No list of midfielders is complete without PIRLO .

In terms of ability. Mathaus had it all just watch his highlights. Speed, vision, shooting, defense, work rate. He’s a complete player right up there with goats like Messi and Pele. Maradona said he was his greatest opponent. 💯

How on earth could you miss Zico, ?, world class he was. Yes furious indeed, Zico one of the All time greats, was a gifted midfielder of another level. Even in todays game he would have stood out as the best. Shocking and unbelievable you missed out Zico, who should have been in the top 4.

Don't know if you could call maradona a mid fielder he was more a play maker that would sit behind the centre forward but would agree he was one of a small group who I believe where a head of zidane but zidane was the best centre midfielder that I've seen I would have him in top 3 player's of all time

between xavi and iniesta..there was the Legendary..most underrated/the best midfilder of all time... the Argentine JRR...even zidane waiting him in tunnel to get his jersey..and messi also use his trademark..cupping his ears when celebrated goal..to remind Holland coach in WC quater final..for what he did to Riquelme in Barcelona

Of course you're gonna rank Mr. Overrated himself, Zizou himself, to be the best midfielder of all time. He was way more inconsistent than Modric and Iniesta, and had very bad goal and assist ratio, making a measly 0.19 goals per match and 0.11 assist per match. Try and compare that to Zico, Rivellino, Cruyff, Messi, and Baggio, who played in exactly the same positions. He was elegant, but that doesn't mean he was the best!
