My favorite moment is when coach Taylor goes the Matt's house and finds out the kid's like 15 years old, doing well in school, working, paying the bills, taking care of his sick gramma and never bitches and moans. The realization that Matt's going to be one hell of a leader because of how mature and tough he must be to handle that life.

Coach saw saracen was pissing his life away. He knew Matt was capable of so much more. Not only that but that his grandma was depending on him. It wasn't just about a player screwing around it became about coach caring about him as a person. In a perfect world he wouldn't have had to bench him but at that point it was about the success of the team and if one player is holding the team back it would be unfair to everyone else.

Definitely. I recommend reading the true story written by a reporter who moved his entire family to a small town in Texas for a year, and got to know the players of the local high school team. The movie & this tv show was based on it. As a Canadian, I was floored to see how seriously the inhabitants of the whole town take their football- and how they treat these teenaged players if/when they lose a game. The expectations of such young boys are ludicrous, and can scar them for life.

My personal favorite is when Tami has been waiting for Julie to get home from Austin, worried sick (even though Julie told her where she was, who she was with, and when she’ll be back). Julie came in crying because Matt was leaving. It was her first heartbreak, and it made Tami realize that Julie is growing up. She doesn’t need the major supervision from her parents anymore. I love Julie. You guys can call her a spoiled brat, but she was an amazing character and added so much to the show. Matt is lucky to have her. All teenagers are selfish. What other way are they supposed to be? It gives them the opportunity to grow. Even Landry said that Julie was an amazing person. I love her.

I hate how they treated Matt in season 3. He literally carried the Panthers to state(and they won)but JD makes 1 touchdown and he’s “Jason Street Reincarnated.” And I don’t like how Joe abusing JD was swept under the rug. Joe was abusive emotionally and physically. The Taylors did what they were supposed to do by calling CPS and they had the nerve to treat them like they ruined their family. No JOE ruined the family by treating JD like a football player and not his son.

Matt Saracen : I do whatever you ask me to. I helped you win the State Championship. I got you to 3 and 1 this season. I work my ass off at practice. I do everything that you say. If it's cause J.D. is better than me, tell me that. Eric Taylor : My job is to field a team out there that wins games. Right now, that means J.D. McCoy, yes. Matt Saracen : Then I quit. Eric Taylor : You're not quitting this team. I'm not gonna let you quit. I know you. You quit this team, you're gonna hate yourself. You wanna be pissed? Fine, go ahead. You be pissed I don't give a damn. But you're not quitting this team. Matt Saracen : Fine, I'll sit on your bench. I'll come to practice and I'll do whatever you tell me to do. But I'm gonna hate it. And you're gonna hate it. Good talk, Coach.

You know a show is packed when Michael B Jordan barely gets a mention ;) Mind you, the most impactful scene I remember in all of film and television, that's left an impression on me forever wasn't even mentioned. That was when Smash was suspended because of getting in a fight, defending his sister, and he was about to miss the game that could be his last game of football ever. When the Panthers charge out of the locker room, he's left there, forlorn, and I bawled my eyes out. I've never cried as hard watching a movie.
