able to get the hang of him. I don't practice with him much, though. I'm sure if I watched a few guides and spent some more time playing him I'd double my effectiveness. Tracer is an honorable mention, but I'm much more productive with her than Genji. Support: Tough one, since I'm pretty decent with all of them it's hard for me to make an unbiased decision. When I play Tank in QP I often get matched with low rank supports, and I most frequently see people playing Ana and Kiriko wrong. I can always tell just by looking at the stat sheet. The Ana/Kiriko on my team will have 500 damage and 8000 healing. I'll occasionally watch the replay and see them healbotting the entire game.

  • @chris61986

    @chris61986

    Жыл бұрын

    If you're the Ana/Kiriko I described... TL;DR - Always look for damage. Heal when needed. Ana and Kiriko should be much closer to 3000/8000 damage/heals if you're actually being productive. In some matches, that can even be a 50/50 split damage/heals depending on matchups. Support rule #1: Dead enemies can't damage your team. Switch your mindset from "healer" to "support". Support means damage, heals, and CC/enhancing your team. If your tank has 400 HP, they're fine. Do damage. If your Genji has 190 HP, do damage. Heal when needed, otherwise damage. Of course stats aren't the only thing. Smart usage of sleep dart, nade, TP, and Suzu are super important. For Ana players, I most often see them sitting on cooldowns until "just the right moment" or only thinking of cooldowns as defensive tools. I've found the most success in using sleep darts liberally. Unless you think something like a Reaper ult is coming, shoot the dart. Shoot it around a corner. Shoot it where you think an enemy is going to peek. Just use the damn dart. You'd be surprised how many offensive sleep darts will result in your team securing a kill. As for nade, just throw that sucker whenever it's up. Try to land it on squishies or on your tank/their tank simultaneously. As you get more comfortable, you'll naturally start to learn how to use it more productively. But seriously, to start with, just throw the nade at the enemy team whenever it's up. If you're bronze/silver rank, that already makes you better than the opposing Ana who only uses her nade whenever she gets dove. Kiriko is a little different. Use Suzu when someone is going to die. That's it. No tips for this. Just takes a lot of practice. Otherwise, use it on yourself early in a teamfight as you look for a kill. Two headshots is a kill on 200HP targets. Kiriko has amazing kill potential if you land headshots. Climb walls. Low ranked players never climb or take high ground. Go high ground before the team fight and throw kunai at head level. If you are in danger, Suzu yourself and TP out. Get in a rhythm. Kunai/Kunai/Heal on repeat. Don't hold heals. Mix in Kunai. Even if you miss, it'll help you get used to the flow. Finally, for both of them, always take the 1v1 duel. Never run if someone's in your face. You're probably dead already if you run, so might as well try. Two headshots with Kiriko wins a duel. Nade and 2 shots wins it with Ana. They are two of the best in the game at taking close 1v1s against damage heroes. If it's a tank though, sleep dart or TP out. You're going to lose that fight, and you were probably out of position. Didn't mean to write such a huge wall of text... my bad. Hopefully helps someone out there.

    Kiriko is not hard to master. I recently started playing her and she is way too easy. If you have a good understanding of the game of Overwatch and get used to the feel of the Kunai, she is one of the easiest characters to master. Also Ana is not hard either. I really was scared to play her for the longest time because I'm dog shit at aiming but nope. It's easy. She has way too much utility in her kit. And you don't need to particularly be good at the game to get insane value with her. Other than that, agree with your list.

    getting value doesnt mean mastering the hero, using the hero to its maximum potential is completely another story.

    @@hooopelast2541 If you can consistently get value on one hero, they are not difficult to master. You probably also think Moira has an actual skill ceiling. Mercy's varying movement and knowing who to fly toand when and who do heal or dmg boost and when ans also when to pull out the pistol is already harder to master than Kiriko and Ana. Take a look at literally every other hero he lists. All are valid because there is a multitude of ways to play them and decisions you can make at any given second that will give a varying level of value (or lack of value). Ana and Kiriko boil down to if you can consistently land your shots and have smart game sense and know who and when to use your cooldowns on and positioning (mainly for Ana)

    @@Icyfire25 dude... consistently getting value doesnt mean mastering the hero, there is a big difference, every hero has a skill floor and ceiling, just because the floor of a hero is easier, it doenst mean the ceiling is also easier, the difference between a good ana/kiriko and a 'master' ana/kiriko is waaay bigger between a good mercy and a 'master' mercy, consistently getting max value out of the hero's kit is mastering a character.

    @@andrealelli7505 Not hard. Has more decision making potential. Ana and Kiriko are easy. You're delusional if you think you're good because you cleansed that JQ ult or slept that Doomfist that dived you in the face. It's child's play. Anybody can do it unless they're garbo

    I think that rat should be up here at lile 9 or 10, he is so much more than just choke spamming and it requires a lot of skill to consistently hit his orimary fire. He is also one of the hardest character to play in the high ranks due to the amount of counterplay to him
