Genoa - A game about nothing.

I love Jeremy’s personality and how it meshes with Zee and Tom. Didn’t agree with a lot of his picks but I hope we see more of him and get to see what he enjoys!

This was one of the most entertaining episodes. Though everyone may not agree with the choices, it was a delight to listen to the conversation. Top ten best episode!

I too just can't get into Terraforming Mars.. But I do enjoy Wingspan because it's clean easy to understand style. For me Mars is too long and Wingspan needs to be one round longer. You were great to watch, made your case well but my cheeks hurt from smiling.

Stumbled upon this 9 months late, lol, but love how both silly & effusive these guys are together while discussing these games. The more of this vibe on Dice Tower the better; I love when Tom looks like he's having a blast.

Can you imagine the audience reaction if this had been done at a convention.

I feel like Tom and Zee did "games we hate". Jeremy just did mostly "games that are highly rated but are not for me." Fun list as always!

But he's the one that picked the topic! It's just weird to me for him to be all, "Let's do Top 10 Games We Hate...Of course, I don't *hate* games." Okay...? I'm sure Tom would have been fine changing the option to Top 10 Least Favorite Games or some such. *Disclaimer* I do not in any way thing that Jeremy is a douche. But I feel like it could come across that way. If I was the kind of person that judged the character of folks I've never met (which I'm not) it *feels* like he chose the topic just to so he could look "above" that kind of thing. However, I will give the default "I don't know you, man" benefit of the doubt and assume the whole thing was just either not thought out well or not communicated well. It was entertaining as heck to watch, though.

The combination of Zee and Jeremy is hilarious. I’m loving this.

Jeremy is so entertaining. Don’t get me wrong I disagree with a lot of his choices, Wingspan, Quacks, Arkham are some of my favourite games but I love his conviction. He’s a great complement to the Dice Tower team.

Wingspan is the game people should like ...I have never played but on every playthrough I've seen it just looks like an overexpensive Top Trumps...pretty components do not make a great game...maybe playing it is far different

Honestly i didn't find him that convincing. I might be the nature of this list bringing it out. But i felt like he is the kind of person that gives up on games quite easily. Playing it a bunch of time isn't really giving it a shot. Especially this arguments against Quacks seemed really weak.

Shots fired on Eldritch. That hits too close to home for me as thats the game that got me into the hobby. I used to like you Z! You were like a brother to me!

Nothing was more entertaining than seeing Zee’s and Tom’s facial expressions after the Quacks and Wingspan picks! Almost like a slight fear Jeremy might be too ‘controversial’ for Tower TV, lol. I was also a bit astonished by his #9, but it also made me move Quacks from ‘Must Buy’ to ‘Try before Buy’. I do value his take on so many games, so his 10 was interesting. I am not a fan of Powergrid, but Mr. Howard, at least give that one a try.

The fun of push your luck games is the thrill of, "will he stop in time and get a payoff or will he bust?" combined with short enough of a playtime where if someone gets killed by bad luck, they're not stuck sitting around effectively eliminated for too long. Quacks kills the entire thrill since no one is watching people push their luck, everyone does it on their own then looks around for results. Quacks then lasts way too long for a push your luck game. Quacks is a good concept with a pretty poor execution.

Two and a half years later is still one of my favorite top tens. This was and is so much fun to watch. Also been following Jeremy Howard ever since and glad I do.

After hearing Tom's Nr#2. I just started respecting the man a lot more... The fact that he doesn't like a concept of making fun of someone or belittling someone (unless he is absolutely sure they will not mind it) or making someone feel miserable, that's admirable. I also would absolutely be appalled if I played with my "family" and ran into those sort of situations that were described. Should have a 18+ Sticker on it I think.

Treasure Island isn't just randomly drawing lines and asking if the treasure is there (you're not looking for Long John Silver himself, he's in captivity). There's clues and deduction and bluffing and character powers and deciding if you want to help your fellow pirates or lead them astray. There's that tense final push where the character playing Long John Silver escapes and goes after the treasure, giving players that one last shot at beating them to it. It's a marvelous game.

I would love to buy it, but I'm half-colorblind and I don't want to play on the black-and-white side of the board. That's a shame, because the theme really appeals to me.

I just feel dismay when professional guys like these (whom I respect, don't get me wrong) give an impression that seems so off the mark. I wish everyone could have an accurate accounting of what a game is before they decide if it is or isn't for them. That's why one should always seek out more than one voice when it comes to describing or reviewing these things. I fell in love with it based on the review by Shut Up & Sit Down, for example.

@@TheDarkever A valid point, certainly, if your concern is not being able to discern the colorful side of the board (I dislike the drab side, too). If your concern is the markers, though, fear not. The ones that come with the game are garbage, and most everyone just goes out to get their own. So you could absolutely pick your own colors. :)

I love it, one of my all time faves, easy top 20 of all time, and unlike some of my other favourites, everyone else i played it with LOVED IT even more thsn me and rewuested replaying. Also, everyone who saw it played at our table but didnt get to play wanted me to bring it next time ao rhst they czn play too. Im just Salty the expansion was not published in my national language so I can either mix 2 different language versions or sell a game in my lamguage to buy it in foreign English. Xd.

Zee really underestimates the joy people do get from building things like farms without the manual labor of farms. There are large groups of people who loooooovee the idea of setting up homes for pigs and cows and horses and things.

I don’t think anyone in the history of Dice Tower guests has been more contentious and “wrong” than Jeremy. Very entertaining video for that alone!

Jeremy is such a breath of fresh air! More Jeremy! I was laughing at the interactions. It was brilliant.

First time I played Wingspan, I didn’t like it. But it was the pacing that made me not like it. Turns out that it was the players playing really slowly so I couldn’t keep track of my turns. On the third time I played it, I was going to pass but I wanted to play with the people that were at Strategicon,. So i said yes and joined in. I loved it! I have played it multiple times since and Love it.

30:55 Tom's reaction is exactly like that Risitas laughing meme lol. Priceless.

Jeremy had me on such an emotional rollercoaster. Underwater Cities: I respectfully disagree, good sir. Wingspan: Yes, yes, you wonderful man! Terraforming Mars: Noooo, you were supposed to be the chosen one!

I really enjoyed Zee, Tom & Sam. However, Zee, Tom & Jeremy are an equally great combination with some absolutely great back and forth joking. You watch this video and wish you were playing games with them, because they are just laughing so much. Also I like Munchkin just because you get to stab people in the back and it has funny D&D artwork.

Thanks for mentioning the pug you game. I would have thought my grandsons would like it. Sad thing is one has suicidal thoughts and this might have been a trigger for him. It's irresponsible for game companies to put so called games like this out. Thank you for sharing, very important.

All I can say is, research games, watch reviews before you buy. Especially for kids.

This was a lot of fun. Jeremy really shines interacting with y’all. I hope to see him doing more with other reviewers.

Tom's expression when Jeremy mentioned Quacks was amazing!!! It had me in fits of laughter ... and the addition of Taverns of Tiefenthal being better than Quacks, lovely!

Uplift-Your Daily Pickup perhaps the only pick I agree with Jeremy on - not hate but that one I find overrated. The push your luck, runaway leader and forced catch up mechanism does nothing for me. Too light. 6/10. But that doesn’t mean I hate it. It’s a take it or leave it game using bgg rating system.

Man I hate Quacks too. It is too long for a push your luck game, and the rat tails are not enough (it having some engine building) to make up for a bad draw on the first turn or two.

Yeah it seemed like he didn’t like the push your luck mechanism because he would too often push too far and bust? Seems like a criticism of his strategy rather than the game. Kinda like saying you hate blackjack just because the casino always takes your money.

About Dead of Winter: my issue is no the semi-coop part (personal goals), but the fact you can see where an item comes from. Ie. you can see the negative item came from the school. And if you then play even a little smart: only one player went to each location. So hey, traitor found. Oh you come to several locations others are? Perhaps you are the traitor... I know you kind want to go to specific locations, but you can minimize being on more then a few and if you don't, you probably do so to get items from all locations to fuck stuff up...

First pick of Jeremy and I instantly liked this man. After his reaction of Tom's poor Mage Knight pun I loved him. Give this man a permanent seat....

Zee is hilarious and I think he’s channeling a little of Sam too. He’s starting to get a little violent. Watch out for throat punches soon!

This is now one of my favorite dice tower videos of all time 😂 and hands down the funniest. Bring Jeremy back!

The worst part about terraforming mars are the people who play it yet actively don't terraform mars to drag the game out.

More Jeremy! His honesty and Zee's is refreshing and correct. "What's the most interesting part of Agricola [All Creatures Big and Small]?" "Building the pens of animals." Yeah.....no. Just because something is popular doesn't make it good. ("People love penning animals!" T_T)

Play in this hobby long enough and I'm sure we've met fellow gamers with some personality quirks and social awkwardness. I try really hard to overlook those quirks and be inclusive. If someone told me they liked Pug You, I don't think I could overlook that, and I wouldn't want to sit at the table with them.

I can't BELIEVE it! I have been watching your game reviews and many others and this is the FIRST time I have heard anyone mention Talisman!

Seeing Jeremy in these top 10 has been by far my favorite episode in dice tower. you guys are hilarious together.

I have loved Eldritch Horror, less so now, but yes, the "Lose One Completed Objective" is awful. I do know who designed that card, but I will withhold that information for their protection. *stares at Zee*

BRUH the Wingspan pick, I love Wingspan but I enjoyed seeing it on his list. He's not afraid to dislike a game thats so loved, iI like it. I do wish he would have picked Tapestry over it, that games is completely useless in the board game scene and I feel brings nothing interesting that a video game or other board game doesn't bring. I LOVE Stonemeier games, but Tapestry just feels useless.

I don't play video games anymore, so Tapestry fits that spot for me and my game group. I feel like people just expected something other than what they got

Thuan Ngo never EVER believe that a Civ game can be done in under 2 hours. That pick you’re about to say “well, _____ did it in about an hour!” No. No. No. No game has ever done a good Civ game in under 2 hours. It’s not possible.

Why are you comparing wingspan to tapestry? Completely different games

I disagree with many of your picks but I am entertained by it and you make solid points. Love wingspan, love Arkham, love quacks.

Great episode, lots of fun and definitely brought lots of laughs. I can't say I agreed 100% with anyone's list, but it was an entertaining video for sure. Jeremy brought a nice energy to the team, even if he did hate on one of my favorite games (Wingspan). Keep up the great work guys!

That's hilarious

I appreciate seeing some anti-hype. Jeremy’s choices (and Zee to some extent) feel honest, well researched, and true to gaming style. Not a fan of the disrespect Jeremy gets with the Wingspan choice in the video - I’ve held off on buying it based on his point re: card draw issues. This video will spark lots of discussion based on Jeremy’s choices - and that’s the type of content I’m interested in. The counter point is much welcomed, always - and I’m a huge Arkham LCG fan. Should’ve made this Top 10 be based on the top 500 games on BGG or something, to keep the list choices more interesting (eyeing you Tom).

I'll say this. My intention was the not to go anti hype or whatever. I went in with a more comedic mindset, if you can't tell. When we get together this is all that happens. Laughter

jeremy howard what I don’t get is, have you actually read Cthulhu? I... I really don’t understand how anyone can read the books and like the books. Sure, the setting is good, but the dude was a huge racist and all of the books are dripping with it.

@@jendubay3782 lots of older lit is, but you don't have to dwell on just that aspect of it. especially when it's not always essential to the themes. i love lovecraftian horror but i hate how board games reduce it to some simple "ooga booga monster" nonsense, because that completely misses the point. lovecraftian horror is about insanity and dread, not in-your-face monsters.

I know this upload is old, but I really like Jeremy's commentary!

I align with a lot of Jeremy’s games and this episode was hilarious. Loved the interaction between all of you!

Am I the only one who agrees with most of Jeremy choices? Including Wingspan and Terraforming Mars, yes! :D

Hire this guy full time, he's amazing

As soon as I saw Quacks on this list my heart shattered. I haven't had as much fun playing a game as I have playing Quacks! Bust this game out if you feel tired and you and your buddies will be yelling and slamming chips down in no time!

It didn’t make the list but the hating on merchant of Venus did the same to me. Lol

I'd bring back Jeremy. My GF who usually hates watching board game stuff on youtube... Was glued to this! She laughed none stop!
