It's a credit to the game and the designer how varied different people's lists and tiers are. Seven of my top ten didn't even appear here. Learning other people's favourites gives you alternative ideas for when your pet cards aren't showing up.

as a beginner with this game, this video helped me immensely! i know everyone is going to have their favorite cards, but it's so cool to hear the reasons why others enjoy playing different cards based on various strategies.

The judge/courthouse is definitely a good combo and can be pretty powerful!

1 Ranger 2 dungeon - let’s you throw away bards and postal pigeons (worth 0 VP) after you’ve used their effect. 3 shopkeeper - berries for every critter is huge. 4 historian - my best games are when I never need to worry about having cards 5 crane 6 innkeeper 7 university 8 ruins 9 monastery (in summer) - combo with the bard 👌🏻. Discard 4 cards plus Evertree with Bard, then go to monastery and build it for free from the discard pile. That’s one worker for 9 resources (and 5+ VP), plus a free critter from your Evertree… 10 The fool Honorable mention: Rugwort Awesome video guys! Surprised the farm wasn’t Nicole’s no. 1 😂

Great list. I love the sneaky play of dumping cards only to go play a big one when using the cemetery.

Great video. Cemetery/undertaker shenanigans are my favorite. Manipulate that ever tree or other big purple to the discard then blam!! Resin refinery/chip sweep in the 1st season is incredible too. Fantastic game!!!

My favourite combo is the Chapel + Shepherd. It's rare to make them score big points, because you ideally play and activate the Chapel very early, and often. And then play the Shepherd as late as possible, ideally twice! It should be possible to activate the Chapel multiple times per season to score big points and draw cards, which is very useful. And the Shepherd just tops it off with a bunch of berries and potentially a lot of points. I love it when that plan comes together. 😉 I have no experience with expansions, yet (Complete Collection is on its way!), so IDK how well the Chapel and Shepherd are with some of the expansions.

Honestly the Chapel and Shepherd are cards I very rarely play. Especially the Chapel. But in games where one of the special events is the Pristine Chapel Ceiling I tend to attempt to build it. Ive played a game where my winter season was -> build crane -> build Chapel -> visit Chapel. I then went to the chapel 3 times and used a ranger to move a worker off the chapel, only to put one back on there so I think I used it 4 times and then played the Shepherd and then took in the special event. I believe that combo got me around 16VP, 4 cards and 4 resources (plus the base points of the cards)...it was a satisfying turn of events:) I would also say playing with either Pearlbrook or Spirecrest would feel the same as base game in regards to that combo!

After playing a blitz of games against computers on steam I realised I was underevaluating the school. It can be a ton of points 10+ in most games since often you are trying to get combos of husbands and wife anyway + wanderer. Teacher is pretty decent also in that combo. It's a bit strange to me you are evaluating the dungeon and rangers so high, I'll rethink about it. They are certainly playable but didn't feel that high. But with spots that are limited to 1 per player in NewLeaf (both to get visitors and to discard and draw 3 cards) the ranger actually get even better with this expantion.

I haven’t played Newleaf yet. Patiently waiting for my copy. Beyond excited. When I think of the Ranger/Dungeon I look at it this way: I often try to build a bard or another critter that gains me VP and then put them in the dungeon (maybe to play another bard if I’m lucky). After I’ve used the dungeon to the full potential if I have a university I then discard the dungeon and free up a spot. Things like that is what I love. I’m not saying that combo is the most powerful. Of course in a game of Everdell without player powers you get to put 15 workers out in total. Getting the ranger virtually gives you another worker. Which if you can move a deployed worker to gain an event/send to the journey they can be extremely beneficial. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for commenting and checking out the channel!

    10. Clock tower: Great value, Chain to Historian, Great to destroy (ruins/university) in autumn. 9. Palace: Arguably the best "high cost" purple out there, counting itself 8. Courthouse: Insane if you succeed to build it up early on (super strong synergy with ruins, cranes, university or dungeon) 7. Theatre: Best 3 base points card in the game (therefore playable with postal pigeon or queen), does not cost that much and brings a lot of points, only drawback is the bard not being a top tier card. 6. University: Strong effect, super strong synergies with many cards, high base value, free doctor (4 base points) is the cherry on the top. 5. School: Way too cheap for the potential of this card, all critters sharing space or not taking spaces are commons, making the school super strong with couples or wanderers. 4. Innkeeper: Basically 1 or 2 completly free berries! Good synergy with shopkeeper (or historian). 3. Crane: Basically transform 1 pebble into 3 any! Potentially 2 completly free pebbles for no space taken. Chain to the high cost architect. 2. Historian: Infinite cards in a game relying so much on draws is just insanely strong. 1. Shopkeeper: So many berries open the door to the highest score possible, combined with monk and a bunch of chip-sweep or miner moles and you'll stockpile points like never before.

+1, just scored an 81 on the base game with the top 7 of this list, the shopkeeper + monk/doctor is absolutely insane.

@@Utopy34 Nice! Well played! You won't believe it but I just invited people to come over and play today and I also made one of my opponent drown in berries^^ (Well "only" gave her 8 berries^^) That feels so great because you get a lot of points without being a meanie :) I used to hate the monk and his weak 0 base point, but the more I play it the more I like it^^ (Still it's weak in a 2p game or if you don't find a way to make berries)
