Top 10 Best Therapy Dogs ( Best Emotional Support Dog Breeds )

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Of all the breeds of dogs out there, which of them make the best therapy dog?
We’re going to talk about what a therapy dog is, and reveal which best dog breeds have made their way to my list of the top 10 best therapy dogs out there.
A steady, tolerant, and friendly temperament is the most important feature of a therapy dog- and for a good reason.
A Therapy dog ( like the golden retriever ) needs to be trusted to behave itself and get along with anyone it meets in schools, nursing homes, hospitals, shelters, or even events.
As we’ll see in this video, some highly trainable working breeds can become a therapy dog, assuming that the personality and people skills have been trained into the dog.
But therapy dog breeds only have certain natural skills that exceed the rest- the ability to put a smile on someone’s face and ease some stress, through a contagiously positive personality.
Which are the best emotional support dog breeds for you?
Please leave a comment below.
Here’s the video of the top 10 best therapy dogs..

I have nerve pain from cervical surgery, I had a Pyrenees that always new when I was having a bad day , who gently crawled up on the couch and would lay his head on my lap he stayed there quietly and putting him , Soothed my pain . Also I had a corgi/terrier that also stayed with me day and night in my chair after surgery, no one could make him leave . I always felt so loved by them , and now that they are gone , I m so aware of my pain , I can’t hardly walk , yoga helps , but I can’t replace what I’ve lost

I'm truly sorry for the pain you're experiencing and for the loss of your beloved pets. 🐾❤️ It's clear that they provided you with incredible comfort and companionship during difficult times, knowing just when you needed their presence the most. The bond between humans and animals is so special, and the love and support they give us can be incredibly healing. While they may no longer be physically with you, their memories and the love they shared will always remain in your heart. It's okay to grieve their loss and to feel the weight of your pain. Remember to be kind to yourself and to cherish the moments you shared together. You may not be able to replace them, but their love has left an indelible mark on your life. Wishing you moments of peace and comfort as you navigate this difficult journey. 🌈🐾

I had a miniature greyhound and she was extremely intelligent my son had a poodle and that dog literally never left his side even would get up in the middle of the night if he had to use the restroom see he before surgery had almost no eye sight was almost completely blind and this dog made sure he was safe at all times i highly suggest a poodle I don’t know much about these other dog breeds but I do know that the poodle is in my opinion the absolute best therapy dog even for young children

It's wonderful to hear about the positive experiences you've had with your miniature greyhound and your son's poodle. Dogs have an incredible capacity to provide companionship, loyalty, and support to their human companions, and it sounds like both of these dogs were exceptional in their roles. Poodles are known for their intelligence, trainability, and affectionate nature. They are often regarded as excellent therapy dogs due to their calm and gentle temperament. Poodles can be intuitive and perceptive, making them well-suited for providing emotional support and comfort to individuals of all ages. Additionally, poodles are often considered a hypoallergenic breed, as they have hair instead of fur, which may be beneficial for individuals with allergies. When selecting a dog breed, it's important to consider individual needs, lifestyles, and preferences. Each breed has its own unique characteristics, and what works well for one person or family may not be the best fit for another. If someone is interested in a therapy dog or a dog that can provide emotional support, it can be beneficial to research various breeds, talk to reputable breeders or adoption organizations, and even spend time with dogs of different breeds to see which one resonates the most. Ultimately, finding the right dog for therapy or emotional support depends on a combination of factors, including the dog's temperament, training, and the specific needs of the individual or family seeking support. Thank you for sharing your positive experiences with the miniature greyhound and poodle, highlighting the special qualities they brought to your lives.

Perfect PTSD dog was German Shepherd x Rhodesian Ridgeback. Also Irish Wolfhound x Lab. Sadly both gone now, the last very recently.

I'm sorry to hear that you've lost your beloved dogs. Yeah, German Shepherds and Rhodesian Ridgebacks are both known for being loyal and protective breeds, which can make them great companions for those with PTSD. Irish Wolfhounds are also known for their gentle and calm nature and Labrador Retriever are known for their trainability, friendliness and loyalty, so an Irish Wolfhound x Lab would be a great companion as well. It's clear that you loved your dogs and they brought you a lot of joy and comfort.

I have PTSD, anxiety and a physical disability, but I walk. I was looking at getting a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, but I'm open to any suggestions on a smaller dog (I live in a small apartment) that might work well for me. I can't really go on long walks, but an emotional support dog that mostly likes to hang out indoors and go for short walks or trips to various places with me would be ideal. Thank you.

It's great to hear that you're considering getting an emotional support dog to help you manage your PTSD and anxiety. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are a lovely breed, but there are many other smaller breeds that may also be a good fit for your lifestyle and needs. Here are a few smaller breeds that may be suitable as emotional support dogs and that tend to do well in small apartments: Bichon Frise: These dogs are affectionate, friendly, and don't require a lot of exercise. They are also hypoallergenic, which can be helpful if you have allergies. Chihuahua: These dogs are very small and are known for their loyalty and affection towards their owners. They don't require a lot of exercise, but can be quite active and playful. Pomeranian: These dogs are known for their fluffy coats and friendly personalities. They are small and don't require a lot of exercise, but they do need regular grooming to maintain their coat. Shih Tzu: These dogs are known for their gentle and friendly personalities, and they make great lap dogs. They don't require a lot of exercise, but they do require regular grooming to keep their long coat in good condition. These are just a few examples of smaller breeds that may be suitable as emotional support dogs. It's important to research different breeds and speak with a veterinarian or a breeder to determine which breed would be the best fit for you and your lifestyle.

I got bitten on the lip by a miniature schnauzer. I still have the scar. Had to go and get stitches in my lip in hospital there was blood everywhere. I was actually really upset at the time when it bit me. It bit me because I was sitting in the front of the car and turned around to talk to it in the back seat and it bit me. So no, I don't know if I'd want one as a therapy dog.
