Bought the Medley 150 last year. Best purchase ever. The 125 would be more than sufficient as well I think, as these engines develop lots of torque at the rear wheel.

The new sh125i colours give it a nice sporty look the Matt pearl white and Matt rock grey really makes a good argument for number 1

This is perfectly timed for me, taking my cbt at the end of January and trying to decide what to get for after then. This is certainly helpful ☺

Get yourself a Piaggio Liberty S….simple air cooled engine, single overhead camshaft with 3 valve’s, it’s comfortable and cool looking.

Nice video. Its a good time for me, cos my 20 year old 2 stroke just died a death finally, and I've been really torn between the SR GT 125 and the Italjet Dragster. I'm thinking I'm gonna go for the SR after giving it a lot of thought.

Totally agree with the Medley at number 1. Owned one for 6 months and travelled over 3,000 miles. MPG @ 120 and phenomenal reliability. Slim body makes it easy to filter and the lights are amazing. Local dealer is the icing on the cake. 2 year warranty and 12 months breakdown assistance. Why wouldn't you buy one. Love it. Beverly 400 next.

I’ve owned a Beverly 400, heavy at 190 Kg but a really good machine for motorway journeys. Top speed about 95 MPH and twin pipes !

Medley 125 or Honda SH125i/SH150i? Does Medley offer enough space for tall people?

I totally agree with your selection and I really love the Piaggio and it looks and big wheels and good storage. I think big weekend scooters are so much better. Thank you for the great review 😊.

Depreciation is a huge (mostly overlooked) cost of scooter ownership and out of the top 10, it’s really only the Honda PCX and the Yamaha NMax (and possibly the Vespa) that maintains reasonable resale values.

Good choice! I hope you get on very well with it! Cracking scooter.

Having ridden honda scooters for years, I've got to say that the drum brake is brilliant on the back wheel. It's saved me a few times, where it tends to slide your back end instead of grabbing it. And this tendency to rely on the front disc can get you splattered. Also I got the conjoined brakes separated, Now I can use the back brake for slipping through traffick. Throttle and back brake only makes for no wobble, Got that tip from a police bike rider, try it.

It's easy to tune your disk brakes by changing the pads. There's nothing inherently superior about drum brakes except they used to cost the manufacturer less to produce than disc brakes. And in the old days the pad materials used to be more sensitive to water splashing so the drums could survive a puddle or two better than unshielded disc brakes. But the drums also hold water in longer once it's inside. But ever since materials have improved there's no real place for drum brakes on any motor vehicle. I guess they want to have upgrade talking points and put the drum brakes on the lower-priced models.

Thanks for the video very informative, I've been on bikes and have only ever had one scooter which was in the mid 60s , these scooters are very eco and futuristic looking , I think A B S on a scooter should be a must , especially with scooters having smaller wheels in most cases .

I have a Honda Sh125i which is great. Only slight issue i have is it is hard to get muffs to fit the handlebars.

Had my 2016 Lexmoto FMS 125 for four years now,it's been brilliant, will do an indicated 65 mph which is not bad for a 125cc engine, If you look after them, wife them down and clean them regularly they will last.

Honda PCX from my 8000 kilometres over one year experience. I am sure the other scooters are good too, and I have averaged 125mpg (52 Kilometres per litre) over one year.

Do you keep up with available scooters in Philippines? Not many choices for 125cc “maxi” style with extended leg room as well as floorboard for transporting larger items. The new Burgman EX isn’t real powerful but checks those boxes. Owners rave about cruising seat comfort on long rides and no overheat issues. Now has silent start, 12” rear wheel and start stop tech. Without some upgrades like ABS but at 93K pesos the price is attractive. Any advice? Thanks for this nice video!

I own a SR GT. With 190cm/6.2 feet, SR GT's clearance of the ground and size really helps me get comfy, I'd recommend nothing else if you are like me.

I bought a Sym Jet 14LC in february. It's a replacement for the Kymco Agility City 125 I had for nearly 14 years. Way better lights, ABS, more underseat storage and a stronger engine. And quite a bit smoother and quieter. It will get a Topcase installed next week when it gets it's first inspection.

@@walidovicvald2978 Both SYM and Kymco ar Taiwanese manufacturers. Which happen to have factorys in Mainland China. But they deliver quality rather than crap. The only time my Kymco's didn't start was when either the battery was death or one time a blown fuse. And i had a broken luggage Hook on my bigger Kymco due to my own stupidity 😅.

@@walidovicvald2978 the nearest Honda and Yamaha Dealership to me are 40km away. The dealer i got the Sym from is about 12km away. They also have Suzuki, KTM and Husqvarna.

As someone who has owned Euro 5 versions of the Piaggio Medley and the Honda PCX I would like to add to your assessment of these scooters. The Medley has a slightly more informative display showing 2 trip meters ( 1 for the PCX) and also ambient air temperature. As you say the Medley produces 15BHP with a top speed of 70 MPH versus the PCX’s 12.5 BHP and 65 MPH. It also has a slightly greater amount of underseat storage although the PCX still has room for a full face helmet + room for gloves etc. The PCX however outshines the Medley in other ways, if looks are important the PCX wins hands down. It’s fuel consumption is at least 20% better than the Medley and is considerably lighter (about 30 Kg). I’m 5’7” and sitting on the PCX I can get my feet flat on the ground, on the Medley I could not achieve that level of control. The turning circle of the PCX is better and manoeuvring on a gravel driveway is far easier on the PCX. Likewise putting the bike on the centre stand is easier with the PCX. The PCX consistently outsells not only the Medley but all other scooters and powered two wheelers in the UK, I don’t think those consumers have got it wrong. One final point in my experience both bikes handle superbly and are ideal for the twisty A and B roads in my area.

I’m 5’7” and sitting on the PCX I can get my feet flat on the ground, on the Medley I could not achieve that level of control, is that the same as saying your too short for the Piaggio?

What's the best bike to do the Knowledge for London black cab I don't know much about bikes but so far think it's Honda SH 125 considering I'm going to do lot of riding on the road

What would you recommend for longer commuting distances in between cities? When speeds around 55mph are needed to feel safe in traffic? I prrsonaly dont mind style of the medley but im little bit woried about weather protection.

Forza 125 is one of the best performing 125s. 15hp, and wet weight of 161kg. Reviews suggest 60mph cruising is comfortably achieved. Fairing and electric windscreen suggest good weather protection.

For me most of the scooters selected are small touring motorcycles wannabe scooters look wise at least. I prefer retro looks. Having said that if I were to go for a modern look it would be your first choice especially at that price. What did surprise me was the Suzuki for a no frills commuter its an excellent scooter. Maybe just maybe Im giving my age away. My favs price not to be considered is the Vespa and Lambretta.

Honda reliability every time over the Piaggio. That's been my experience of both manufacturers. Real world ownership of Honda far better than Piaggio.

Your chioces of top ten are great.I ride a forza 125, not in your top ten as its more of maxi scooter. Looking at your top ten I think I would love to buy the aprila 125, but what puts me of is there isn't any ABS, yet they added track controle, doesnt make sense.They should have push it a little for the ABS .That siad I think I would still consider it, Should it get an update in the future to ABS.I would class it number 1 in the top ten of 2024 If it got the update to ABS alongside the track controle. just my opinion given its looks and specs. I am surprised you didnt include the all new ADV sym 125 has ABS track controle 15ltr fule tank cabaility of road on road fantastic looks its a all rounder number one contender as well

After just quitting my job and giving back my company car I feel it’s the right time to get a scooter for my new daily commute. I’ve never rode a scooter or motorcycle before, always had cars, and it daunts me a little bit…I’m almost 60 years old now and all I need is reliability and good economy. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

My pick is the Yamaha BMS 125 in black, looks great love the flat floor for caring things like getting gas for the just put a 20 liter gas container between your legs. the trunk is a good size, and comes with a rear rick all ready to add a top box Priced at 4,699 Canadian rated for 103 mpg ( 2.28 liters per 100 km.) and a 1.6 gal gas tank 6.06 liters. should give good range. Did have the Yamaha 400 Majesty and loved it but for country living I will take the Yamaha BMS 125. as I have a CB500X for long highway drives. Good video but we have different needs for a scooter.

to be fair though, the PCX got even much better with the 2023 model. It´s got the 14.5hp engine now, same as the Forza and ABS+TC are a HUGE plus at that prize. But I agree, the design of the SR GT is very appealing. Me being rather short, I´d go with the PCX personally.

Piaggio-liberty-125-s. great price and general all rounder. What do you think.

How does the suzuki burgman 125 compare with the pcx and nmax?

About to go pick up APC x But I've been riding Chinese 150s For a couple years and I've gone through 2 that cost me less than $200 a piece they've got their problems but are good for the money

I bought a new Piaggio Medley 125 in April 2021 and, following a very grim first 3-4 months, it's been great. The problem I had was that the engine warning light came on after about 100 miles on the clock. Contacted the dealer who said to bring it in, by which time the light was off. This happened intermittently for 3-4 months involving 3 returns to the dealer before the problem was eventually rectified (a software update issue or something). During this time, it has to be said I was pretty unhappy with it and the dealer. However, since the software issue was corrected, it has been excellent. The bike has terrific acceleration and will hit 70 mph at the drop of a hat. Storage is excellent and I now have a top box on order ready for the summer. The only other negative is that occasionally the glove box cover on the rear of the leg shield drops open during transit, a little unnerving when you're not expecting it and you have to get it back in place!

Piaggio is great, apart from the fact that it breaks after 100 miles 🤣🤣🤣🤣. PCX will simply NEVER break, it just goes on and on, and on.

I´m a little surprised you didn´t put the Forza in. Yes, you said "no maxi scooters" but it is the direct competitor to the NMax... But okay, it´s nice for a change not so see a Honda at the top spot ;)

You should have mentioned the Sinis' rear suspension.

I have a 125cc Medley 17 plate and 50200 miles the head gasket has just gone. Was hoping to get well over 60k as I maintain it better than most do. I am disappointed for this to happen. The scooter is in excellent condition so I will be dropping a second hand engine in it, but altogether it another £850 to £900 with labour etc. I also own the 21 plate Medley which has done 17k. I now wait to see if the 21 plate engine gets further than the 17 plate. I do over 20000 miles a year so wont be too long for an update.

How do you find the Medley from a getting dirty point of view when its raining or the roads are filthy, this is something that doesn't seem to be mentioned much in the reviews and for me is crucial to looking after bikes. Great that you are getting some big miles in on yours.

I m 79 , been riding bikes most of my life . In recent years changed to a PCX. The Shi , Vespa , Suzuki Address and Medley are attractive to my age because the hump in the middle can be annoying.

Useful info.

That Start/Stop technology will wear out your battery, starter motor and engine neglecting any tiny increase in fuel economy.

Never used the start stop, mine has been turned off on my Nmax since I bought the scooter , almost 6000km.

Nice Top 10 list. Tiny request for future tests: Please check suitability of any scooter you get for tall people. For me it seems scooters are not made for tall people. I'm 193cm height and it's quite difficult to find a 125cc scooter which fits for me. Thanks.

You should look into the vespa gts 125 range then bud, I'm 190cm in height and find it to be really comfortable, loads of leg room and super comfortable!

@@skulkauk Thansk for your hint. I prefer Scooters with big wheesl (16" or 14"). Today I was sitting t on a Kymco New People S 200i ABS, which seems to have loads of leg room. Test ride wasn't possible today but this is planned as soon as the Kymco dealer has a New People S 200i ABS availabe for test ride.

Are you aware of RKS NEWLIGHT 125 PRO. Awesome design and stylish.

Aprilia SR GT is No1 so far ! ! I have the SR GT 200 Sport Red color , its fantastic and very very powerfull ! !

Tried the SR 125 and PCX, but would like to try also the Medley. Those interested can check all my scooter content. :) A great video. Straight to the point. I enjoyed. Keep going.

It may be your top 10 but putting the SH125i at six is nonsense, it has more power than the PCX, ABS on both front and rear wheels unlike the PCX, has larger wheels that give better ride quality than the PCX. It has a flat floor and hook to carry a bag unlike the PCX which makes it easier to get on and off and is one of the best selling scooters in Europe. When I choose to buy a 125 scooter I looked at plenty but for me the one that stood head and shoulders above the others in features, build quality and practicality was the SH125i and personally I like the styling and the red colour I chose. If you are going to do these top 10 best scooters vids then maybe use a few people instead of the opinion of just one person that really means nothing.

I’m disabled by my neck, my Subaru 03 Forester after perfect care fell victim to the apparently well known head gasket issue, ruined engine, very, very angry. Despite the danger of scooters, I’m thinking of switching as my budget before I can access any retirement funds is tight..I’m thinking of a 125cc Honda or Yamaha..

What about Taiwanese Sym and Kymco scooters? For example, Sym Jet 4 RX 125? There are also top scooters like Honda Click 125i, and Yamaha Mio Gear S 125, Yamaha Cygnus Gryphus 125.

Whichever doesn't have Start-Stop tech, is winner for me

I own Piaggio Medley 125cc, im more than satisfied with torque, top speed and storage.

The thing that struck me as an obvious fault in your number one pick is that it has no windshield. I could understand that feature on the Vespa, for "style" reasons, but the Piaggio ought not be governed by that particular consideration. It's a feature of importance for any scooter actually being used for commuting.

Mine is sym jet 4 125cc I’ve had mine for 2months 3years now soon I’m going to be upgrading my bike to a sym jet 14 125cc

Favourite scooter for me Zontes M 125

The overall best is the Honda Forza, but the best on its price is the PCX. The Medley is very beautiful, has a big storage under the seat, but the seat is not comfortable and its not on the technical high than Honda.

Let's be honest, the only one proven to reach 100,000 km is the PCX. Buy a scooter with second hand spare partes available or you'll struggle alot

Kymco Should have been on the list at least at 9 or 10

Actually the Medley will not get anywhere near 70 mph as it has an rpm restrictor at 111 kph indicated (103 GPS) so while it will accelerate faster than the PCX it will not have a higher top speed than around 63 mph max, which makes the PCX equal to it. So the only advantage of the Medley is the under seat storage, but the PCX is a better overall scooter with higher fuel efficiency, comfort and reliability. That is why a new Medley is heavily discounted while the PCX is not.

As owner of Yamaha N-Max i must agree with You. Cons: Same engine in R-125 has full 15BHP vs 12BHP in N-Max Storage underseat fit only one full helmet or two open helmets Poor wind/rain protection (knees, arms, shoulders and head) with standard size windscreen. And 6.5 litre tank can be bigger Pros: Amazing fuel economy in town ABS in standard Great handling in wind, rain (but i change tyres in mine to all season one) Suspension is firm but comfortable Very nimble but stable at slow speed - You can crawl for miles, without put feet on ground One of biggest leg room on 125cc bikes

@@70Dazky Not really - driving licence A1 only allows to 125cc max. So capacity is not a issue. No need heavier less efficient 155cc engine. Just silly decision of Yamaha to cut off power of this engine to 9 kW. Same 9kW engine is fitted to Xmax as well. Same engine is in R125 - but there Yamaha decide to unlock full 11kW... So they can do it. Honda or Aprillia has 11kW in their 125cc scooters. Power 11kw = 15BHP, 9kW = 12BHP

This NEW HONDA PCX 125cc Slimmer Face looked very, very ELEGANT, HOPE there's also a Metalic Blue and Grey colors to let us choose the best at least 3 different colors of New PCX 125cc versions!!

I'm a little sad with the quote from Lexham on a new pcx125......I have held a full clean licence for 38 years and the cheapest quote was £513 😂😂😂😂

In Turkey, black market people buy and sell honda pcx 125 cc scooters instead of gold silver and stock market, it is impossible to find in the market this much valuable, I recommend a super scooter

Putting the SH at #5 just cause you don't like the looks? What's the point of this Top10 then?

The Aura is great when you buy it new but the reliabilty doesn't compare to a Yamaha or Honda. I did 17k on my Aura in 18 months, it started chewing belts on the regular no matter what parts I changed, at one point I did the clutch, variator and belt, 600 miles later, another one gone. The switch to turn the bike on was dodgy at times, batteries in the FOB would drain between 2 weeks and 6 months. The tyres are deadly in winter conditions, so throw another £120 on for a good set of rubber. The handlebars were slightly off centre which was annoying. A creak in the front end developed after 6 months which I never found a solution for. The fuel gauge stopped working after 12 months, had to rely on trip meter and fill up at 160 miles.The engine side of things, no real complaints, it's just everything else attached to it which is lacking in quality. I've since purchsed a 2023 ex demo PCX with 800 miles on. Wow, what a bike. A literal jetski on wheels. The quality difference is instantly noticable. I've not had the bike for long enough to compare any long term issues but first impressions fill me with confidence.

They don't make xmax 125 or forza 125 this year ? Was expecting those two on the list

Hey, both are great but as I say at the beginning of the video this does not included 125cc maxi's as I'll cover that in a separate video.

Best 125 scooter is the grand filano. Practicality is excellent, very reliable and excellent fuel economy. But if your ego over rides practicality then ride your dream.

It's so weird to watch PCX and Nmax in 125cc group, here in Indonesia ours are 160 and 155cc respectively. Yes, Nmax also more popular here than PCX

For me is best money/value/quality Honda PCX

@@BikeMatters I would go as far as to say they are 'overlooked'. Look at the biking media and it is either Chinese cheapies, expensive Japs, or 'classics'. They are mentioned but not as much as they should. PS As an aside Piaggio need to put the Beverly's 400cc motor in a long wheel base classic.........
