I would not regard no. 7 (having worked in adult films) as shocking as long as those involved were not pressured into it. I don't think any less of them. That's the only exception.

Imo if your child really wants to act & u have time to take them to auditions (or arrange for someone else to that) I think u it’s worth a try. However, if they can’t take the constant rejection & having to give up free time to go on auditions , then let them wait until they’re older. Finally, most child performers don’t become superstars; my brother was a child actor & print model( meaning ads for local dept stores) He worked, but not at all frequently before “aging out “ as a teenager since they’d rather hire someone who’s 18 since they can work longer hours..

About the casting couch: Actors are called actors because they act and as the old axiom goes: There are always three sides to a story and one of them is the truth. Granted, there have been lecherous producers and directors, but there have also been "driven to succeed" actors and actresses who would do or say anything to get a bigger role or to enlarge the role that they are in. Proof of that is the music industry where rock stars sing about groupies, quoting Bob Seger from Turn the Page "Where you think about the woman, or the girl you knew the night before." It's not just the movie or music industry, a girl in college hit my parked car. The accident was clearly and obviously her fault, but two days later my insurance company called, telling me that university police reported the accident as my fault. When I went to the university PD building to complain, in the parking lot out in front of the building I saw the cop that took the report making out with the girl that owned the car that hit mine. The world is full of horrible human beings.

Maybe that's why we see a lot of actors/actresses only let their children enter Hollywood when they're of ault age because they know how gruesome the life of teenage and child actors there.

I once read an interactive story named Red Carpet Diaries 2, and it dealt with the subject of #1. MC was on her way to stardom following her first big film role, but during production of her second big film a film executive saw an opportunity to "make her his as if she was nothing more than property in his eyes". And when she doesn't "submit herself" to him, he makes life difficult for her by blocking her from her home and other acts. And as it turned out, he supposedly did things like this to other rising female actors before the MC when they didn't "submit themselves" to him. Moral of the story is, people are not property or objects. One person does not "own" another person like property despite the difference in rank or social class. But sadly, there are still people like that exec who exist in the world today, and continue to prey on rising stars from almost every career path, whether it be acting, singing, writing, sports, you name it. And the only way Hollywood is going to change is if the culture goes through a major overhaul (start by weeding out all the people who objectify others and blacklist those people until they are willing to change their ways).

My dad told me a story where he brought me into a Hollywood casting call and they loved me and offered me a part at age 5. He decided to put his foot down and said that he didn't want to ruin my childhood and potentially life to have his kid on a B tv show.. I was kind of glad when he told me this story independently of my mother telling me an identical retelling.. It makes me believe it and thank my dad for his foresight.. Name a Hollywood child star story that ended well.. There are a few but it's inconsequential compared to the ones that were debauched, spoiled, molested, broken, brainwashed and later lambasted and begrudge after they lost their seat at the table usually due to the latter reasons .. There were a few that beat the odds and became household names as adults and maintained popularity throughout the majority of their careers but it is such a small percentage of child stars that made the transition and didn't crash and burn that you would have to be self invested and insane to want that life and the accompanying maladies for your children.. Adults at least will be a bit more impervious to the the things in live that deceive the eye with their glamour and sparkle Instead my dad who was an engineer at Lockheed Martin at the time groomed me to be an engineer and the rest was history.

What if the child wants to be a future actor? If the kid has an aspiring dream to be a star actor, then the parent should let them wait until they're old enough to make it on their own, even after telling them the truth.

Whenever i have brought up animal abuse in movies, just in conversation, someone inevitably mentions how it doesn’t happen in American movies and then will try to redirect how other countries are worse. I saw a report years ago about how a certain child stat was pushed into posing in a playboy photo shoot called “sugar and spice”, by her own mother, when she was just 12. They were so called artistic photos where important areas were covered but her clothing was still missing.
