Alfonso Ribeiro has been a professional dancer since he was a young child. He shouldn't be in this list at all. Even his Pepsi commercial at the age of 13 had him dancing next to Michael Jackson! Always a fan of his, but he doesn't fit the description of "Surprisingly Good Dancer". He's always been a good dancer! :-D

He is very very good, but I wonder if he hasn't actually been trained as a dancer? At least a little, maybe as part of his musical theatre background. And maybe learned some hip hop or breakdance, from the way he moves. He looks too good to be simply an amateur. Hiddleston or Rudd look like guys who have never really been taught how to dance but are just good at it and enjoy dancing. JGL looks like he knows what he's doing.

In this show he held his own with Tony winner Hinton Battle, and as an indicator of how good he was, when he left the show, he was replaced by Savion Glover! To anyone with any historical perspective (which, as I've pointed out frequently, you do not have) his dancing expertise is no surprise.

Most actors (in the UK and Australia, not sure about the US) take dance as part of their studies or found that they loved performing via dance. It not only makes them more versatile and so more likely to be employed in the early parts of their careers, it also helps with body language and awareness which is a big part of being a convincing actor. It's like how most actors have taken voice and/or singing as well, even if they don't have stellar singing voices it's important to be able to hold at least a semblence of a tune and to project and have good breath control.

How could you not mention Alfonso's playing young Michael Jackson and dancing as him?

Sam Rockwell should of been #1. That man can dance. In Iron Man 2 they explained that he does dancing as a warm up to his scenes to get ready. The scene where he dances at the expo was him warming up and he didn't know they were rolling. They just kept it in because they loved it so much.

Crazy how they just give Vic an honorable mention, he was AMAZING in the Ocean series, he's as good as Fred Astaire.

But it is surprising the first time you see them do something that you don't expect, especially when they do it so well. Recent example is Patrick Wilson singing a duet beautifully with Barbra Streisand - although I must admit I had no idea he was a Broadway veteran.

I remember watching the chatty man interview with Tom hiddleston when I had no idea he could dance, he started it off like a dad trying to dance at a family party after a few beers but then went full swing! 😍😍

Missed a few stars, Kevin Bacon, John Travolta, Channing Tatum to name a few.

Patrick Swayze were a dancer long before he were an actor so not really surprising that he could dance

Lavender Hugh Jackman performs on Broadway so of course he cab dance, and Channing Tatum's first movie was literally a movie about dancing. If you didn't know he could dance then what are you doing with your life.

The category is Surprisingly good Dancers. Channing Tatum and Patrick Swayze is not surprising. You know who shouuld be there. Terry Cruz. YOu know Damon from Friday After Next and the Old Spice Commercials, and the Series Are we there yet. Dude got moves.

Alfonso Ribeiro was the The Tap Dance Kid and the young boy doing Michael Jackson's moves in a 80s Pepsi commercial. The first time I saw him dance was on the Tony's as the young member of the Tap Dance Kid cast. I am baffled at everyone's surprise at his skills, but then again maybe not all fans knew this.
