Salaries really depends on the individual regardless of the profession. I am a lawyer here in the Philippines and I earn much more than the average surgeon/judge mentioned. Maybe those figures applies only to single source of income, that is, salary from only one employer. :) Civil engineers can accept multiple projects and earn millions per month. I guess what I am trying to say is that... income really depends on the person and the value s/he brings to other people. I also know a lot of people who have no formal education earning much more than professionals, so titles really are not the determining factor to one's success :) God bless! love your content!

Are these values gross or net income?

My friend she’s a public middle school teacher in the US making $40K/year and she’s not getting paid over the summer. My mom used to be a public school teacher in the Philippines were getting paid all year round (she’s retired now). If you’re making $40K in the US that’s regular salary and not much unless you send it to Philippines, everyone knows it.

Question: What kind of work do you (and your parents) do to have relocated to the PI? I would love to do relocate sooner rather than later but want a comfortable retirement fund to not worry about money when I'm there. Looks like another 15 years for that.

@@TheSavvyExpat there is such a wide disparity, especially for the professionals, between salaries there and here. Although I understand the cultural and economic differences it never ceases to amaze me.

It’s true in the U.S. we are making a lot of dollars but cost of living is high and our quality of life here being a worker is not breezy. Very stressful being in the health care industry. We are in production everyday. Doctors here in the U.S. have a big student loans almost 1/2 million dollars. They have to get liability insurance for at least million dollars. Specially for surgeons they are required to get liability insurance because our law in the U.S. patient can sue the doctors and hospital together for negligence. Even our pharmacist and nurses has to get their own liability insurance because it’s one of the requirements where I work. Nurses here are being abused and they work long hours and they cannot even eat their lunch on time. It’s good money but it’s not good for your health. One nurse that I have heard worked for thirty years and retired shortly she ended up in the nursing home herself. She cannot even enjoy her life being retired because she’s paralyzed.

Healthcare workers are not appreciated enough for the amount risks they took during Covid and the extremely huge workload. I hope they give you enough extra days off to destress. Just wearing those hazmat suits and face Shields and masks all day while contemplating when to take a toilet break is stressful enough.

People in government offices here in the Philippines follow a Salary Grade (SG). The President of the Philippines is SG 33 earning more or less PHP400K per month.

I recently watched a video by a Filipina doctor who tool salaries for doctors. $500/mo USD for a doctor in a private hospital while a doctor in a public hospital was $1000/mo. That surprised me. I'd assumed more at a private hospital. She didn't seem sure why the difference or I didn't understand, but maybe a doctor at a public hospital has a higher work load. She explained the low salary compared to Western countries to there being a lot of doctors in PH. That made sense to me that limited opportunities would push bright young people into a more certain career as a doctor. Maybe also the Asian stereotype of mothers pushing kids into high profile careers like being doctors and lawyers. I have noticed in YT videos interviewing young Filipinos and they say their majors it's almost always related to hotel/tourism or teaching. It's little wonder those degrees lead to being a store clerk because there's no way tourism or teaching could use all those grads.

Don't worry about this, that's just a small detail. Even mathematicians use calculators. There are many many fields that don't require mathematics. People with very high IQs are not necessarily great in math. It's much more about logic

Noticed the highest paying careers were avoided. Army general and senator. Salary not that high, but somehow magically extremely wealthy. I saw a video of a young Filipina showing off her beautiful huge beach mansion full of expensive art. She's the daughter of a Army general. US generals earn much less. This is true with many PH gov workers. Salary is low, but "opportunities" are high. For example some foreigners know about not being able to own land in PH (and other Asian countries) and the workaround of buying land but putting a random Filipino (called a "dummy owner" by Filipinos) on title and leasing the land from the Filipino. But the law allowing this wasn't created for foreigners. It was created by gov officials so they could hold property without having their name on title. Title is registered, leases aren't. So if someone wanted to "gift" some land to a "friend" in the gov no one would know. There are many wealthy Filipinos in PH who earn a salary. But it's not the salary that made them wealthy.

I enjoyed this video. Mostly because I love seeing how hard working my fellow pinoys are. I live in Makati in a condo and most of the filipinos in my building can afford to live here because they earned their money in other countries and just retired here in Philippines. It's kinda sad that filipinos can't really earn enough to buy a condo.

FYI, there are millions of Millennials that can't afford to buy a residence in North America. Go look up Vancouver. It'll take 12-18 years of income to afford a place. Do you really think all Filipinos make it in North America? A lot of Pinoys I know in Toronto and Vancouver are working two jobs and renting. Hand to mouth existence. It's sad to see

I think PBA players on average earn 120K pesos a month. The top players probably over 500K pesos before endorsements

They don't have to worry about that in the U.S. either. Before any major surgery in the U.S., you have to sign a release of liability, which means if the surgeon fucks up, oh well. It's been like that since the Reagan era. Plus healthcare in the U.S. is obscenely expensive. That's why healthcare in the U.S. is ranked only 37th in the world. That's nothing to brag about. The U.S. sucks.

Americans go to other countries for cosmetic surgery. There is a Mexican town near the border that caters to Americans for dental procedures. Every developed nation has perfectly competent doctors. My doctor friend moved to Vancouver. In Canada he has to drive the kids to school and pick them up, buy groceries at Costco every week, take out the Garbage, wash the dishes and he lives in a Vancouver Special ..... In Manila he has three maids, a driver, and he plays golf with a caddie (no caddies in Van and most don't have golf carts). He has a huge house and vacation home in Tagaytay. Guess where he decided to live?

The highest paying job in the Philippines is that of a politician.

Salary comparisons are pretty much meaningless to me if you don't mention relative cost of living. Take for instance the cost of a degree in the US vs Phil. Last I looked there are 46 million Americans with student loans. Many of those loans will take more than ten years to pay off or maybe even never, hoping instead for Government forgiveness. Now let's compare salaries of lawyers. Sure lawyers in the US can earn $240,000 a year but how many lawyers in the US do you know that have two live in domestic helpers and a driver. They usually won't because they can't afford it but a lawyer in the Phil can.

Regardless of cost of living differences between America and the PH there's still a stark difference in lifestyle among equal professions on both sides. Doctors, lawyers, etc are a tiny minority. They are going to live well no matter where they are. What stands out more that most Filipinos are acquainted with is nursing. RN's in the Philippines make so little a lot of them would rather work in a call center. RN in America can easily earn 60-100k a year which puts you well above the American median. Engineering is another big one.

I think you need to factor in cost of living too, it's much more expensive to live in the U.S. and most people aren't going to accept a job with pay so low they can't even live on it. I think it's pretty sad that as a retired veteran I make more in retirement pay than the bottom 2 jobs, and I just sit around all day to get it, while the people in those fields work their butts off for it.

The cost of living in America is 10 x that of the Philippines Rent in America is nearly $4,000 per month and food @ $50 per person per day.... And if you were sick in America go to that doctor and pay for an hour of his time.😂😂😂 ⚰👍
