This is a joke!! Laffit Pincay not in top 3? Bill Shoemaker was considered by many experts and his peers to be the best of all time, he rode against some of the best jockeys to ever ride a horse. The jockeys of the 60’s and 70’s were as good as there will ever be. In all fairness one could make a list of the top 20 riders of all time, the list would speak for itself as to who was the best of the best.

Lester Piggott was and still is the greatest. Even his peers admit it.

Who ever made this list couldnt pick a top jockey the shoe pincay l johnny L arcaro russel baze angel Cordero Eddie d kent d chris mcarron and hartack there are lots of great jocks but these 10 are all at the peak of excellent but the shoe was hands down the best in the last 60 years

When you talk about great jockeys the number one will always be the Long Fellow,Lester Piggott.Favourite horse he rode,Nijinsky at his best.Most satisfying moment of Lester,for me,riding Royal Academy to victory in The Breeders Cup,in 1990,at the age of 54 and knowing that Royal Academy was a grandson of NIjinsky.That finish Lesters circle,for me.

Eddie J. Delahoussaye won two consecutive Kentucky Derby's in 1982 and in 1983. He was the best jockey ever at rating his Horse in a race in my opinion. He was so smooth, and a professional at getting the most out of his Horse. He had great hands at handling his horse and guiding them in heated competition. He had tremendous vision and patience while riding important high stakes races too. He knew exactly when to make his moves with his mounts. He was magic in the saddle. A rider of tremendous experience and talent and just a unique rider with class and a friendly personality. He was a great competitor and skilled athletic rider like no other. The best of the best! Eddie also won two Belmont Stakes in his career and two Preakness Stakes in his career.

@@elaineacosta262. Hello, Elaine. Eddie D. was born in New Iberia, Louisiana in 1951. He rode alot at Fairgrounds Racetrack in New Orleans. His nephew was a star football kicker on the LSU Football team and his other relatives own and train Thoroughbred horses in Louisiana still today. He is a very friendly and personable guy. He still is a leading member of the Thoroughbred Riders/ Jockeys Guild. Also, he is a former past President of that Organization. Very professional and intelligent rider and Equestrian. Definitely is very hard to make a list of 10 jockeys in a sport that has the years of horse racing, in any sport I never talk about the greatness of athletes that I haven’t seen, I am 67 years old and a fan of this sport for 60 years, for me Bill Shoemaker is at the top for the American jockeys and Lester Pigott for the Europeans, and also for me is very hard to make a list without Baeza, Cordero, Pincay ,Stevens and Day for the Americans and St martin , Cauthen and Moore for Europe, without commenting that I think that to compare an American jockey with an European is like a comparing a pear with an apple, the way of riding and planning races is completely different

Uno de los mas grandes jinetes ha sido Garret Gómez. Es una lástima que sus problemas le impidieron montar mas ejemplares y durante mas tiempo, y no solo eso, sino que le causaron la muerte. Arreaba como el mejor, medía muy bien las carreras, y en los finales también defendia como el mejor. Mi país (Venezuela) también ha tenido grandes jinetes (Avila, Tovar, Valiente, Castillo, Jaramillo, Ramón Alfredo Dominguez, Castellanos, Bustamante y Moreira, chilenos pero para efectos prácticos también venezolanos, y mi favorito, Angel Francisco Parra, porque era el mas completo, a pesar de su problema del peso cuando estaba en forma era un jinete casi invencible

You do remember what horse he famously rode on? Big Red or Secrariat. It was Miss Ham who thought of his name. The jockey club needed colorful names, and they continue to probably do the same today.

You asked me about jump racing. I don't know what that means. I'm sorry about that. I never once went to a horse race track, except I was close to one in Cleveland, Ohio. I additionally know of many more of them. Did you ever want to do a 'best of trainers' video? I believe that will be quite interesting.

Eddery made the list but his pronunciation of it is terrible. My dad was his valet when he came to Chicago for the Million races at Arlington. Had Lester too. Both great jocks.

That list is ridiculous, Red Pollard too 10? Lol he didn’t even ride the big match race between Seabiscuit and War Admiral there is no way Red Pollard is even close to Jerry Bailey , John Velasquez, Pat Day , Lafitt Pincay , Chris McCarron , Gary Stevens and many more .

Gustines was freaking horrible. Every time I saw him I threw the horse out. He was somewhat good on turf. Vasquez was great on the front end. Eddie Maple syrup gets a mention.

You are highly inaccuate with your top five greatest jockeys. As others stated, no Cordero, Pincay, McCarran, or Hawley seriously compromises your knowledge. Detorri belongs top five, as does Baeza. Jerry Bailey is a top ten rider. Mike Smith a top fifteen rider. Make room for Irad Ortiz & Calvin Borel in your next edition in five more years.
