Rule 1: Never say never. 2:53 With Gabera, he may only appear as a fictional character in someone's mind, but that is a stepping stone to a bigger point: There is potential for a Godzilla-sized Freddy Krueger. Just imagine the potential one can have from a character that only appears in the 'imagination' or as a 'fictional character' invading the heads of anyone, even kaiju themselves. Perhaps on Monster island, Gabera is invading the monster's dreams, and Godzilla fights him in a dream-like world.

To me Dogora is the most under appreciated and underrated kaiju from toho. It dwarfs every movie kaiju to date and is almost virtually indestructible. A truly terrifying alien kaiju.

Godzilla's team up with Jet Jaguar after saving him is one of the most iconic moments ever in the Kaiju Genre .

Honestly given how popular he is, I could see toho trying spacegodzilla again though I imagine his origin story would be VERY different.

If memory serves me correctly. The issue with Jet Jaguar was more along the line of he was to similar to Ultraman and the threat of lawsuits if used again.

If so that's honestly stupid. Jet Jaguar and Megalon in terms of design and concept were made literally by a child who just so happened to win a contest set up by Toho, offering to make the winner's kaiju into a movie. Of course it got turned into a Godzilla movie with Gigan because execs were afraid it was gonna do poorly as its own stand alone idea.

@@linksnivey1161 Actually the kids original design was altered heavily to look like the one in the movie.

The reason that Varan's role was minimal in "Destroy All Monsters" was that the suit was degraded beyond use when reclaimed from the props warehouse what was shown on screen was the puppet used for Varan's flying scenes from its original move that was still usable. Varan as well as Anguiras were both set to appear along with Barugon in Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S. during the Millennium Era but both were scrapped to use Mothra and King Ghidora who were far more popular kaiju in an attempt to increase ticket sales.

Zilla has been regaining popularity, given he got a new X-Plus DeForeal statue released that sold out quickly, and an inclusion in the Planet of Monsters trilogy novel. Even got a BluRay of his movie. Now there's fans creating statues and articulated figures of him. I'd kill for him to have another movie appearance, or anime one.

(#7) no, that isn't Mothra. that is her son: Mothra Leo. the only female of that entire trilogy was Leo's mother in the very 1st film. all of Leo's transformations is still the same creature just with new upgrades. if we got to see him transform, it would most likely be new transformations and inspired designs since it wont even be the same exact creature from those films unless they were to establish a connection. I'm definitely sure that we'll see a return of Mothra Leo & Battra someday since they do have a devoted fan base and are unique monsters that expands the Mothra family tree in an interesting way.

A monster I hope returns, or well...debut in that case. Bagan. By god they tried like hell to make him a thing and I hope they manage to fit him into something at some point, with the number of attempts at bringing him to life they did, they must have been proud of that monster to some degree and I'd really love to see him come to life. His appearance in the SNES game feels like such a tease.

Honestly Space Godzilla's origin could be made more serious with the right tweaking: make some parasitic alien living crystal in the style of the Monolith Monsters or Tiberium from _Command and Conquer,_ give it the ability to clone things it assimilates, and then do that to Godzilla and bam, you got a serious SpaceGodzilla out to absorb the world in its crystalline body or something, has a lot of potential for body horror, and I'll be honest, I would probably combine elements of Shin Godzilla for good measure, to really push that alien aspect of SpaceGodzilla (after a fashion) since Shin's fifth form is basically a Xenomorph from _Alien_ with Godzilla's dorsal plates. I have to admit tnat my first Godzilla film was the TriStar one, and well, the first thing that people watch in a franchise tends to be the one that sticks to them personally, and this is the one that stuck to me. Though I've reconciled with the fact Zilla is a separate monster from Godzilla, I kinda wish the hate of Zilla would kinda die down now, as its kind of getting a bit tiresome and old-hat, and for me personally, is kind of an old wound that made me swear off the Godzilla franchise for my entire teenage life because of how taxing it was to my state of mind, and see Zilla given something new that builds off the animated series based on it.

Funnily enough, the Snowman partially returns in Godzilla: Rage Across Time in the first issue. He can be seen looking out of a cave

Jet Jaguar almost definitely appears in a modern film, they're in love with mecha these days and super powers, and if they never sign off on a crossover with pacific rim, you have to think they'll use him as a similar option.

He could work, As an alien parasite. It scans the earth for its Apex creature, and turns into it. This ofcourse being godzilla, But since its an alien parasite, it could alter godzilla to how it wants, becomign SPACE-GODZILLA! And then causing havoc, and godzilla has to stop it.

Thank you for including mothra's other forms from the spin-off series. They're not really talked about in videos so it was nice to see.

#5. Yeah, I can't really see SpaceGodzilla coming back any time soon either, especially in the MonsterVerse. Sure we've had Ghidorah and MechaGodzilla, but their origins fit within the real of that world and has made sense with each iteration. SpaceGodzilla's origin is not only absurd as all hell, but he comes off as a Ghidorah/MechaGodzilla repeat: a rival from space; an evil twin/clone (yes, SpaceG is a mutant not a robot, but it's the same category), two things we saw already except he's both in one. Not to mention making another enemy that is also based on Godzilla himself? Yeah, SpaceG is cool and all but he really is an unoriginal creation, even Toho knew this and why they had to step up their game and gave us Destoroyah. #3. Zilla could work as a Gojira subspecies that instead of evolving for strength and power like Godzilla he'd evolve for speed and agility at the expense of sacrificing that strength. Even though the monster has been redeemed over the years and is becoming more accepted, especially due to the MonsterVerse succeeding where TriStar failed, I do see how it'd be difficult for Toho to bring him back in any future Godzilla projects - American or Japanese. #2. 10:11 My own ideas for Jet Jaguar is that instead of being a giant mech as some would argue he's instead a straight up superhero, a guy with an strange alien suit composed of nanomachines and other alien material that would allow him to change any size. Basically the Green Lantern, Ben 10, or Blue Beetle origin. Yeah, I get that is radically changing the character and origin, to which again one would ask why don't I just make an original character instead, but it's a cool idea to think about.

Regarding the Griffon, a monster called the Griffon was actually considered to be the antagonist for the original script for what became the 1998 film.

The Snowman looks really interesting. I would settle for a bootleg of that film

From what I heard. Toho was thinking of releasing Half Human on VHS, in the 1990s. But decided not to release it. From there, bootlegs of the japanese cut started to be made.

A BIG fan of those 'Monster movies' from Japan, you answered Many of my questions of those unknown monsters, like Varan (didn't know its name, but do see it flying off - "Destroy All Monsters"). But a Walrus???? What did it sound like????!!!! Griffin & Jet Jaguar..... WOW.... Never saw those...MayBe J.J. Otherwise..... Good video, Nice narration, well researched!!

Frankenstein wasn't licensed, it's a public domain character so long as Toho doesn't violate certain copyrights and and trademarks (such as Universals' classic Boris Karloff make-up design) there's nothing stopping them from including him.

Fun video! And I want to give my take on some of the kaiju on your list. FYI - I became a Godzilla/Ultraman fan in 1965. My family was stationed in Okinawa at the time. OK, on to the list!...Mecha-Kong. Too bad. He was a great villain, and genuinely creeped me out when I first saw him on the big screen in about 1970. (A "kiddie-matinee") ..... Alas poor Gabara. He was not such a bad villain. But he appeared in a schmaltzy movie. I saw this when it was released in the U.S. It was a movie aimed at kids, with a nice anti-bullying message. I was a kid when I saw it. And I thought - to heck with this crap......."Zilla." Thank God we won't see her again. I didn't experience such anger again until I saw The Last Jedi....Jet Jaguar - Yeah, he's very likable. But he is kinda an Ultraman ripoff. Just saying...... I've saved the best for last, Varan, who's a real heart breaker. True, overall his debut movie deflated in the 2nd half, but he's got a great design, and his destruction of the mountain village is one of the best tokusatsu sequences ever. You failed to mention he was slated to make a comeback in Kaneko's "GMK" movie - but Toho switched him and Angirus out for Mothra and Ghidora. Love Mothra and Ghidora, but that was a bad call.

Some of these might be in that Netflix anime movie or whatever, but they've yet to reappear in a *live action* movie, and I doubt they ever will.

Well-presented, interesting but concise.

I wanna put forth the argument that Biollante is less likely to be touched by TOHO than Space Godzilla. The real reason Jet Jaguar had been shelved despite his popularity was due to the fact he existed as the result of a contest. As a result, the kid (now adult) who made him gets royalties for creating the character. Biollante is in a nearly identical situation as she was created as the result of a contest. TOHO is a very frugal studio, so that's why. It's also more likely to be why they may hold of on Space Godzilla rather than "he's to outlandish of a character" as Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla did cause problems for TOHO on a monetary end and I'd argue his origin and concept is less ludicrous than anything from the Godzilla animes.

Hey the Varan suit just rotted over the years and the flying prop was what was left so if the suit didn’t rot he would be used way more.

If I remember correctly mechani-Kong isn't a Toho creation but actually originated in the old king kong cartoon.

Jet Jaguar is essentially Ultraman and Mazinkaiser combined and was created by a fan in a contest created by Toho. The original name by the fan was Red alone. Toho changed the name themselves. Most likely to sell movie tickets. So basically as long as Ultraman is still making appearances; Jet Jaguar is as well. And JJ did come back in singular point. Zilla was the father of the Kaiju called Godzilla which was made to resemble Godzilla more. And Godzilla did have his atomic breath. In fact there was an episode in which Zilla fought his son Godzilla. Finally; if the snowman does come back it will most likely be in a King Kong movie.

There are a lot of monsters not mentioned on the list that will never return: Titanosaurus, King Caesar, Megalon, Manda, and whatever those bugs things were in Rodan.

Honestly I feel like a lot of toho monsters could work well in films where they fight each other and just leave Godzilla out of the mix every now and then. I mean, I love Godzilla, but there are some fights I would love to see that I feel can't happen in a satisfying way if Godzilla is present in the film, since he has to be the one to kick ass

Nuts. Space Godzilla is a perfect fit for the inevitable alien invasion story that so many kaiju movies use. Dump the silly black hole origin and have be a genetically engineered alien superweapon designed to counter Godzilla. The story practically writes itself, and as you said, it's an awesome monster design. We could do with a return to the invaders-with-monsters plots for a bit, if nothing else as an homage to the older days. Plus you could do things like team-ups with the other "on-call space monster" types like Ghidorah and Gigan.

10:16 To be honest, godzilla himself from that era is also pretty much a different character when compared to modern godzilla, so I don't see much of an issue with that. Specially if we get a badass design like that

They could have saved the Godzilla 98 film if they had renamed the monster and the film to "Godzilla: Gorosaurus Takes Manhattan". Zilla is a horrible Godzilla but a passable Gorosaurus. Besides that, the Godzilla 98 movie is a copy of "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" movie.

Toho loved JJ enough to bring him back in Singular Point, so there's that I guess. And even if the Snowman wasn't from a banned film, how would Toho even make him a worthwhile kaiju? Yeah, he's got the size on humans. But any decent-sized kaiju can just step on him, and he's done.

The gargantuans also. One film I think.

Used to watch these old Godzilla movies as a child... Scared the heck outta me!

Odd. Thought Megalon was gonna be on the list.

(This is just something I thought of whilst watching the video) A way they could bring Jet Jaguar into a film and keep the size changing power without making it too lighthearted whilst keeping it more realistic (still a bit sci fi but hypothetically possible)is to use the concept of nanomachines. They could add a subplot where a swarm of seemingly evil nanomachines escape from a lab and start eating rubbish and pollution to grow grey goo style (tricking the audience to think its Hedorah )then when it gets big enough a little bit splits off then takes a humanoid form revealing it as benevolent Jet Jaguar as a plot twist then when a kaiju battle involving Godzilla (maybe Godzilla rampaging or battling another kaiju) the human sized Jet Jaguar reforms into the greater nanomachine mass which changes into a kaiju sized version of Jet Jaguar which enters the battle. This could allow Jet Jaguar to have new abilities similar to the weapon the suit Iron man has in infinity wars .

If I remember correctly Jet Jaguar was a concept piece. They were basically using that robot for proof of concept for Ultraman. So honestly I don't see him ever returning in Tohos live action Mosterverse they are planning. However alot of the rest of these could return because they do plan to make more movies based in the same world as Shin Godzilla not sure of the end game there.

Mothra will most likely come back as a more powerful transformation based of the end credits scene of king of the monsters

I’d kill to see Zilla return. I grew up on the 98 film so it would make my day if they brought him back. Varan would be cool as well.

Griffin made a little cameo role in the opening logos of Godzilla KOTM.

I hope to one day see King Ceasar on screen again. He was only in 2 Godzilla movies, but he's honestly my favorite kaiju (wish he looked different in final wars tho).

Enjoyed this, but kinda couldn't stop myself from giving some notes, soary: Frankenstein is most emphatically NOT a licensed character. The novel was 147 years old at the time of the film's release and although copyright law can be a labyrinthine headache to unravel sometimes, there is NO copyright law that has EVER existed that would force Toho to license the character from the Shelley estate nearly 150 years later. Individual iterations of the character can be copyrighted, such as Universal's take, which is why Hammer's Frankenstein monsters looked nothing like the flat top design until The Evil of Frankenstein, where Universal specifically okay'd it. Both Toho Frankenstein films were distributed by AIP and as far as I know Universal never touched them, nor does their Frankenstein monster resemble the flat-topped bolt-necked Universal monster in any way. They can, if they wish, re-use their 1965 version or the two other Frankenstein monsters spawned from him, Gaira and Sanda, whenever and however they please without limitations, just as much as they can create another, wholly new version of the monster. They still probably won't but not for legal reasons. Mechanikong is, however, actually *not* a Toho character, as its first appearance was in the Rankin-Bass/Toei co-production of the King Kong Show. Its appearance in King Kong Escapes comes from that film being intended as the movie version of the cartoon, with Rankin-Bass co-producing. However, if Toho really wanted to use the character, to the point of paying for a Kong license, I doubt they'd face any kind of litigation, and like I don't think Rankin-Bass exists anymore anwyas. Zilla's sole defining trait as a character is that he is constantly mistaken for Godzilla, it's his only thing, and he's never going to get a new "thing." I really don't see a reason for him ever being in a film again, but I wouldn't count out a throwaway reference to a "monster the Americans claimed was Godzilla" in a future film. And I personally hope there will be, because it's endlessly amusing to me even decades later when Zilla's really the lesser of two evils.

I wouldn't mind seeing Titanosaurus again.

It would be fun to see godzilla in jet team up again I grew up watching the old godzilla movie's seeing godzilla have a tag team match with jet was great loved it as a kid in would love it today if they would bring him back that would be awesome

Also, Snowman got a sweet gig on "Attack on Titan" 😉

For Space, I think he really needs a redesign. Basically just a clone except with crystals all over. They should really go all out with the crystal concept by making him entirely out of it. Like Crystalzilla or something.

I actually believe the snowman was briefly referenced in the original Gojira film ^^ When Dr Yamane is in the conferance room and speculates about the existance of Gojira and mentions that it's not out of the question since there are claims of people finding traces of snowmen. Very brief but this info gives new light on that line ^^ Maybe Half human and Gojira 1954 are in the same universe ;) Or it's just a reference. Who knows ^^

I know it's obscure but what are your thoughts on Godzilla vs. The Wolfman..??? Very hard to find, if not impossible. I remember watching as a kid on a "Creature Feature" episode.

I love Jet Jaguar❤❤❤ In this age of Pacific Rim Jagers and Evangelical animes, Jet Jaguar may return bigger and badder than ever. Jet is the Ultraman of Kaijus. If Toho Ltd. has the rights, they'd be smart to reboot Jet Jaguar, into his own miniseries co-starring current monsterverse villians and allies... Because Kaijus never die unless totally vaporized. So, I would definitely love to see a miniseries of Jet on Netflix.😍
