YES!! VINTAGE IRON!!! I agree it’s nice to see the old combines out making passes!! My Fav was the UNI picker. Why when I was young and we started out a farm it was our second picker!!! The first was a pull behind Case 2 row. That Case I had to walk behind and pick up the ears that didn’t make it into the wagon!!! I hated that piece of junk!!! With the UNI I road on it and it was a dream!!! Of corse I didn’t get to use it much because dad bought a JD 200 attached two row picker Sheller for the A and that was my baby!!! It was fine as long as I didn’t have to walk in the snow anymore!!!

The John Deere 44XX and 66XX remind me of my childhood. We had a 6600 for years and I see an old one that doesn't run anymore occasionally when I go to a certain town. We are a John Deere family but our last 2 combines have been from Case IH. I enjoy seeing all of them.

Great video! I really enjoyed seeing the New Idea uni system. We had one on our farm as a kid, and I still remember my dad switching the implements on it. As soon as I heard the exhaust note, I immediately remembered to forge harvesting with it. I haven’t heard that sound in 24 years, I didn’t expect to ever hear it again. Thank you so much. I would love to see more Heston or Ford content since you asked. Thanks!

The 4420 is probably my favorite of this lineup. I have a 4400 that I've used for years to harvest everything from wheat to safflower to corn. Great combine just has 4000 hrs on it and is time to retire it. Come to Colorado in September and I'll show you my Grandfather's 1960 John Deere 55 harvesting windrowed pinto beans. He bought it new. Also have an N6 gleaner with a 30ft head I'm looking forward to using in wheat harvest come July. I also have an allis chalmers 60 and a john deere 11a. I love old combines.

In my opinion, you omitted the best combine ever made for medium size farms and that's the John Deere 7720. I put 4,000 hours on one harvesting milo and wheat. It was always a joy to operate. I installed a Dickey John grain loss monitor on it and that allowed me to push it. I could cut 5500 pound per acre milo (if it was 14% moisture), at 4 mph with a 20 foot header. On long rows, a Big 12 grain cart operator could hardly keep up with me when conditions were right. Thanks for the great video and the memories it generated.

Thanks for the video! I bought a 79 4400 for my hobby farm. It has the 4420 style rotary screen. The back end has the big Deere emblem like the 4420 instead of the John Deere word decal. The last owner put a hydraulic auger off of a 4420. I think the black cab and the 4420 decals make the machine look so sharp! I’ve thought about doing that to mine!

I doubt you would ever find them any more but I would love to see some old Masseys. First combine I ever operated as a kid was a Massey Harris 90 special w/o a cab. Later added a Massey Ferguson 410 and kept the 90 special. Next moved up to a Massey 750 then an 850 and then into John Deeres. The 90 special and the 410 were both gasoline combines. It was quite a change with the diesel MF750 as it seemed like a big leap in power. Way back I remember going to the bulk fuel dealer with my dad and getting 55 gallon drums in the back of the truck filled for harvest fuel. I don't remember how long a 55 gallon drum lasted but it was at least a day if not longer. Thanks for the memory rush BTP - I could even smell the grain dust coming out the back of the combines. I love the smell of harvest.

We ran 3 915 IH combines for years. 8 row corn heads, 24’ platforms heads. 67” Flowgrip tires. Rough on the road! Replaced them with 1480’s. Then 1680’s. Then 2188-2388’s. I always liked the look of the 915’s. Dad said we never really had much problems with them, but the 1480’s definitely ran faster with the 8 row heads.

I like the way it looks and it was a neat experience to drive it. I do not base my ranking on operating them daily. For me it about the experience of filming them and how rare they are. If I operated them all I would probably have a much different ranking?

One of my favorite video. You do know you're machinery, 6620,hard find, 7720 not so much. 850 Massey hard fine, 860 not so much. Late model l3 with duetz green striping, harder find. Nice work!

Love your videos BTW, they are all ten outta ten. The best on You Tube by a long long way. Someday you must hop on a jumbo and come and check out some of our Aussie brands of machinery. We have models made for our conditions like the Massey 542 and 3342 headers from the early 70s. We also had the 750s and 850s. We had two 3342s and also two 542s. Before them we were using Aussie made pto drive. iHC harvesters pulled by AW6s and AW7 Inter tractors or Chamberlain tractors also made locally. I now use a 1644 Case IH and its better than all of the others if they were rolled into one. They give a beautiful clean sample, and they can swallow a lot of acres in a day. We are still old school and use combine seeders rather than air seeders. Two 28 run seeders pulled together with a twin pull can plant a lot of acres in a day as well and they are very accurate. You would love some of our Aussie built tractors too. Chamberlain, and Upton-350 hp two wheel drive.
