Top 10 Extinct Roller Coaster Models You Can't Ride Anymore

NOW WITH A NEW NUMBER ONE
Some of you may remember my video on Extinct Roller Coaster models. Well, I had originally taken it down after a copyright claim from a local news station. But before I could reupload it, my new portable hard drive crashed. I thought everything was gone, but recently I was going through my D Drive and I discovered that the video file wasn't on the hard drive after all. It was on my D Drive the whole time.

Me too, I lived really close, about a ten minute drive, so I would go all the time in the summer growing up. I saw it go through all of its phases leading up to and including the closure. It was the most unfortunate thing the way it went down. It was really such a great park, iconic to me, especially for being a local park and not a more “elite” park.

Same here, it was a great ride! Excellent airtime and fun layout. I only got to ride it on one visit despite going several years in a row. Towards the end of its life they would only run it when the arcade was busiest, on the weekends/during the summer. For those who don't know, it was installed at an arcade that also has a go kart track and a few flat rides. It doesn't seem like they had the attendance to justify the running cost of the coaster.

I rode the Carowinds water one! It was absolutely fun, and the theming was fantastic. This was circa 2006. Rode it twice and it was actually great ride-wise, unlike the reports people give. It wasn't dramatic but given the fact that you were battling people on the ground with water guns, it was amazing to a twelve year old. Since Carowinds operates a water park AND an amusement park, which IIRC sit one on each side of the NC/SC border, it was a fun way to combine the two sides, even though it definitively sat in the water park half of the park. It might have low re-ride value to adults, but the kids?? The kids LOVED it. And as a kid who didn't do so well with big drops... it was a fantastic option.

I have both Setpoint credits. There was the fun factor of dumping water on guests, but they could shoot back at you too with on the ground sprayers. There were two major problems I saw with the ride 1) It took a while for your tank to refill, leading to low capacity and 2) Once you dumped your tank, the fun was over if you hit someone or not.

I rode the Roller Soaker at Hersheypark probably a dozen or so times. It was really fun when it was newer but towards the end I found the water features on the car would often not work which really took the biggest fun factor out of the ride. There were always huge wait times for it too. I was sad to see it go though, it was something really cool and different

This is a different model though... In the video he sais that the old model inspired many new wild mouse coasters all around the world. For example, here in Germany, at the local fair that takes place once a year, we have a wild mouse too. It's crazy, feels like you're about to fly off the turn when it turns at the very last second. It's built slightly different than the one he shows in the video though.

Love coasters. My favorite was the Zabezi Zinger at World's of Fun in Kc mo which moved to Columbia after 25 years (Montaña Rusa) where as far as I know still runs. No seat belts and you straddled a narrow seat down the middle of the coaster snuggled up behind other people. It was pretty fast, went updside down and I miss it.
