The funny thing about that anthem is that they sing about "Germany united fatherland". It doesn't make sense to me, why are that lines in the anthem of the GDR? Did they consider the GDR as whole Germany or did they claim the FRG also as part of their territory? I know that in the constitution of the FRG there where an article said that they want the reunification, but did the GDR have that will as well?

Our (USA) national anthem is actually very good when sung in a traditional style. It’s just we always have a bunch of over stylish pop singers singing it, which sometimes makes it seem like another song might be a better anthem, but really the Star Spangled Banner is a great song. I won’t say it’s the #1 most inspiring anthem, but it’s a good one.

Agree. I'm German, but the USA anthem is easily very good, but the craziest bunch of people who just wants attention comes out to sing it, and it sounds different every time. Unless you're a native American, you don't even understand what they're singing, cause they sing the lyrics in their own style and make it basically their own song in the end, which is very, very disappointing. Most of the times it doesn't even sound good. I'll never forget Fergie during the 2018 NBA all Star game in LA.

Alle anderen waren mit einem Migrationshintergrund. Ich war die einzige mit türkischen Wurzeln in meiner Klasse. Wir hatten Musikunterricht und unsere Musiklehrerin Frau Eberlein legte eine CD in das Tonbandgerät und bat uns, zu erraten, zu welchen Ländern die Nationalhymnen gehörten, die wir hören werden. Nachdem die ersten Nationalhymnen angehört und erraten wurden, begann plötzlich die türkische Nationalhymne an zu spielen. Als ich die ersten Töne der Nationalhymne hörte, bekam ich Gänsehaut und meine Augen füllten sich mit Tränen. Während die die türkische Nationalhymne weiter auf dem Band lief, machten meine Klassenkameraden Vermutungen, aber niemand kam auf die Idee, dass eine so schöne Nationalhymne zur Türkei gehören könnte. Unsere Lehrerin Frau Eberlein bemerkte, dass ich emotional wurde. Sie schaute mir in die Augen und wartete darauf, dass ich meine Hand hob und sagte, dass die Hymne „Türkische Nationalhymne“ sei. Aber ich konnte nicht sprechen, weil ich vor lauter Emotionen einen Kloß im Hals hatte. Türkische Hymne war zu Ende und Frau Eberlein fragte mich vor der ganzen Klasse: „Pınar, zu welchem ​​Land gehört diese Hymne?“ Ich sagte mit ganzem Stolz: „Es gehört der TÜRKEI!“ Die Klasse war sehr überrascht, alle sahen mich erstaunt an. So I think I can surely say Italy stole Clay from a Nation without really Fighting, instead hiding behind the Alps and fighting with American weapons. I find it funny that one of the most patriotically-American songs, My Country Tis of Thee, has the same melody as the UK's national anthem.

@@Italarch No. It came from The Holy Roman Empire which is the true First Reich. It was used as a hymn to The Kaiser Franz II. Then used by The Austrian Empire and Austria Hungary as a hymn to Kaiser Franz Ferdinand (Ferdinand was archduke of Austria Hungary)

It was a personal anthem to Franz II of the Holy Roman Empire, later Franz I of the Austrian Empire. It was used only by them until after the first world war, whereupon Austria started using a new anthem, and Germany used the »Deutschlandlied«, which was the aforementioned personal anthem, rewritten in the 1840s.
