I was a patient in Stoke Mandeville Hospital in the 80s and I can tell you that consultants and executives knew what was going on with that vile man , myself and other patients used to pretend to be asleep when he was coming round the ward with the nurses , the nurses all hated him as much as the patients .

Me as well Lyn,my late Mother wanted my Brother ,Sister and I to go on Jim'll Fix It...We all said NO!

Jimmy Saville had a scar on the top of his foot (not sure which one). My Mother was in a line up to shake hands with a royalty person at some event. Saville was behind her as they organised themselves in the line up. He grabbed her bum, gave it a pinch. My Mum stepped back and put the full force of her stiletto heel on his foot. (Told me that she could feel the crunch) He made a stifled noise and disappeared into the toilet for 10 minutes. He limped for the rest of the time he was there that day.

I watched the documentary on this last night and I kept saying to my husband, "He's telling on himself but no one is listening." if they stopped laughing with him they would really have heard exactly what he was revealing quite openly. What an incredible narcissistic person. All his "good acts" were to keep attention on himself. Every motive was for self-fulfillment of adoration from his world of fans. A sick, sick human who took advantage of everyone. What a creepy person.

I grew up in the 70's...He always horrified me when he appeared on TV when I was a kid.

I was sexually abused from the age of 4 until I was 11 and even at such a young age watching jimmy on the tv made me feel sick. Its like I can smell a pervert from a mile away.

In a popular BBC documentary Savile and the presenter confront a young woman in a hospital bed for the mentally ill. Savile shows her drawing of him to the camera; it’s in black crayon and he is a monster. “What have I ever done to you?” asks Savile. “Everything” she replies. Savile gives a faux shocked face to the male presenter who laughs. They move on, Savile commenting how sad it is for mental patients such as she, unable to appreciate all he’s done for her. I reckon there and then that girl knew no one would ever believe her, her threat of exposing him as a predator lying in ashes to an audience of millions of people.

​​@@ATXviIIIe it would appear he was doing his "comedy bit", and the audience laughed along. So maybe this was his little trick of getting away with it. You can tell at points that Savile was actually quite intelligent, and things were very different back then in terms of scrutiny and rank. Hierarchical rank is still very important but not as important as it was then. Nowadays because of scrutiny we have seen that high rank does have those that do evil deeds. Rumours used to be far easier to keep quiet. So, along with him being a huge TV personality, Savile could joke away about the disgusting truth, get audience laughs (mainly from females) and probably felt untouchable. Which sadly, he clearly was.

my friend's mother actually came face to face with him as a child. She was on a train and he kept looking at her creepily. She was 12.

That rings a bell with me. Returning from London to Yorkshire after a school trip to Paris in 1962, we were told JS was in the same restaurant car and were taken in 2s and 3s to meet him (we were 12/13 years old at the time). I took his photo with a Brownie 127! I wish I knew where that photo ended up; it would have special poignancy today.

Savile is a great example of one way in which society has improved over the last few decades. So many people, at best, turned a blind eye to his behaviour - perhaps the worst being the hospital bosses who were happy to take his money despite the warnings from nurses and doctors about his vile antics. People are quick to moan that “things were better back in the day” but it’s unthinkable that anyone could operate like that now. He’d never pass any of the legal checks needed to work with children and whistleblowers would be taken seriously on such a matter. Of course there are still evil child abusers but it’s far harder now for them to gain access to kids and thank goodness for that.

I have no doubt that the Thatcher, Major and Blair governments knew exactly what Savile was up to, but because he knew so much and could have brought down several high profile people including MPs, actors, celebrities, sports stars and members of the royal family with him, he was never brought to justice. When he died, I have no doubt that several celebrities breathed a massive sigh of relief.

It all came out after he died because of all the powerful men that also participated in his crimes. He was well protected because he would essentially supply child victims to the elite which meant he could do whatever he pleased. He was a liability. Just like Epstein.

The cigar was his prop, creating a literal smokescreen.

He was an actor on and off the screen. Only his victims met the true Jimmy. When people met Jimmy they played their own part in the facade. Jimmy’s character was the wise , funny, witty, worldly, experienced manipulator. And people knew their part/role was to be manipulated to a certain degree. That applied to adults and kids. He controlled the boundaries of conversation. He was the driver who steered conversation and atmosphere to his direction of choice. People knew they were just passengers there for the ride while in his presence. The golden era of TV was partly to blame for people’s abscent mindedness . Blinded by big names, fame , fortune, showbiz. These people were gods, prophets, untouchables, worshipped. We believed in fantasy.

Quite right. In the Netflix documentary, Selina Scott is on a Morning Telly prog and Savile is flirting with her and she says , in the documentary, that she's ACTING up to him to keep the pleasantry going as it was basically 'good telly' for the viewers.

That 2018 documentary by Louis Theroux has this bit in it where he says, "A friendship is sort of a two-way relationship, but with Jimmy it only ever went one way." Basically saying that he was super controlling and never really let anyone in because he was always in control of what was said.

As an American, I had very little to no knowledge of Jimmy Savile when he was alive. I watch things like this, and I do think of how people like him get away with this stuff. Then I'm reminded of Bill Cosby, and all the terrible things he did. It seems they get away with so much because of their celebrity status, their natural charisma, and the like. People like Jimmy ruin lives, both directly and indirectly. I do hope his victims heal from this, and I also hope we stay vigilant for predators such as him.

He molested kids for 50 years. And he assaulted adults. That's 5 decades. 5 generations. He possibly could've assaulted the mother and child when they were both little. He's done more molesting than probably all the other small time pedophiles combined. And he got away with it. He even spells it out for us when he says things repeatedly like my case is next Thursday or the problem with my rolls royce is too posh to pick up girls so I still keep a white van. That's not a joke that's him being honest. There's no way in hell anyone who has had the unfortunate experience of coming in to contact with him has recovered. Even people who are not his victims probably are kicking themselves thinking I should've killed him if I knew.

I’d say Saville was more widespread and popular as a comparison,, but less talented and he didn’t have the wholesomeness.. During his peak he was probably averaging 15-20 million a show 2-3 shows a week, plus adverts and charity work, so probably reaching 2/3 of the U.K… I don’t think there’s anyone as prolific and influential with say the presidency and government and corporations etc

Jim Savile is a weird pedophilic person who you can't tell whether is trying to fuck you or bother you. Those comments he made were to make people laugh, while at the same time, disclosing the truth. He did that on numerous occasions in numerous interviews. He obviously got off on that. He was gloating the whole time.🤮

I think he took advantage of the fact that there are some truths that are so horrific that society at large is sometimes simply not capable of fully believing them, so has to resort to believing lies instead. His entire life was basically one such giant lie, and the truth of his true identity was so monstrous that people couldn’t even begin to confront it until after he was dead and buried.

My grandad hated him always said there was something wrong with him and wouldn’t watch him on TV. He didn’t know him and never met him but he knew there was something wrong with him. “ I ain’t watching that nonce” he would say when top of the pops came on and out to the pub he went grumbling as he left

Grew up watching him and he always screamed creepy and I never got why anyone let alone a nation considered him a national treasure- screamed nonce through and through - disgraceful that as a nation, individual and through the levels of police and politicians that he got away with it and never got exposed and tried for his vile crimes

Someone from the same village I was from in West Yorkshire was abused by him in the 70’s, and to think I wrote twice to Jim I’ll fix it, first time I wanted to drive the flying Scotsman and second time I wanted to meet Steven Spielberg. that does not make sense, if he had that info, surely to keep his estate and name clear after death he would have just written it down and told all those people that if was investigated after his death a lawyer would publish the information. He could easily take these people down after his death so his secret could have remained secret... If he could control the media, and police etc whilst alive he could have carried on doing so...

Just look at all the comments under this video and any other one on Savile and they're full of people claiming they and their families all knew about Savile back in the day. But, surprise, surprise, none of these people ever did anything. The reality is that Savile was a very popular figure for years and years, and the same people who are claiming to have known about him would likely have been star struck if they had met him at the time.

I can remember watching Jim I'll fix it, when I was younger. I told my parents that he was creeping me out.

An excellent example of a true psychopath, he fooled almost everyone his whole life, using charity to gain attention and power for himself, and to make people think what a nice guy he must be.

One of Louis Theroux's more recent documentaries, where he tells the full story of his first Saville documentary and faces up to himself getting duped, is well worth a watch.

It boggles my brain how he got away with it. He always came across as utterly creepy to me. Odious man.

I first saw him on telly as a kid when he introduced Top Of The Pops and even as a ten year old my instincts were sharp as I felt a shiver run down my spine whenever he ingratiated himself upon us every week....

My son had a Savile encounter when he was an apprentice with the local council. It was snowing and his team had taken refuge in their van when there was a tap at the window. They opened it and a man said "The Job Centre sent me to give you lads a hand". It was Savile. He made a few pleasantries, then looked at my son and said "I used to be a handsome young man like you". We have often considered this a narrow escape. I can't claim hindsight enough to say I thought he was 'creepy' when he was on TV, but I never warmed to him, despite the charity work.

I met him at the Highland games in fort William. We went to get his autograph and walked in to his caravan. He kicked off and told us to get out and not just walk in. We came back later and some one on the door let us in to get his autograph. No there was no creepy advances on us. But me and my sister felt very uncomfortable because of how raging he was with us earlier. We walked away thinking he wasn’t a very nice man. We was only 8 and 12. I can’t believe no one ever exposed him truly. He was so well protected. Those poor victims.

National scumbag, more like. How he got away with ruining around 450 lives, while making sure everyone saw him as a National Treasure, is beyond me. Am I the only one who can't even look at him without being reminded of all the disgraceful actions he caused?

I got his autograph when i saw him at Leeds train station 1999. He said i was better looking than him. And got very cagey when i asked him what he's been up to, meaning has he been filming lately. The atmosphere changed around him. I knew then he had a dark side. I kept hearing the word nonce over and over.

A classic psychopath, completely detached from his crimes, would have passed a lie detector test easily.

I remember chatting with a lady friend online years ago and I remember her saying that Rolf Harris gave her the creeps and that he had definite Paedo vibes about him (this was long before he was exposed) it just goes to show you should trust your instincts 😮

I was a teenager in the 1960s. Savile always freaked me out. There was something about him that was not quite right.

As an American kid who got to live in England from 1979 to 1983, I got to watch Saville on the TV, and mostly his "Jim'll Fix It" show. I wanted to write in to have him make one of my wishes come true -- at the time it was either a trip back to Florida to visit Disney World, or to bring my Grandparents over (since we missed them greatly). Never did get a reply back from the show, but after hearing what he did to young girls I'm glad they never did "Fix"the wish for us. I would never have liked him laying his hands on my twin siser.

As a child I always thought something was strange about him but his show jim'll fix it was classic grooming. Children wanted these amazing experiences. I tgink I said a few times I wanted to write to him. My dad could not stand him and I think I was pursuaded not to or certainly not encouraged to write to him. My dad is no longer alive but his instincts were correct

One of the biggest examples of the Mandela effect on me is that I was positive that 'Savile' was spelt 'Saville'! Maybe it got changed to 'vile' after all the allegations surfaced.

As children 'Fix It' was essential viewing. However my mother would not watch the programme as she said she found him deeply unsettling. 'There is something about him...I don't like that man'. Never forget that the BBC covered for him for years' as they did with Rolf Hartis. They also covered for Martin Bashir when he set Princess Diana up.

When a student at an art college in the 70s in the midlands we staged a sit in in the hall as a protest against some of the colleges policies , we were negotiating with the principal, , Eddie , a devious nasty creature at the best of times. A female student walked past him as we were speaking and he pinched her backside. in broad daylight with a half dozen students standing next to him. He did it to say to us,"i can get away with anything". There's now an academic award presented in his name . My sister in law went to a catholic school with his daughter, she was terrified of him and when she began to fail academically, she had a nervous breakdown, was there incest there ? My sister in law has her suspicions. He too was a pillar of society who thought he was invulnerable.. These guys were everywhere in the 70s and we allowed them to get away with this sort of behaviour as we did with Saviile, who I always regarded as a utter creep.

Being American I had never heard of Saville before until about 2018. I went to Google him and I couldnt believe how grotesque he looked.

But many have always called him out, and very publicly, and if he was raping little girls, there are plenty of people willing and capable of exposing that. Bill Cosby’s public persona was actually pretty wholesome. Can’t say that about JS. He reminds me of someone’s wicked Uncle Ernie.

I grew up in the 70s and Jim'll Fix It was unmissable every Saturday night, probably just before Dr Who or something like that. Me, my brothers and all my friends loved the concept of Jim'll Fix it - you got to be on TV, you got a dream that you had come true...but I can remember watching the programme and always feeling awkward about seeing him on screen, smoking those stinking horrible cigars and speaking like nobody I knew. I went on to do many half marathons and three marathons. I remember seeing Savile at the Glasgow Half Marathon, it would have been either 1992 or 1993 - 1992 I think. The race started in George Square, Glasgow, and I cheered for Savile and chanted his name like thousands of others. But not in an admiring way - just going with the crowd because he was famous and here he was in my city doing the same race as me, with his usual stinking cigar hanging out of his mangled, anus-like mouth. A friend of mine told me around 2005-ish that there were persistent rumours around Savile and his being a sexual predator and paedophile was an open-secret in BBC circles. That came as a surprise to me - not because it wasn't credible, but because it was just a rumour I got told in a student pub. Clearly, hundreds or thousands of BBC staff knew all about him - but nobody really spoke out until after he died and rotted. I was at my mum's on the day he died, and I quipped "the children of Britain can sleep a little safer tonight". My mum was horrified, and wanted to know why I'd say something like that. I just laughed and said it was only a rumour I heard. Then of course the truth about this scumbag emerged. Veritable POS.

What makes me disgusted about Jimmy Saville and his vile behaviour is that he wasn't arrested by Police despite the fact that he got away with carrying on his popularity by being famous but kept his victims silent in order to stop them coming forward and making themselves heard. 😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Plenty of people knew behind the scenes but simply didn’t care because he was that famous and popular and was such a big money maker. The public adored him and the high ups obviously knew that and wanted to keep the cash cow alive and well.
