I'm surprised the Action Jackson toy line didn't at least get an honorable mention as well. And yes, played with all these, except the toy line in the number one spot as a kid. Thanks for the up-load.

The 70s had the best toys!!!

I was a 70's kid. Born in 1967, I spent the 70's playing with Mego Superheroes action figures, Planet of the Apes, G.I.Joe, the Six-Million Dollar Man, Star Trek, and my 🔥Hot🔥Wheels🔥, Matchbox, and Corgi die-cast cars. Add AFX, TYCO, and Sizzlers Race cars as well. Oh and you CAN'T FORGET THE SSP's or SST's pull a zipper type plastic line through the middle tire and let it go! That along with the Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle... and you had a action figure AND a 🏁 Racing type car all in one! The 70's were AWESOME! PURELY AWESOME!

Adventure People were the first action figures I remember owning in the times before Star Wars. I think people today think they are kiddie toys simply because Star Wars happened.

Imaginext released some adventure people last year, in their smaller Imaginext size. I found a black suit astronaut, with radar/satellite 🛰 accessory. It was like 3 dollars.

The 70's was my childhood years. I had toys from 7 of the entries on this list. So many great innovations were made that carried over into the golden age of 80's toys. Great video!

Lee Majors went to my high school in the 1950s. My mother-in-law was a classmate of his and one time childhood friend (she graduated one year before he did) and in her later years she swooped up everything she found in Six Million Dollar Man swag. So, at my house, I have a trash can, a bed spread, a few figures, and a lunchbox.

That Big Jim advert "Going to be big friends" reminds me of Action Man advert "Too late he's got Tom Stone in a vicious bear hug "🤣 Seriously great video mate👍👍

Agree with most of the list, but am a bit baffled Micronauts didn't make the cut.

Glad to see Adventure People get a mention. They were my "gateway drug" into action figures.

This sure brings back memories. I still have one of my Fisher Price Adventure People. I've got the motorcyclist. I wish I still had his motorcycle and sidecar, as well as the rider who ride in the sidecar. I should check out Amazon. Evel Knievel's Stunt Cycle was a blast for me. I got it for Christmas in 1977. My Six Million Dollar Man was a blast, too. I also had a few of the Star Trek figures. The 70s was a great time to be a kid.

I had SO MANY of these; I had the Big Jim in the flannel shirt, the GI JOE who was Barbie's date when he was on leave, I had the Six Million Dollar Man figure--including the radio backpack and inflatable base, I had both the Meego Star Trek figures (and bridge!), and super heroes (some Marvel, some DC. I also had the communicator set. Wow, those were great times that I hadn't thought about in YEARS

Born in 72, so i loved Adventure people, 12 Adv Team joes still available in my area, megos. Evil knives stunt cycle rocked. Did not remember big jim commercials

Ideal's Captain Action line in the 60s also licensed both DC and Marvel characters as well as King Features and others. So way back in the 60s kids could do a team-up with Batman and Captain America and throw in Flash Gordon and the Green Hornet for good measure!

The best Adventure people figure was the Motorcycle driver because he was the only one that could bend his knees .. the Gorilla and lion and tiger were also pretty cool the array of vehicles were used with all my Micronauts and Star-wars figures later on ..

Great list. I was ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED with Action Man and Star Wars figures during the 70s. I regret throwing them all away once I became a teenager.

Great video. In the US during the 70s many of my friends and I had shogun warriors, a repurposed mashup of Japanese robot toys. We had no idea what they were but they had rockets, firing fists and swords. The jumbo versions were as big as us and they made great foes for our plastic army men and bionic man figures. Good memories.

Always been a fan of the Lone Ranger

I absolutely love these videos as it takes me right back to my childhood. I had or played with, round mates' houses, pretty much all of these toys! Great time to be a child and the very best toys. Good to see Action Man take top spot where he belongs. Best toy line ever by the best toy company ever. Outstanding video Tony; Bravo my friend. 😁

I had Batman, Robin, and a Batmobile. Those were cool. Got them Christmas 1980 when I was 5. I remember my older brothers had a few of these toys that I used to play with. Lone Ranger was a cool figure too.

New subscriber! Fisher Price Adventure People seem to be lost to history compared to other 70's toys - I absolutely loved them. Despite their non-aggressive theme my collection were constantly getting into violent punch-ups! 😆 The figure designs were indestructable and I remember the box art/photography were top notch. Tony, I wish you'd do some deep dives into these forgotten classics.

@@PuertoGeekan One of the things I liked about the toy line was that it wasn't tied in to an existing cartoon or film franchise - kids could make them their own characters and make up their own stories - use their imaginations to make them whatever they wanted! 🙂

What?! No Micronauts?! Hands down, from the vehicles to the figures, one of the most innovative, interesting and well-made figures of the 70s. I mean, metal figures, full articulation, modular vehicles, an interesting aesthetic...that line wins hands down over the clumsy and imaginationless figure line Big Jim. Even Shogan Warriors deserved a mention here. Those 70s figures from Japan and Takara would be the generators for Transformers in the 1980s and deserve a mention for the 1970s. And the 70s was a time of some weird experimentation with toys...like Pulsar: Man of Action, whose shirt opened to show his working heart...weird, but interesting. Big Jim???? PAHHHH!!!!

I was just about to say where are the micronauts aka microman.

Mego Superheroes was a great toy line. The Batman was my favorite.

My best friend growing up had Star Trek, and Big Jim, I had GI Joe and Action Man. Action Man/GI Joe were always my favourites, but a close second were the Micronauts. After this I loved the Swoppet Cowboy soldier sets but they don't quite qualify as action figures. I always thought that Big Jim was a bit Village People, and the smaller Mego DC, Marvel, and Star Treks weren't the right scale compared to Action Man. Once the Star Wars line came out, I was hooked but I was always pulling the Micronauts out of the closet, the vehicles, and the sheer number of Time Travelers and Galactic Warriors I had made battles and adventures fun.

the Comic Action Heroes line and Adventure People proved that you could have a smaller figure line with scalable figures and playsets that were cheaper to produce and collect than larger scale. late 70s to mid 80 were a great period of 3 3/4 diversity.

I remember the first Mego I received was Action Jackson & all his clothing sets, which Star Trek would use to change into when a clothing disguise was required when beaming down to planet to go undetected.

Excellent follow-up to your Best 80s toy line video! I was actually curious about why Action Man and GI Joe were split into separare entries due to their early figures being the same, but you explained it well and masterfully. Glad to learn more about 70s toys.

A great " Top Ten " video from Analog Toys, highlighting some of the best action figure toylines, not just from the 70's, but of all time!

Great list! Big Jim is my favorite line. It was great that the line continued in Europe, and had so many awesome outfits and vehicles. I think that the Adventure people line is so overlooked, glad you included them. I think we had almost the entire line. Man did they get a lot of play time. They were made so well, and could take a beating. I have acquired most of them back. Keep up the great videos!

As others have mentioned, i kinda wished that the Shogun Warriors made the cut, but nevertheless, it’s always such a pleasure to see a new Analog Toys upload!

Evil Knievel was awesome, I spent hours revving it up and jumping ramps made from great Grandma's welcome mat.

I agree with most of your list......BUT, no Micronauts??? That toy line was incredible!

All great lines, and the 80s definitely took the ideas and ran with them and then some. But these Mego will always be my favorite toys of all; not just the acting out adventures but the fun of seeing who could be created (customized) with just a bit of creativity and what was already available thanks to so many franchises at the same scale. I think I actually had more customs/kitbashed than store-bought by the end.

OMG I remember having those Evel Knievel figures and motorcycle and being so psyched the first 2 or 3 times I ripped that cord out and it took off and then wiped out 2 feet later. Then as I recall it ended up in a basket of discarded toys from her many grandchildren in my grandmother's storage under the stairs! 70's toys are collectible but trust me, as a 70's kid they were about as much fun as a boiled egg.

I had all Star Trek Mego & Bridge. The following month Planet of the Apes & Tree House. Usually Star Trek beamed down & phasers all the Apes, but I do remember Cornelius & Zira stealing Big Jim's Camper to drive to the Forbidden Zone to live because Dr. Zaius order the Ape Solider to harass them. (Not kill but harass). Although the Camper's breaks were sabotaged & Cornelius & Zira would often drive off a cliff. DAMN THOSE WERE GOOD TIMES!! 😁

In Spain we had Madelman. It was action figures inspired by Action Man/ Gi Joe but not so tall. It was adventure, army, western, space theme based. Also we had Famobil (Playmobil under license) and Airgamboys (figures inspired by Playmobil/Fambil figures)

The 70s was gold, indeed. Me and my brother we had 1 Big Jim, 2 Mego Star Treks and I had 2 Action Man (Deep Sea Diver and British Royal Guards). I ended the 70s with my first 2 Star Wars figures.

I guess they started in the 60s but were still popular later so I’m surprised there’s no Marx western and knights figures. I was thinking earlier today how great they were- durable, great detail on the figures, and a ridiculous amount of cool accessories. The outlaw with the dagger cane? Geronimo with all the headdresses? The knights with full removable armour and like 5 or 6 weapons? So cool.

Honorable mention to Johnnie West series. Great video. Tons of memories.

I like watching your videos about 70's toys because almost always end up learning about stuff I didn't know of; like those Lone Ranger toys, very nicely done figures. Being a child of the 80's, I only managed to play with some handed over Mego Superheroes figures and Adventure People toys back in the day.

Great video - very enjoyable list. Big Jim Gold Commander (PACK) - the Lone Ranger & Maskatron are 3 of my all time favorite figures until the release of the Star Wars line. What a great decade to be a kid.

Wow what a blast from the past. Except for the Action Man series I played with all those toys and in fact still have most of them. I'm 53 and have no one to leave them to I should really inventory and do something with them. I was one of those crazy kids that saved all the Star Wars boxes and cards that the figures came on. My Star Wars toy collection is definitely the most extensive of what I have.

This is awesome.

I still have my MEGO Spider-Man, albeit he is in a Batman body. My toddler teeth mangled the original Spidey hands and years later, when I was much older I took interest in what I had left of the MEGO super-heroes. I swapped heads with a still intact Batman figure, mom tightened up the Spidey costume with a sewing job and voila, Spidey is back to normal (sort of). He adorns my office today as a reminder of the good times. I also inherited a Stretch Armstrong (still in the box) in 1979 from a family friend. He lasted until the mid 1980s when his skin started to crack and he oozed quite a bit of gel. Great video!

Great list, and if I had room I would start collecting both Adventure People and The Lone Ranger. I'm surprised Micronauts did not make your list (it would be in the top five of mine) but there is no right or wrong here, only differing opinions. Be well and thanks for the video!

I was surprised the Micronauts didnt make the list too. I actually had the Japanese Star Searcher because my dad was stationed in Okinawa and sent it to me on my 5th birthday, it was blue instead of white. Good times. Honorable mention...Shogun Warriors.

Micronauts and Shoguns (the smaller, diecast/plastic ones, not the big plastic behemoths) were the Big 2 for me. Micronauts number one; nothing else fired my imagination quite like they did. Not surprised they originated out of Japan, as the west just doesn't envision stuff quite like that.

Great video. I had 8 of 10. Didn't do the Fisher Price line nor the Action Man. (To be honest, I don't recall ever seeing those.) Glad to see that Lone Ranger line get a nod. That was one of my favorite toy lines. I could never find Silver or Tonto though so play was kind of limited. Of course, now I'm scouring ebay for them. ;)

The only toys I didn't have on this list was the POTA toys. I couldn't find those since I spent a considerable amount of time living in Canada. Some I had to order by mail, and that taught me a lot about patience. Luckily my family was from Texas, so most were purchased there. My aunt would send me Action Man toys from England.

Omg! That was like taking a trip back in time through my childhood! Of course, Kenner Star Wars became my favorite once they finally released. But, man, I had almost every toy on the list! Man, I can only imagine how many hours I logged playing with the Fisher-Price Adventure People! The only thing missing from the list are Weeble-Wobbles! 😂 Thanks so much for making this video!

Thank you so much for this. Such happy memories. Modern kids can have their simple brain drain video games. They do not build imagination the way voicing your own figures and playing out daring scenarios did for us.

Great video thanks for making it. I had a whole host of Action Man figures including the Talking Commander, Space Ranger - and his enemy can’t remember his name. I also had the Six Million Dollar Man figure and I can clearly remember the bionic eye and various bionic panels on him. My favourite action figures tho were the ‘Cyborg’ ‘Muton’ and ‘Android’ figures but you don’t hear much about them these days tbh. I absolutely loved those when I was a kid, really wish I still had them now. The only thing I have left is a handful of Star Wars figures - and my 2000AD comics!

Planet of the Apes figures were the bomb. Especially when we had wars w/ GI Joes.

That was great Tony. I had some and my best was G I Joe. I had one figure but like 1,100 different changes of clothes and accessories. My buddy had the Helicopter and Space Capsule. But on our block some had The Six Million Dollar Man and Big Jim (Big Jim Sports camper…). Oh and we all had AT least one of the Mego Superheroes. Thanks for the memories…

They did, Micronauts were my favourite after the original GI Joe/Action Man line.

I had all the Denys Fisher Doctor Who figures, and I also loved playing with my Playmobil Playpeople Hospital Playset

This was great fun! I’d have to include the Micronauts though. It was probably unrivaled in variety and scope.

Can’t argue with that Top 3, great video and people forget just how huge Action Man was in the 70s until Star Wars came along.

I had Big Jim, G I Joe with Kung Fu grip, Evil Knievel, & Planet of the Apes.

I had a evil kanevil and made a parachute for him and threw him up where he grabbed a tree branch and stayed way up in the tree over the driveway for about 5 or 6 years until a wind storm knocked him down. He was in excellent condition considering where he was.

Bonus: Stretch Armstrong

Excellent video. I owned every one of these as a kid in the 70’s except Action Man. Including runner up Planet of the Apes.
