My is the same age with Pele. When i talk football, he mentions Pele.
There are over 400 players who have won a World Cup, 19 players won it twice (14 from Brazil, 4 from Italy's back-to-back title in the 1930s and Daniel Passarella from Argentina) and only one man has won 3 of them. Pele never had to play in Europe to prove his merit, he was doing exactly that every 4 years. Heck, if Pele hadn't been fouled repeatedly during the 1966 World Cup, he could've won 4 consecutive World Cup titles.

As a player yes, but zagalo also from Brazil won it 5 times, 2 times as a player next to Pele, 2 as a assistant coach and 1 as a head coach. RIP king Pele.

@@YooooAdrian553 at the time south american leagues were just as strong as the european leagues. Our best players were not going to Europe at 18 years of age like nowadays. And in fact, Pelé did played against european teams in many tours Santos did in Europe and this games were taken seriously by the teams, it was not the same thing as the friendly matches today. He played 130 games against european teams and scored 144 goals.

60s ,70s players used to drink even during half time😁, the rest you can imagine yourself. Nothing against him but little bit overrated for sure, but can say definetly in top 5 players of all time. 1962 worldcup, he just played one game full and the other game got injured. 1970 worldcup , player of the tournament and top scorer was Gerd muller, Pele was not even top scorer for Brazil, it was Jarziniho with 5 goals in the tournament. That time 1970 worldcup was just 16 teams with teams like Israel, El salvador, Morroco, Bulgaria, Romania 😁😁, come on man. On club level also only played in farmer league, lets be honest 😁.
Its crazy how while watching Pele in the 50s - 70s it looked not far to how players look today, compared to how night and day basketball pre and post Jordan. Influence is a large part of greatness. Somewhere along the way the generations that followed collectively agreed that "This is how the game should be played". Pele, Ali, MJ and others added so much to the formular of their sport that they became the new blueprints.
Pelé changed the history of my country. Brazil is one before him and another after. This is an emotional moment for us. The King, the GOAT, isn't here anymore. RIP Pelé 👑
I haven't witnessed this guy, but I have to thank him for turning football into a worldwide lovely sport! Obrigado Pelé! Serás sempre o Rei!

His final game was an exhibition match between the Santos and the NASL's New York. Cosmos, for which he was playing at the time. He played with the Cosmos in the first half, then for the Santos in the second. I don't recall the final score, but he scored a goal for both teams. The absolute GOAT of the game we call soccer. Absolute king, legend and icon. This man was the first international athlete ever, rubbed shoulders with kings, queens, presidents and heads of states as an honored guest, had a Middle East sheik wait for him in a airport for a chance to meet him, stopped a war in Africa for 2 days because both sides wanted to see him play and was the first athlete to advocate for equal treatments for all races in soccer. RIP Edson Arantes Nascimento (Pelé)
An inspiration to football generations young and old. Farewell to the star who changed the game. Obrigado, Pelé.

I had never liked sports, and as a young child I didn't know much, however I knew who Pelé was! Now as an adult even though soccer or football ⚽️ as is called is not a sport I follow I do watch the world cup, and this man's legacy and name will forever be intertwined. R.I.P. to the man, the legend , an icon that truly transcended sports. The world 🌎 has lost a precious gem. I hope all his loved ones were close and there to say goodbye to him. We love you Pelé!!!
Rip pele legend of football king of Brazil 🇧🇷
One of the greats! R.I.P., legend Pelé!
I love it ,he is better than any other players here ,RIP Man ,RIP man😓😓
It's hard to debate who is the greatest football player of all time because football has changed so much. Of course if you watch an entire match from the 60s, you'd think Pelé is not that good, everything is much slower, and the game was simpler. Of course. But if that's how you go about comparing different players, then be ready to listen to 2050's kids saying Messi or Cristiano are crap, because they will look like amateurs 30 years from now ... But what I can guarantee, is that ... Pelé is the greatest SPORTS SUPERSTAR of all time. He transcended football. Halted a civil war in Zaire so people could see him play. Made people in the United States know who he is and what soccer is (in the 70s !!) , met several US presidents who flocked to him for meetings and pictures. Made a Hollywood movie with Silverster Stallone. At one point in time, "Pelé" was the second most known WORD in the ENTIRE PLANET, only losing to "Coca-Cola". Named athlete of the century by the International Olympic Committee despite not participating in any olympic games. Filled the San Siro Stadium in Italy, in 1990, to see him play at his 50th birthday, against global superstars. Became an ambassador for the sport and managed to attract hundreds and hundreds of fans, dying to meet him, even at 80 years old, wherever he went. I kid you not, no human in the history of sports, was elevated to superstardom like Pelé.
Athlete of the century, player of the century, 3 world cups, greatest world cup player, king of football, simply the greatest of all time
Greatest Soccer player ever. RIP LEGEND 🙏
RIP GOAT 😥
REST EASY KING PELE. THE BEST EVER. ✔✔✔✔👑

Like Pelé said, when Maradona died "One day, I hope we can play ball together in heaven" now they have time to shine on blue pitch ❤️
Thank you king for the memories
He won 3 World Cup and scored a 1000 goals what a true legend, Athlete of the Century, FiFa player of the Century, may he rest in peace
Football made Messi, Pele made football the "beautiful game". There is a reason why most great players around the globe chose to put on the number 10 shirt!
No matter how many good football palyers come out, Pele will always be the epitome, model & the king of football. Most of you didn't have the opportunity to see Pelé play ball, perhaps his greatness is not immediately apparent today. Moves we've all seen & admired, by modern giants, performed by Pelé, nearly half a century ago. It is worth thinking that at that time Pelé did not have the opportunity to see someone doing these things, or to copy even something, and put it in his game, but they were inspirations that he was creating from him for first time.
Rip Pele we will never forget you pele Pele The Legend 💪💪
Pelé, the world's greatest soccer / football player! What a great man 🗣⚽️🥇

Today my day told me a story while watching the news on Pele’s passing. He told me he once had the honor of meeting Pele himself at a restaurant in NYC while he was working there, he said Pele gave every restaurant staff an autograph including my dad with his name and a special message to him, he even got to talk to him and joke a bit with him, and one of his coworkers even asked him for money. My dad hung that autograph with pride on his wall when he was young, now that autograph is somewhere hidden in a box at home. I never knew my dad meet him at all he never talked about it until today 25 years later. What a nice story somehow makes me feel connected with Pele in a way. RIP “O Rei Pele”
