One thing I always loved about Farscape (besides the epic story and great character work), was how it would take old (and tired) sci-fi staples, like "characters switching bodies" and make them feel fresh and new again. My favorite example was in "... Different Destinations", where the crew is transported back to an important historical event. They inevitably distort the timeline, but unlike other stories where this often gets resolved in a "clean" manner, their trying to fix it keeps making things worse and worse until the poignant end.

Green-Eyed Monster is my absolute favorite. Written by Ben Browder, it's the romantic confrontation between Aeryn and John we've always wanted, set to the tense backdrop of their fight to survive and escape a Budong. Add some Rygel/Stark comedy and a HAL 2000 moment, and it's almost perfect. And that speech about the star charts, and that kiss...romance can get no better.

My top 10 Farscape episodes 10) liars, guns, and money- An awesome heist story. Love the return of Stark, Love the return of previous villains now working with Moya crew, and love the plot twits and action. Seeing Dargo reuniting with his son was sweet. The coins Moya crew robed being hostile bugs was excellent plot twist and the action scenes were awesome. 9) revenging angel- Amazing and hilarious. Although the tone shift from Crichtons dreams to the events on Moya are a bit jarring. Love the animated roadrunner parody bits and love the Harvey scenes that mix animation with live action. The moments with Dargo and Jool in Moya were sweet. And the ending were Crichton and Dargo talked it out was excellent. 8) I shrink therefore I am- Love how the episode went from die hard to honey I shrunk the hostages. Seeing Crichton and Scropiouis working together to fight the Coreeshi was awesome and funny to watch. The Coreeshi were an awesome one time villain. It was odd that Noranti spend most of the episode outside doing nothing. 7) premiere- A great first episode to the show. The pacing was excellent, dose an excellent job at introducing Crichton and the other charters, and Crichton entering Moya for the first time was excellent. 6) into the lions den- Seeing Crichton working with Scropiouis wile secretly trying to savatoge him was excellent. Ayren and Crais interacting with there past live was interesting. Harvey was excellent and so was Moya crews on the Peacekeeper commander. And Crais and Tylans sacrifice was heartbreaking. "I'm standing and your heart, and I'm about to squeeze." 5) different destinations- This was interesting. Time traveling to an historical battle was excellent. Ayren discovering a hero she admire was a fraud was thought provoking. And the ending was just heartbreaking. 4) won’t get fooled again- A great mind fuck. Also love the introduction to Harvey. 3) DNA mad scientist- It's absolute perfection. Namtar as a villain was absolute perfection, Crichton and Ayren were absolute perfection, and the sub plot of Dargo and Zahn fighting Rygel for the crystal space chart was alright. 2) self inflicted wounds- The pathfinders were a interesting villain. It was an nice introduction to Jool and a excellent charter exit for Zahn. "There is no guilt, there is no blame, only what there is meant to be. Grow through your mistakes, and if patient redemption will find you." 1) we’re so screwed- Crichton recusing Ayren from the Scarrens was awesome. Crichton going into the Scarren empire meeting with the peacekeepers having an atomic bomb was excellent. "I want to sell out and settle down. For one day only it's a blue light special on aisle three. My wormhole technology, and three set of steak knifes, all the tea in China." Love Stark returning again. Really enjoyed final battle in part 3.

Kenneth Crist There were things I liked about that ep also but I have to admit Ben Browder's crotchety old man voice was wince-worthy to me. What is it that makes people want to put that accent/dialect on when portraying "old"? Really my only criticism though of an otherwise great ep for the possibilities it explored. So true about this show that even a "clunker" ep has enough going for it that it's always worth watching. . . .Trying to think of a clunker ep for example but coming up short.

Claudia Black gives a tour de force performance in TC while both she and Ben Browder pretty much dominate DWTB in the heartbreaking second half of that episode. JQ is just all round comic delight, with a touch of some real angst thrown in.

Other standouts that weren't mentioned in the video: "The Way We Weren't" (Pilot finding out Aeryn helped kill the previous Pilot), "Dog With Two Bones" (the episode dealing with the fallout of "Into the Lion's Den"), and "Unrealized Realities" (Einstein's debut). Nope don't agree, I found much of season 3 annoying - almost anything to do with the crew that stayed on Moya. It was literally a season with a split personality and the plotlines of the crew on Moya were mostly directionless. I felt it got it's act together towards the end of that season and then more so in season 4 (I especially loved the latter eps in season 4). And the best season of Buffy was season 5 - HILARIOUS! (altho Oz was truly great in Season 3 - and despite Captain Cardboard there were so many great eps in season 4)

Revenging Angel - Looney Tunes meets Farscape Different Destinations - Time Travel Farscape style. Everyone gets frelled. For me , this episode really set this series apart from anything else. Because in other scifi series, when time travel is involved, everything turns back to "normal." But this episode turned that notion on its head. John Quixote -This was a really fun offbeat episode. Seeing the characters in a completely different way. Plus the return of Zhaan. One last thing to mention about "Kansas" episode. It was previously mentioned in earlier episode that Crichton lost his virginity to a girl in the back of a truck. The realization of who it was - really unexpected. Chiana had him first.

unrealized reality is one of my favorites. leads right into kansas too. deals with all the consternation john has to get ground up in when dealing with wormholes, and there's a lot of goofy fun and humor as well.

I would have included on this list Out of Their Minds and The Way Things Weren't. Out of Their Minds is Farscape at its funniest, playing around with well-worn tropes like body switching but finding new ways to have fun with it. The highlight is putting almost the entire cast's acting chops on display as everyone but Virginia Hey have to impersonate another actor's performance of a different character, twice. The Way Things Weren't shifts gears and goes into the heartbreaking backstory of how Pilot became Moya's Pilot. It puts the strain on the growing relationship he had been developing with Aeryn since DNA Mad Scientist and it puts the spotlight on another one of Farscape's strengths: it's ability to draw empathy out of puppets.

I kind of end up with the farscape moments that keep re-appearing in the series which was what really made it a good series in general. It was a long story line and character .... uhh words failing. development. Like the alternate stuff that randomly shows up with the one droid he repainted that came from a different ship. Would randomly show up and work in. Which brings along some of the other things which develop the character where he's trying not to let go of his past to maintain some semblance of sanity, but the whole time embracing the peace keeper garb and badassery along the way.

    1. Crackers Don't Matter (memorable quotes, dark comedy, bio-paste, and photogasms) 2. I Shrink Therefore I Am (new villains, Scorpy to the rescue, if only John would just trust him) 3. Incubator (Scorpy as the antagonist/protagonist) 4. Eat Me (Controversial, evil, psychopathic, creepy, morgue, and eerie) 5. Out of Their Minds (quotes galore......Halosians/ Skeksis possible tie in to Dark Crystal .......works for me) 6.Till the Blood Runs Clear (The Road Warrior dystopian western trauma, complex production) 7. A Human Reaction (probably the best artistic shoot John & Aryn drinking beer he is overlooking the city passing storm) 8. Durka Returns (Chiana introduction, cute, thief, dangerous, and charming, what else can we ask for?) 9. PK Tech Girl (The haunted house and the Rygel backstory) 10. Premiere (where it all began)

S04E07 John Quixote is just a jolly good romp. Rygel. "None shall pass!" he proclaims. John talks to him, suggesting he is King Arthur of Camelot and Chiana is his vassal. "Bollocks!" Rygel says, adding that John's a pimped up fleshy who wants to go where none shall pass. "Let's kill him," Chiana suggest, but John says they can just go around him. "None shall pass!" Rygel repeats. When they attempt to go round, Rygel turns around and blows fire out of his behind!"

These are great choices but I would have included: the episode where they all go to earth and Aeryn is pining for Crighton who is trying to avoid her and then there’s the crazy fight in the Christmas house with the vicious alien. Also the two parter where Crighton saves Aeryn by pretending to be a peacekeeper and getting her the remedy from Gianna but he gets caught and then Aeryn saves a jailed Crighton from Crais and Scorpious.

This list is pretty spot on, although I might swap out one or two episodes for S3 E6 "Eat Me" in which Crichton is cloned and S3 e 14-15 "Infinite Possibilities" where in there quest to retrieve wormhole technology for The Ancients, the Crichton clone dies.

Great list for the most part (really glad to see Incubator in particular), but I have one major disagreement. Terra Firma should have been here, heck it's basically number 1 in my opinion. Seeing the characters actually return to modern-day Earth FOR REAL and interact with the humans in such a wonderful way was for me a truly amazing experience, having been built up to for years and positioned in such a way that I never thought they would actually do it, let alone make it so optimistic. The alien attack on the Crichton family home near the end of the episode had more weight and tension than any of the laser battles throughout the series. As for what to replace, as far as I see it, Self-Inflicted Wounds was not a good two-parter. The plotting was messy, the new characters unlikeable, the introduction of Jool was almost unbearable in places (despite her going on to become a great character later in the series) and honestly Zhaan's death just felt pointless. Plus, when I watched it, I just couldn't get over how nasty the characters were to each other in some scenes. I know childish bickering is a Farscape staple, but here it felt so out of place, especially in what was essentially Zhaan's swan song. I mean, she and Rygel have this lovely interaction where she says how much she's relied on his council (which wasn't really true, but whatever) and in the very next scene he's talking to her like shit again. I don't know, this episode just epitomised many of Farscape's writing flaws/inconsistencies for me. But to each their own. Great series overall.
