For the most part, Home Alone 1’s traps would inflict injuries that would never heal in your lifetime, while Home Alone 2’s traps would kill you without a doubt.

Actually in Home Alone 1, the paint can to the face would have a 40-45% chance to crack your skull (info from Mark Rober), inducing unconsciousness and a probable brain bleed, which would cause death if untreated. That’s the biggest one but there are multiple traps that would infect open wounds (nail in the tar), crack vertebrae (falling on ice, iron down the laundry chute and basically any injury where something falls on your head), puncture a lung (crowbar to the sternum), etc. But yes, I 100% agree that Home Alone 2’s traps are way worse

@@The_Risen_Phoenix I can see your point, but more casual-minded folks like myself would think that there’s a small chance for Harry and Marv to barely survive all of the traps in Home Alone 1 realistically speaking. But for Home Alone 2’s traps, there’s absolutely no chance Harry and Marv would be able to survive at all.

The fact that Harry and Marv survive these house traps, not to mention relatively unscathed with no external bleeding (maybe internal, though it does not seem to affect their agility), shows that Home Alone 1 and 2 are sci-fi comedies which cannot be replicated in real-life. Pretty impressive they shot these scenes without computer effects.

His wife left him, while his sons, in his words, only ever visited to get money from him so that they could buy things.

I've watched both *"Home Alone"* and *"Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York",* and as entertaining as both movies were, I've often wondered how the actors, Joe Pesci and Dan'l Stern *("Marv and Harry")* managed to survived all that happened throughout the movie. Most of the attacks against them were so brutal that even a stunt person would've gotten killed if hit in the right part of the body. I cannot imagine dunking one's one head into a toilet filled with kerosine and surviving the explosion. How the hell Harry survived is beyond me, or how about Harry and Marv getting hit in the face by a pipe. What the hell?! And there's no way anyone could've survived being hit in the face by bricks.

Got to give a lot of praise to the stunt performers of these movies, especially in regards to the "ice slip & falls." As highlighted in the Netflix series, "The Movies That Made Us," episode of "Home Alone," the stunt performers of the slips not only performed the stunts so brilliantly that the crews filming the stunts cringed (or even turned away) when the performers executed the falls, the stunt performers also insisted on doing multiple takes to make sure the falls looked absolutely horrific.

I get that the first two movies are classics (my family watches them every year) but seriously the third had seriously deadly traps. Before the lawnmower, Burton was electrocuted, thrown into a wall (twice). Mr Unger was also electrocuted, then he and dupree had a trunk full of books dropped on them, followed by a loaded gym weight. Alice had a packed flower pot to the head (twice), the first time she fell face first into mud while unconscious from the pot. Unger and Burton jump from the attic into the pool. So that height plus freezing cold water while in a snow storm, yeah, definitely dead. Then Alice follows in their unlucky steps by falling butt-first down the dumbwaiter shaft. Dupreee got off easier than the others, until the end. Not sure if he'd survive a snowfort lined with fireworks. At least seriously scarred.

Man... When Harry slips on the stairs and falls back, I always feel that one in my bones. Maybe it's just the sound, but I think that was the one trap in the first one I honestly felt and actually sorta felt bad for Harry and Marv. And as someone who nearly broke his leg slipping on frozen stairs back when I worked in a ski resort, yes, I can attest that falling on ice is a great way to get major injuries. I got lucky I didn't actually break my leg the way I landed. Honestly, I feel like my kneecap should have shattered the way I landed, along with other things.

if i had to choose one of the options mentioned that happened in this video id go with the slipping on ice ...the closest i ever done to that was fall down 3 steps and while walking on the street so not as bad as the two situations they went through in this movie but still have a good idea of how much it must have hert and figure would be less painful then the other options

@5:34, I wonder about the dust from the cement. I don't think that it's safe to breathe in that stuff. @8:56, this reminded me of the cartoon. Tom Cat looked at his tail two times and then panicked in one episode. @10:15, I now have an idea of how you can execute a prisoner by stoning (throwing rocks) in the Old Testament.

I still watch the first two movies every year around Christmas, and I still laugh my ass off at these traps. I think I'm a sadist. Oh, and I feel like the trunk from the third movie should've gotten a mention. A large, heavy trunk full of thick, possibly heavy books falling on someone's head does not sound survivable. Like, at all. I don't even think you need the books.

The arc welder on the sink is also insanely dangerous, the model used in the movie is the Lincoln electric AC-225 arc welder. Plugs into a 50 amp 240 V outlet and can produce up to 225 A of current on the output side, average house in the US is between 150 and 200 A capacity for the entire place.

I'm sure somebody's commented on this before but while Harry may have gotten the worst of it in Home Alone, Marv definitely got it worse in the sequel. Electrocution, a fall from a second floor, a shelf falling on him, a bag of concrete and several bricks to the face just to name a few... damn. Poor Marv.

Till one week ago, I didn't even know there are more than 2 movies. In Germany the movies are called "Kevin alone at home" and "Kevin alone in New York". So I get why it's hard to get the third one without Kevin. But I'm also glad the other movies didn't polarize that much in Germany due to the lack of quality after loosing Kevin

When I was a small child, Kevin messing with the burglars with his traps was a horror film but now I see it's comedy. Also Macauley Culkin has compared Kevin to Henry Evans saying he is the dark side of him but because Kevin was empathy and love, he directs his cruelty towards those who does harm for others while Henry has no love and passion so he targets his own family and those close to him.
