It is an advertisement video for sure. But with that said, some of those brands I have tried. Some I have not. But here is a list of what I look for in a work boot (not in any particular order). 1. I want an eight inch boot. Six inch boots tend to end right at the ankle joint on me. This gives you some protection at the joint but not a lot. A eight inch boot covers the entire ankle and makes it almost impossible to twist it. 2. Toe protection. Regardless of whether it is composite or steel toe. If you have ever had a steel toe type boot protect your toes in an accident, every boot you buy afterwards is going to have that level of added protection. 3. I want a finish I can polish. Call me old fashion if you will, but I'm going to polish a boot to give it that little extra level of water protection. And polishing also helps maintain and soften the leather. 4. Weight is a factor. I had a pair of Wolverine boot that I probably owned for 15 years (give or take). They did their job and they did it well. But their only problem? They were heavy. This is not the boot I would want to wear on a full day hike. This is not the boot I'd want to wear even just walking around the job all day. I've never weighted those boots but they probably came in at double the weight (if not triple) of other boots I own. 5. Comfort. it has got to be comfortable. Honorable mention is price. It might be the best boot on the planet, but unless it is the last boot I will ever buy I'm probably not going to spend $300 USD for it.

Look decent. However I've seen lots of reviews, not only here but across the 'net, about the soles splitting. Sounds like a defect to me that should be covered by warranty but I'd rather not deal with the hassle (especially when they're $300+). So many ugly boots out there. Whatever happened to plain black (8") quality boots! I really don't care who makes them as long as the quality is there (for me waterproofing is important) and that they dont have the brand name and tech' features plastered all over them in an assortment of colors like a damn walking billboard (timberland pro boondock for ex.). Get rid of all that crap. Let the quality of the boot speak for itself. Word of mouth goes a long way. If someone's happy with their boots they'll say as much (when their fellow employee is bitching about how crappy his/her own boots are).

I rubbed the leather off the steel toes in 6 months. Bought a pair of sentinel HD. They have a super heavy sewn on toe cap and they have been amazing. Im always looking for the best boot available. Ill never buy another paid of timberland pros. Cats were decent, redwings were good, but these australian redbacks are the top of my list for now. Very light weight, broke in on the first day wearing and durable. "Not insulated if you work in a colder climate."

My Irish setters just gave out at about 2 years (no longer waterproof) but I didn't maintain the leather very well so, I'll probably get another pair, my dad had the exact same ones and they lost their waterproofing within a year, so who knows.

Keen boots are comfortable as heck, but won’t last a year. I’ve demolished 5 pairs in 4 years. They are basically disposable. But the comfort and fit keeps me coming back. The toes and soles separate. They also don’t even approach waterproof, even brand new

Dude I drive a mixer up here in Detroit area ..I wear the Red Wing supersole 2.0 with all the bells and whistles and I learned real quick you have to buy hard leather boots .. Cause the Suede will die on ya ..they are great in the winter for warmth and breaths in the summer and it’s 100% waterproof which is must for a mixer drive obviously..the only thing is you have to keep up the care on them.. Cleaning ,, creaming,, whatever you have to.. cause that cement will eat up that leather and dry them out like now which I’m sure you know ..I’ve gone through many boots myself ..I’m still searching for the boot that doesn’t require so much care but I haven’t found it yet..But if you keep up with the top shelf supersole they will hold on
