I’m from Guyana 🇬🇾 {on the main land of South America} but we were also “carried beyond” Carribean. And we are always mixed in with our brothers and sisters on the islands even though we are on the main land of South America.(the only English speaking country in South America) and we are part of the caricom member states. We are closely linked to Jamacan and Trinidadian culture and I have a strong feeling that most of us came from Ghana and Nigeria. We are a part of you and you are a part of us ONE PEOPLE PERIOD. AFRICA UNITE BECAUSE YOUR CHILDREN WANT TO COME HOME!

However, I need to make a correction I am not sure which islands you were referring to when you said, "most of the islands except Jamaica were at some point under direct US rule" but as someone born and raise and therefore educated in the Caribbean up to tertiary level my history books didn’t teach me that!

When you listened to some of these bloggers, they does not know what the hell they are talking about. When some people is saying that they have been to college or university and, does not know all these simple information. One wonder what they really learned there,a lot of nonessentical arguments about the white people ideology and philosophy. So when someone said that he or she been to the tertiary educational level,it is the same white people stupid ideology and philosophy. You mostly do research in those institutions,on certain subject, and if you don't completed your assignment.. They failed you,it is not really a big deal like how, some people is making out to be,ok.

I learnt a lot. Australia! One key inaccuracy though. Jamaica is not the only Caribbean nation NOT to have come under US rule. I think the statement refers only to the countries among the top 4 senders of immigrants, i.e. Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Haiti. Most of the other Caribbean nations, like Jamaica, have thankfully never been invaded or occupied by the US, Grenada being a notable exception.

This video appears to be on point: NYC, Miami, London, Toronto, etc... My parents migrated to Montreal, QC in the 1970's. I have a sister who lives in Toronto and another sister who lives in Houston, Texas. My uncle's children migrated to Long Island, New York (NYC).
