TBH I don't understand why all sports don't have a ref constantly looking at monitors that is able to challenge or reverse any call.

It would delay the game just like it does now in American football. I'm pretty sure if NFL could do it quicker, they would, as it interrupts the game and diffuses fan enthusiasm.

so what if it delays the game a bit .. Isnt it worth a few moments to make sure its the right call so it doesnt end up on a list like this?

***** You clearly missed the point. Brady pump-faked, brought the ball in, *then* fumbled. The Tuck Rule applies if the ball comes out *during* the pump-fake. Not after. They reviewed it several times. He completed the tuck, then fumbled.

It could have been called an "Illegal Use of Hands and Arms" or a "push off"... but he got away with it. Here is what the rule states. The bold bit is important to that moment. A player is not allowed to use their hands or arms to force their way past an opponent or push an opponent aside. It also is not legal for a player to use their hands or arms to prevent an opponent from freely moving anywhere on the basketball court. *It is not legal for a player dribbling or shooting the ball to push away a defender who is attempting to steal the ball or block a shot.*

Robert Coulter I understand that. There were bad calls throughout the entire game and series, specifically game 6. It's just like number 2 on this list. The entire game was rigged and bad refereeing decided the outcome. They picked the most controversial call in that game which was when time was added back on the clock. A call that sticks out in the Lakers-Kings game was when Kobe elbowed Mike Bibby in the face in the finals moments and there was no call while Bibby was on the ground bleeding.

Will Beard 2002 WCF facts show the Kings took more free throw attempts and committed fewer fouls than the lakers in that series.... that is a fact....the officiating favored the Kings.....that's a documented historical fact.... Shaq and Kobe are 2 of the alltime leaders in free throw attempts, and the kings STILL shot more free throws than the lakers did in that series Kings took 204 free throws in the series.... Lakers took 185 free throws in the series... advantage Kings.. Kings committed 173 fouls.. Lakers commited 179 fouls.. advantage Kings.. kings won game 2 and had a 38-25 edge in free throw attempts...horry fouled out.. kings won game 3 and had a 35-15 adge in free throw attempts...kobe fouled out... kings won game 5 and had a 33-23 edge in free throw attempts....shaq fouled out and attempted 1 free throw.. Kings had a 106 to 63 FTA advantage in the 3 games they won.....with horry, kobe, and shaq each having a game in which they fouled out and the team lost... these are the facts....they are undisputed...refs favored the Kings Lakers were screwed by the refs.....good thing they had Shaq

  • @willbeard3912

Kobe Not Top 100 Game 6 was the most controversial game. The Lakers were screwed by the ref? Ha!! Go watch the highlights from game 6 please. Maybe I went too far to say the entire series was rigged, but I don't think you can say there wasn't something wrong with game 6. The Kings played better, being the better team. The Kings win that game and the series is over. I remember watching this game and shaking my head, vowing to never watch NBA basketball again until David Stern was gone (I didn't stick to this vow). The Lakers shot 26 free throws in the 4th quarter... Do I need to repeat that? Shaq was clotheslining players who drove to the basket, Larry Bird style, and didn't get called for them. However, if Pollard was a victim of Shaw catching the ball in the post the whistle blew immediately. Tim Donaghy filed a court document saying the refs were told to do what favors NBA marketing. And maybe the most notorious of all, the obvious, blatant elbow Bibby took too the face from Kobe during the final moments that, you guessed it, wasn't even called. The guy was laying on the ground bleeding. I think it's safe to say you are just another biased Lakers fan. That's OK tho.

Again, as they mentioned, they weren't ranked for how bad they were, they were ranked by the importance of the game. That play happened in week 3 of the season. Had it been a playoff game or a late season moment that decided the champion then maybe, but if you remember the packers won the division that year anyway so the game wasn't really that important at all.

The refs were beyond disgusting in the Steelers Broncos game. Although not as major Broncos Pats game cost them home field. Without the sloppily refs of the hail mary Packers game it is likely the Packers wouldn't have even made the playoffs.

The ref did the correct thing, and really he did the only thing that should have been done. What do you expect the ref to do? give Ghana the goal? Santiago is right, one the foul didn't exist and two the Ghana players were clearly offside, so if Ghana would have won then yes, it would have been very controversial.

The French players were so in the wrong that they had to personally apoligise to the manager and Nicholas Sarkozy. It annoys me how any other team (Northern Ireland) would have killed for a spot in the world cup yet France took it from them and threw it away.

I'm not commenting wether the decision was right or wrong, but what's important is that to this day, there does not seem to be a common agreement on to the topic. From an Australian perspective. The 2006 world cup semi final Italy versus Australia, in the 90th minute an Italy player dives in the box and receives a penalty despite no contact being made. In the AFL 2009 Grand Final Tom Hawkins from Geelong kicks a goal that was replayed and shown to actually hit the post, the final siren sounds at the end of the game with Geelong that one solitary goal up.

I remember hearing about one from many Olympics ago where Russia who had always been dominant in figure skating at the time was given the gold medal despite that time around, Canada actually had the best score. The judges were about to regress their decision and give it to the Canadians, but the Canadians decided against it out of not wanting to feel pity. I tried looking this up on Google, I had a hard time finding it so I don't know whether it is even true now, but I just remember hearing about that from my brother who is a big sports fan.

One bad call didn't result in a score and one hold may have been questionable. Seattle played like shit. Missing field goals, giving up a super bowl record scoring run, letting them pull the same obvious gadget play for a touchdown that they ran about 6 times in the regular season, and terrible clock management does not sound like a team that deserves to win a super bowl...

  • @Kira-zi1qp

He never did that at all. He apologized for 2 calls in the fourth quarter and one of them was legitimately wrong but didn't result in a score and the other was the Locklear hold. I don't get why people even question this one, he grabbed his shoulder pad from behind and yanked him causing home to fall over. That's a hold and it wouldn't matter if Hasselbeck didn't throw a pick the very next play pretty much sealing the loss. I'm pretty sure the refs didn't force Jeremy Stevens to drop four easily catchable balls, or trip all Seattle defenders on a super bowl record scoring run, or make them bite on an obvious gadget play everyone saw coming, or make them have God awful clock management in the end of the 2nd and 4th quarters so they couldn't score. They also could've come back at the end, down by 11 needing a touchdown and a field goal in no order. Matt Hasselbeck completely ignoring the field goal option, decides to go deep losing the ball on downs and pretty much the game. Seattle shot themselves in the foot that game, they made way to many mistakes to deserve the win that night.

Bryan Bordes The refs put them out of position to make plays: watch this video I just found: kzread.info/dash/bejne/amSmzcaKgbSdpaQ.html When Hasselbeck threw an interception, it shouldn't have even been 3rd and 18, they missed an EASY horse collar on Alexander which would have made it first and 10 from the 12 yard line. A Hasselbeck overthrow would have then went out of the back of the end zone. With the MVP league leading rusher in Alexander, they probably wouldn't even throw on first down. IF they did, it would have been a more conservative, shorter pass pattern. On the first missed field goal, there was a highly tick tacky holding call (Pittsburgh got away with worse holding all night) on the punt return which went past mid field. Instead, they started the drive at the 27. Assuming they gain the same amount of yards in the drive, it could have been a more manageable touchdown drive, or at LEAST a sure field goal (the field goal was only slightly missed at 54). Pittsburgh was gifted 15 more free yards on a Hasselbeck "low block" when he was tackling the guy who picked the ball off. Pittsburgh then scored their third touchdown, thanks to 30 free yards of field position (missed horse collar on Alexander, bad call on the INT return, ASSUMING Hasselbeck actually still throws an INT which would be unlikely if the ball were at the correct spot, the 12-yard line). Holds throughout the game called on Seattle were tick tacky at best, yet the same looking, or worse, calls were not called on Pittsburgh. I know a lot of people like to argue that the OPI was a bad call, but I'm not gonna beat a dead horse with that one. I feel like the calls shown in the video above are worse than the tick tacky OPI call

Zack Lee Hey, even the refs are human. They make mistakes too and have good and bad days like anyone else. It's easy to criticize ref behind a screen when we have replay with all the camera perceptions in the world...but they have to make split-second decisions, using only the angle in which they're positioned to make the call...plus big games like these ones has enough pressure to even make the most experienced ref crack. You also have to remember that ref have unbiased views on plays while we fans root for one team or the other...so what may seem like a call for us might not be a call in the eyes of the ref...especially when said call could advantage our team.
