Gyzarus is one of the reasons I love the Gladiator Beasts to this day and while no longer competitive they are to this day my go to deck

Love Colossus. My favorite end board in Master Duel ends on Colossus/Dark Law pass. Sometimes if I get enough gas, I can get Titan in there too.

But yeah if you manage to draw mask change 2 one way or another you can get all three actually. Just activate mask change on chain to andecondas effect and you get two floodgates and interruption

@@DoubledeckManwhich Yep. I straight up built a pure Thunder Dragon list with 40 cards, and sprinkled 2 Mask Change 2 and Dark Law on top. It isn't the most consistent, but it's very fun when it goes off. I recommend. Lol

The Gladiator Beasts will always be my favourites. Tamer Editor deserves a mention - it's practically our ace monster!

Those monsters never had any meta relevence tho. Gyzarus is from a time where gladiator beasts were one of the top meta decks and that's why you usually see Gyzarus in those top lists instead of cards like Tamer Editor or Domitianus (even tho they are technically better). also glads rule!

Here’s my favorite part about colossus. Since it is a fusion monster, that means you summon it with a face down thunder monster. That means that you can dodge nibiru (since it doesn’t count set cards) and the point of cards like book of moon. My favorite way to use this effect is to get colossus even through zombie world. Thunder dragon monsters are still thunder monsters when they activate in hand, and zombie world only affects monsters face up. Which means you can still 100% fulfill colossus alternate summon. I also sometimes dodge maxx c in master duel since sometimes they don’t have it on so a set doesn’t trigger the response window and then I can summon colossus without feeding a draw.

Another thing that makes Thunder Dragon Colossus OP is that its protection effect is not an active effect so it can bypass certain negates too.

I feel Colossus should come to 1 in the TCG. It's at 1 in MD and isn't that oppressive

1:20 Gladiator beasts. Lots of good points however I do remember Elemental Heroes being pretty good at this time as they had a ton of cards that let them fuse and they also had plenty of extra deck monsters to use by this time

Little sad not to see this, but anytime dragon link pops up to by the best deck, I have 2 words; Alba-Lenatus.

Honestly Gladiator beasts can still occasionally do well in best of one formats like the master duel ladder. Sometimes it can catch some players off guard.

Gladiator beasts are about what YGO should be about: the battle phase.

How nostalgic the Glad Beasts, i had a deck with them. I must build another one. As for the others i have one Thunder Dragon deck, the only ones that i haven't played with are Vicious Astroud and Masked Hero. I have one Evil Hero deck. I'm playing with the spiders and ants deck right now. But today i'm going build a new one, i don't know wich one yet. Recently i had fun with Traptrix deck.

Very funny how you mentioned ariseheart as a machine to contact fuse off for chimeratech fortress, since under its macro cosmos effect you can't actually do the contact fusion (chimeratech stipulates sending to gy as part of the summoning condition)

Starving Venom can't cheat hard once per turns since it copies the name. Also Aloof Lupine came out after the Thunder Dragons. Synchros that can treat non-tuners as tuners next?

Do a viodeos of 1 -best cards with a discard trigger or cost. 2-best cards return a banished cards either to gy or hand or deck

I ran Supereme King Dragon Starving Venom in my Odd-Eyes pendulum deck - very useful card indeed. Suprised no one actually use it nowadays.

Because Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom and Heavymetalfoes Electrumite are banned in the TCG and Pendulum decks aren't popular to use in the current TCG meta. If they weren't banned, Pendulum could be a solid rogue option

i use starving venom in my MD deck and getting two metalfoes a turn + being able to use it the next turn is crazy

Also did you know that area level B works grate as an enabler for the digital bug arc type

Elder Entity N'tss' summoning condition is Konami's way of preventing it from being abused like Norden. - Requiring a synchro and xyz specifically and not any combo of the 2, was to answer Zoodiacs - Requiring a contact Fusion instead of normal fusion was to answer Zoodiacs playing fusion substitute to summon Nordon...... Zoodiacs nerfed N'tss

Fusion without a spell is the norm for my version.

For the other summoning mechanic there is 5 pendulum (7 if you include the 2 fusions 9 if you include the 2 xyz) 6 synchro (4 of them are ursarctic) 0 link 0 ritual There is also 1 pendulum, 2 synchro, 1 synchro pendulum and Z-arc who count as both pendulum and synchro in the anime

Surprised you didn't mention either of the vaylantz fusions. They can build some insane boards with pendulum evolution.

While I know this is an idea for a fusion card, they already made a retrain similar to this with Five-Headed Link Dragon. It’s very similar to what you’ve said, but the most notable difference is of course being a link monster.

"Dragon" isn't an archetype and might need a shit ton of clarification text because translation. In Japanese, would it be "Dorago" monsters or "Ryu" monsters (both mean dragon) ?

I still play ABC I recently made a 60 card ABC pile it's about as good as you think it would be

By the time you got to #2 on the list I was thinking that people didn't think Thunder Dragon Colossus compared to the others on this list and my poor banned boi will never see love. Oh boy was I wrong! I'm an old school player who dipped out right before Synchos made the scene. I only got back into it in the last few years because of the Legacy of the Duelist game being super cheap at a video game store I go to. I was struggling with the new to me cards and decks (which is a lot of them) and decided to change my focus from trying to power through with limited knowledge, and start with a fusion monster I remembered being the fastest at the time (Twin-headed Thunder Dragon) to try and learn more about the game. I was shocked to see it had become an archetype and even more so when I found myself suddenly beating almost every computer deck with relative ease. Even then, still going off of old school thinking of LP being precious, I didn't appreciate Colossus for his abilities because I still didn't understand the deck that well, and comparing Titan's attack to Colossus's, I thought Titan was the ultimate boss of the Thunder Dragons. That is untill I started watching these videos and realized how much I had underestimated Colossus, and started to understand much fundamentally changed in the game while I was away. After seeing so many of the other cards and archytypes that have come out, I realize not only has Colossus been power crept to the point that he could come off the banned portion of the list, he is also the lynchpin of the deck. Also of note, the two monster supports that have come out, Thunderstormech and Dragonlord are both Light monsters. Including Twin-headed, that creates an imbalance of light and dark with in the archetype. Matix, OriginalTD, Hawk, Titan, Twin-headed, TSM, and Lord, vs Dark, Duo, Colossus, and Roar. Even if we ignored Twin-headed, that's still a 3:2 ratio of light to dark. I can only hope they make another dark monster or two to even things out a bit. And that's my rant.

As far as I know, there's only three Synchro monsters that can be Synchro summoned without a Tuner, those being Chaos Angel, Ultimia, and that Visa Starfrost Synchro, so I don't think a list like this is even possible for Synchros.

In my teens (we are talking around 2015-16 lol) me and some friends were playing mostly rogue decks and fooling around in locals. One of my friends was playing a Gagaga deck with some mini egines splashed in. As the archetype as pretty versatile ( the deck could summon rank 4-8 xyz monsters easily) he was known to experiment withmany different cards. Dark Law+ Mask Change 2 being on the list made me shed a tear.

I added dark law to a predaplant deck just to deal with tear, then I played heroes, now I play fire and enjoy gunkan suships

I wonder if there is enough synchro monsters with alternate summoning conditions to make a top 10? Like Elightenment Paladin.

You cannot make Chimeratech Fortress Dragon with Kashtira Arise-Heart. This is because Kashtira Arise-Heart's effect banishes all cards that would be sent to the graveyard, and you must be able to send the materials for Chimeratech Fortress Dragon to the graveyard to Special Summon it. Under Kashtira Arise-Heart, you cannot even Special Summon Chimeratech Fortress Dragon or Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon at all using any monsters with their Summoning conditions.

The Tearlaments technically don’t have alternate summoning conditions, they just have monsters that fusion summon unconventionally. The Tearlaments fusions themselves don’t say anything about alternative summoning conditions

Gladiator beasts could've been so much better if they could use cards like polymerization because contact fusion is so bad
