I can't remember the how or the why, but I know that everyone in my history class my sophomore year of high school tried to insist to me that it was red and black and I told them that it was for sure red and green and so the next day I brought in my VHS of Dream Master which has a big picture of Freddy on the back that clearly showed it was red and green.

Good way to remember the Freddy sweater thing is that Wes Craven said that he used those colors (red/green) because he read that they’re the two most difficult colors for the human eye to reconcile when placed together. So it made Freddy harder to look at, in turn.

It's actually grey and yellow that are the hardest to see together. But those colors didn't work for a killer like Freddy, so Craven went for the 2nd most difficult colors to see together- red and green. Craven later had Ted Raimi wear grey/yellow striped shirt in Shocker.

God, was the publicity campaign for "The Blair Witch Project" a fun memory! Whether you ended up liking the film or not, you can't deny they really went to great lengths to help its very first audiences believe the film and the story were real (the companion TV special they fabricated about the "missing" filmmakers and aired on television was one of the more convincing details). It didn't last long as everybody caught on quickly, but if you allowed yourself to suspend your disbelief (and if you could stomach the shaky footage), it was a pretty fascinating experience.

Yes, I sometimes get mad when I watch a movie and scenes from the trailer are missing. I've also noticed that the music soundtrack to the trailer often doesn't match the movie. Speaking of music, I've had a personal - and very disappointing - Mandela effect encounter with the classic Disney film 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA. I remember seeing commercials for that movie on TV as a kid and hearing a very thrilling "adventure" leitmotif that sounded like it was being played on a French horn. I can still hum that tune to this day, and for me it's the quintessential example of "awesome blockbuster movie music." But then, many years later, I watched 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA for the first time in decades - and that French horn theme is nowhere to be heard! In fact, the actual score for the film is often grim and foreboding. I was very sad, because I had watched the movie in part just to hear the French horn again. Since then I've yet to find proof that the tune I remember even exists, and have started to wonder if I didn't dream it.

When i was young i watched the movie *First Blood* (Rambo) and rewatched it several times through the years. There was a scene that i vividly remember, which is when Rambo dives into a river to escape the bad guys. I can still picture it in my mind: Rambo swimming to shore and exiting the water, all wet and freezing. And that's exactly what would then tie it all up with him improvising some custom "clothes" and lighting a bonfire (to warm himself up). I watched the movie again recently and that scene never came up. There's no part in which he jumps into any river. The closest thing is this part where he's hanging on a cliff and they are firing at him (we can see a stream running between the mountains and Rambo DOES jump, but he lands on solid ground). I have no idea why i was so sure about that scene. It's possible i borrowed that memory from another movie. I just don't know... I was so sure, though.

The eyes are shown in a very memorable close-up of the face as I saw it in the 1960s and several times since, and Mojo has made an error. Mojo has obviously only seen the cut general rating release of the film which had this close-up shot edited out. It was a special prosthetic effect created by a famous entertainment industry make-up effects artist for the film.

@@cranbers She looks down and sees the eyes of the child in close-up. You can even find it on the Internet. They showed this unedited version on television in the 1970s but since then there have been edits for home video and television broadcast. It may technically be the most remembered scene in the entire film, even more memorable than the phone booth scene with legendary horror filmmaker William Castle waiting to use the phone standing outside. Other comments here suggest Mojo does this as clickbait which sadly sounds like it could be, or a way to market the films by forcing us all to watch them again confirming their mistake. Could be. At least a few of the others, if not all of them, also appear to be incorrect, like the Blair Witch Project and The Silence Of The Lambs examples.

Even in the soundbite of Anne Rice, she says "Interview with THE vampire." Her "th" sound is right there. People get confused because when spoken, the "th" at the end of "with" and the next word, "the", blend in together, sounding similar to "with-a".

A couple years ago I watched "Gremlins" for the first time since childhood and was surprised and disappointed that the funniest part wasn't on the D.V.D. I did some Googling and couldn't find any mention of this being in an alternate cut. It's just nowhere. In the scene where Gizmo rides through the store in the toy car, I thought he and the dog met at an intersection of aisles and both started and stopped a few times like drivers at a four-way stop. I can see it clearly in my mind's eye, but apparently I never saw it for real because all signs point to it never having existed.

The Candyman remake was a BAD example, right off the bat. That's not Mandela effect, that's just ANOTHER case, in the LONG line of cases, where a remake needlessly changed something from its far superior original. That is simply a case of writers/producers/directors not knowing or caring about source material. Nothing new there. Also, Interview With the Vampire was NOT a horror movie! It was good, but NOT horror! Also, NO ONE thought Freddy's sweater was red and black. We ALL knew it was red/green!

@@Meee261 It wasn't the worst-cough- Nightmare remake- cough, but I wouldn't call it good, personally. The original Candyman is one of my favorite movies, ever since I was a kid. Tony Todd was PEEERFECT in the role, and the film overall is a masterpiece. It didn't need to be remade, and shouldn't have been. Nothing new was added, but more jump scares. That's just what I think, but I guess if you enjoyed, you win. lol

No, you are correct. The eyes are shown in a very memorable close-up of the face as I saw it in the 1960s and several times since, and Mojo has made an error. Mojo has obviously only seen the cut general rating release of the film which had this close-up shot edited out. It was a special prosthetic effect created by a famous entertainment industry make-up effects artist for the film.

edits and cuts from the versions used in foriegn countries could explain Horror movie "Mandela Effects" away, but there is one I distincly recall from the 1970's classic 'Burnt Offerings' staring Karen Black and Oliver Reed. Last scene before Ben jumps out the window upon seeing Marian has transformed into the Mrs Allardyce. She says "I've been waiting for you Ben" tho I clearly always remembered her saying "I've been waiting for you Benji". The affectionate way she called him throughout the movie. It made it all the more terrifing to hear her say "Benji" in a menacing tone, but apparantly that version never existed. Even on IMBD the quote states "...Ben" not Benji. There are others. I just get the feeling something was changed in certain movies , but can't quite put my finger on it.

I think the Interview With The Vampire, it can easily be chalked up to the fact that "The" and "A" can easily be interchangeable in certain phrases in the English language. Especially like when you hear about movies or titles or phrases for the first time at a young age. When using "the" and "a" in a sentence or a phrase it can easily be misheard in certain situations depending on how you annunciate, but your brain registers it that way anyway. So some of these Mandela effects can easily be chalked up to just misinterpretations. I do very much feel that some things have been altered purposely, but not everything.
