Why is there just not a couch co op section in the store?? Seems like something that should be there

I would love to have a 4 players local versus/coop section. But these games are usually cheap, don't need PS Plus, don't sell add-ons on the store, nor coins to unlock random loot boxes. They don't represent extra money for Sony, so they hide them and they prefer to showcase other cash grab games. "For the players" (who can spend lots of money)

Buy one, you'll get loads more recommended - the store is like Google, Ebay or Amazon, it's tailored to you based on what you've bought in the past. Failing that, load up PS now, you don't have to sub to it to see the games, and they do have a co-op section to browse to see a lot of the games. Failing that, and you need even more hand holding, just Google PS4 local co-op games and you'll get a list of every single one. You ask why there's no section on the store - it's simple, the same as why you see so very few games now that have co-op when a decade or so ago 100s of games had splitscreen/v's/co-op options - people don't play with friends anymore, it's all online. I've lost count how many mates I've visited in the past few years that don't even own a second pad even if you did want a game. Gaming used to be quite a social hobby, I remember having tournaments with mates on PES, Power Stone, Streefighter, Timesplitters, Goldeneye etc etc - now it's far more solitary, playing online with people while having the mic off cos God forbid you have to speak to anyone when gaming.

Where the hell is BORDERLANDS 3? One of the coolest couch coops games ever, after some patches the game is incredible! Also diablo 3 coop is an amazing experience!

Hell Diver I would love to see streamed on ps access, if for nothing else than the possibility of hearing Rob or Nath screaming in rage after getting hit with friendly fire. Greatness awaits.

Valkyrie needs food badly.

Borderlands, overcooked, diablo3. Also the "Tales of" titles are amazing for lovers of JRPG titles you can play co-op (which are very rare) although in open world only one player controls, the battles are all up to 4 player couch co-op. My wofe and I have probably clocked over 500hours across all the tales of games.

I really enjoyed playing with people "A Way Out." Very fun co-op experience!

Man Helldivers is so good but criminally underrated. I just went back to start playing it a couple days ago and the game was still fantastic.

Worth mentioning: Any of the "Tales of" games can be played with another player for the intire game (up to 4 players at once). The best one in that regard on PS4 is Vesperia. Also Dynasty Warriors style games. Many of them can be played couch co-op. Samurai Warriors 4, One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, etc.

@@bayu4life Yes. But in Berseria it takes about 3 hours until you get your second character (Rokuro). And the co-op camera in Berseria is not very good (still much better than Zesteria's)

Helldivers 10/10. Had a whopping good time playing the game with friends for months!

Good mention of Resogun, first played that when it was one of the first plus titles on ps4, still play it regularly now

I like Diablo 3, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2, Borderlands 2, The Overcooked series, and Rayman Legends for coop times. Though somehow, we always end up getting a round or two of Starwhal in as well. Not Coop, but definitely a a good game for local multiplayer.

A game that surely would fit well in this list: darksiders genesis. It features a fun local co-op gameplay with combat in the same vein as the other games and isometric camera

Playing Crash Bash's adventure mode, even with two players, was a total nightmare to be honest. The crystal and gem challenges are completely unfair and frustrating, and the fact you have to win everything three times makes the game very repetitive. The game is better suited for playing against eachother in my opinion.

Black Ops 3 is also worth a mention. PlayStation need more couch co-op 3rd and 1st person shooters.

My recommendation is salt and sanctuary Really cool 2d dark souls like game and is fully couch coop Worth checking out for how cheap it is 👍

I feel like River City Girls is an underrated gem for this type of game (but it does only have local co op which is a shame because i can't play with anyone else, if it had online co op , i'd be able to play with friends darn but it's still very fun in single player thankfully)

Use Share Play to give a friend a controller online, Share Play stops every hour but your friend can just keep jumping in and continuing exactly where you left off. Me and my brother did this for River City Girls, Spelunky, Cuphead and are now gonna go through Indivisible

Yeah, I did suspect that. I remember a while back finding some written articles by him and them being very well done.

I’m not sure if it’s couch coop for PS4. But we have been having the BEST time with diablo 3 couch coop, with up to 4 players it’s honestly endless fun.

This was always going to be a Countdown to Lego list for me! My six year old son and I have been playing Lego games for at least two years now, and he has even earned the Platinum for Lego Dimensions on his own account. I'm pretty sure I own all of the games that are available on PS4. I would have added Rocket League and Portal Knights to this list, two other great games we like to play together. He would add Goat Simulator, but I can only play that one for a fair amount before old dad gets motion sickness. I might have to add Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris onto my wishlist as after playing Rise, I'm all about Tomb Raiding right now. I really hope Fall Guys can add couch coop to the list and make it so that the second player can earn the trophies, as Rocket League allows that as do most of the Lego games. Thanks for another amazing list, and please keep these coming! I'm surprised A Way Out didn't make the list, but I also have not played it either, as my couch buddy is probably a tad young for that game.

Overcooked and cat quest 3 are great local co-ops. My wife and I also play narrative games(walking dead,until dawn,etc) we just share the controller after each chapter

Diablo 3 is my wife and my go to. Although it's arpg it's also very arcade like. Playing new season 21 and loving the challenge of greater rifts

Actually Solid list, my personal favorite from the list is probably helldivers but you’re missing the Overcooked series oh and my personal favorite coop game of all time Divinity Original Sin 1&2

How about: Trine (Any), A way Out, Unravel 2, A Tale of Two Brothers, Asterix and Obelix XXXL3, Knack 2 or even Rayman Legends? If only Portal and Army of Two would revive on PS4! Can’t wait for Oddworld SoulStorm. Streets of Rage a definite favourite, Batman and TMNT should be brought back like they were in the Genesis, SoR4 style. Great video👏 Very diverse.

My best splitscreen experiences were on a 64-bit console from the 90's. Funny how the $600 supercomputer consoles of today just can't/won't support couch co-op for the most part. If I had to bet money on which feature will be overlooked on next gen consoles, I'd choose couch co-op.

There are more than just arcade old school couch co op platformers. Black iii zombies, borderlands 2, overcooked, spelunky 2 to name a few
