Michigan's famous fight song, The Victors, was written in November of 1898. Louis Elbel, a music student at the University, wrote the words and the music in celebration of a last minute 12-11 Michigan victory over rival Chicago, giving U-M its first Western Conference football championship. The Victors was first played in public by John Philip Sousa's band in May of 1899 in Ann Arbor. Sousa later called it the "best college march ever written." The Victors (L. USC’s is the best imo. Notre Dame’s fight song has always been one of my favorites too. Nice to see Arkansas’s fight song on here because I’ve always thought it was catchy.

I love these lists because most are always titled "top college fight songs" instead of "my favorite fight songs" Being an SC fan of course I think ours is #1 but there are so many great ones. I love hearing them all. It's what makes college sports so awesome. Fight On for ol' SC!

Go BLUE! Michigan’s fight song is arguably the most iconic. I’m not saying it’s the best even though I think so because, well, I’m a Michigan fan, but it is the most iconic without a doubt

This is a highly subjective task in the first place to be sure. Although your list is stellar and has some of the greats, I have to say that after recently hearing Iowa State's fight song I am a recent convert to that being in my personal top 10

You definitely got the Top 3 right. Adding UCLA would have made it the perfect Top 4 (Notre Dame, UCLA, USC, Michigan), but at least you mentioned UCLA as an honorable mention.

Alabama's fight song sounds like a damn circus music who put that on this list is crazy

Having bought a Professionally Done LP in the early 1960's while in grade school, which has the Top 30 College Fight Songs (Music and Words) I know them ll. Always considered Both of these in the Top 10. LOL. Denying your intelligence? Gladly! :) Here's a hint: My school leads yours in the all-time series. My school has more than double the number of national championships that Michigan has in the AP era. I've always liked Michigan. I've mostly just felt sorry for them. All those nice seasons with no MNCs under Bo, with the best of those seasons usually ending in a loss when they came out west. So sad. :(

Good list but USC is definitely number 1 and they literally have two well known themes within one, the better part of the USC theme starts around 40 seconds into the piece whereas you posted the lessor IMHO!

Michigan has a really nice and classic fight song my number 1 for sure 👍 ps and they have the beat unis aswell

My high school band plays a version of Notre Dame's fight song. We just all play that melody line except low brass. Just the straight notes. No trills .

Notre Dame's fight song is a classic, but "The Victors" is overall a better song and one could say it is a musical masterpiece. John Phillip Sousa himself praised and even conducted it. Good video though

The Notre Dame fight song is by far the most famous and the best. I grew up all over the United States. I heard of that high schools and middle schools I went to. I saw it on TV. Like happy days and other television shows. I never heard none of the other ones anywhere except for at their games. The USC fight song is really good. An old rocky tops pretty good too. But the Notre Dame one is the best. In the Michigan wanting nothing

Other than Michigan and Notre Dame they all sound like Saturday morning cartoon themes or drag show pomposities. However, Notre Dame has only one musical motif in there....Michigan's has 3 movements that all build splendidly and even employs key change. the song was performed during a concert by United States Marine Band leader and "March King" John Philip Sousa. Sousa held the song in high regard: "No one but a master of counterpoint could have conceived the splendid harmony that marks the composition throughout," the bandleader said.
