I put tierra in my plunder patroll deck cause its funny and I summoned in a 4 player free for all which meant all 4 people were left with nothing on the field

Only way Fiber Jar could have been worse is if it reset all player's lifepoints to 8000. Could anyone imagine that? "Oh no, I'm losing, better reset the entire duel!"

Afaik fiber jar doesn't reset the turn counter, so really even if events suddenly stopped caring about how long a duel could go for, fiber jar could theoretically be game winning for things like final countdown, imagine getting through all their stall and end up flipping a fiber jar. I realize it being a flip monster it still likely wouldn't see play in a final countdown deck in the modern era, but technically it would be a huge boon to it if it ever managed to activate

@@zyad48 If the deck can access an Extra deck monster that can change a monster's battle position to attack or flip it face-up (while allowing Flip effects to activate, unlike Ceasefire), it can use Fibre Jar for stalling purposes. Monsters that can do that are Junk Gardna, Karakuri Shogun mdl 00 „Burei“, CXyz Mechquipped Djinn Angeneral, Wind-Up Zenmaister, Photon Papilloperative, or Gouki Jet Ogre (if you are willing to run some combo to give your set Fibre jar to your opponent first, ou hve a lot more options here).

Another way fiber jar could've been worse is if it also reset all banished cards as well. But nowadays, imagine your opponent uses pot of desires and then you reset them with fiber jar

You should do a video on the most unique summoning mechanics like how ultimate flagship ursatron requires two field spells to be summoned.

Funny thing I've seen a few times in Master Duel, is that one of the greatest and funniest counters to Maxx "C" has been running Card Destruction after summoning a ton with decks like Stardust that Synchro-spam. It usually is hard to counter once you have a board of Stardust negates as they are forced to deck out.

Imperial Order for more than one errata that wasn't touched on. They didn't just make its payment mandatory. They added an extra payment by forcing it on EACH standby phase instead of on your own standby phase.

This errata won me a game. I stalled out a true draco deck running it with sky strikers by doing just enough damage with hayate and drawing my stupid 1-of traps like wall of disruption and mirror force. Eventually they ran out of LP as I was almost out of my extra deck, and the 9 or so brick spells across my hand/field became live all at once

12:40 fun fact, in the game “Yugioh legacy of the duelist: link evolution” summon sorceress is glitched, you can only ever summon a monster to the far left zone (if summoning to your field), no matter where sorceress was placed or if the zone was already occupied. If it was occupied the monster in the zone vanished entirely, it wouldn’t even go to the graveyard or deck or anything😂

Master Duel is buggy too, just not to that extent

Ah the days when duels lasted 10-15 minutes of back and forth. Now the opponent going second might be lucky to even reach turn 2.

Magical Scientist was not just an FTK, although that was likely the primary reason behind it's banning. It was just too good in-general since it allowed a tool box to get you through whatever situation you were in. Ryu Senshi gave you outs if your opponent was sitting on a trap card, Thousand Eyes Restrict to get rid of a monster, Dark Balter to hit into a face down monster, Super Roboyarou/Dark Flare Knight to get over Berserk Gorilla. It also could help end the game with a United We Stand.

@@lamarpray5324 they don’t even need to put that on every card, they just need to add that clause to the Master Rule, like how they changed trap monsters without changing any cards. That master rule should apply to all monsters except monster that states it can be use “x” amount of time in one turn.

Seeing how many cards became broken after Link Monsters released, i imagine the format where Link first came out was extremely wild

Tbf Links came out with the intention of slowing down the game and to make it more "fair", as the Extra Deck now were restricted to the extra zones and zones link monsters points to. The problem was the Link Monsters themselves with a bunch of over the top effects.

Some of those cards were banned pre-emptively before link monsters came, but some of them were completely went off the radar. Things like Grinder Golem managed to be a menace for a short while.

It started somewhat slow because of the previous Master Rule 4 limitations (Extra Deck monsters of any type could only be summoned to a monster zone a link monster pointed to, or the one extra monster zone). But not much later pure link strategies started rising (gouki, trickstars, salamangreat, etc)

Level Eater could definitely come back if it gets the errata, cannot be used for Link summoning. It’d still be a great card but not exactly broken anymore. That’s what I’m hoping for, I miss the little guy.

Another aspect of Fiber Jar is that it does *not* reset anything banished, so any player who activated Desires doesn't get their 10 cards back, for an example.

I remember that some people sided Spiritualism to bounce imperial order because the effect of that card can't be negated.

2 ideas: It would be really cool if we got a video on rulings, sorta like the ones u have on who wants to be a milleniumare. You could do it like your typical videos so the format isnt too different, sorta like present the situation and then how players could get confused by it, and then say what actually happens. Another idea is the history of the MST negates debate that happened throughout yugioh history. It feels more like a video essay but would be nice if its interesting

Imagine someone summons shock master 3 times and just doesn't let you play 😂

I’d like to see some deep cuts on specific formats, or time periods. “Top ten cards during this era of the game” like a Time Capsule into what players prioritized in deck building back then.

I remember a little while back when I did a progression series with a friend, I pulled two Fiber Jars and decided to try a Fiend Comedian banish mill deck. The goal was to get them to use as many cards as possible before they attack a set Jar, flipping the Fiend Comedian on attack declaration. If you miss the coin flip, the duel would just be a little longer. The match lasted over two hours and the deck failed, but it did make for a good comedic afternoon.

I am surprised Painful Choice is not on the list.

Triple tactics talent is an interesting card, because it has 3 game winningly powerful effects, in a format where its easy to fulfill its requirements. The only real restriction that keeps it off the banlist is the hard once per turn. Really shows how powerful not being once per turn is

@@Ale-xv1un Infernity Launcher and Archfiend are on the list because the deck can loop for days if you could play plural Archfiend and Launcher. A full-power Infernity could easily end on a board of 2-3 Barrier, 4-mat Apollousa, Void Ogre Dragon, and probably even more negates while still playing through an arsenal of handtraps. The reason hard OPT clauses exist is because of exactly Infernity.

This is such a cool video idea. I didn't know spellbook of judgement was that strong but it makes sense.

Interesting thing about Level Eater was that it was banned in the OCG long before Link Monsters were a thing because it made summoning powerful Synchro Monsters far too easy and consistent in that format. People would use it to turbo out Psyframelord Omega to repeatedly rip cards out of their opponent's hand for example.

I think Fiber Jar needs a retrain called 'Fibre Jar' which, upon being flipped up, resets each player's hand, field, GY, banish zone & LP, and resets the turn counter back to 0 and any lingering effects applying to either player like Reckless Greed's draw skip. A _true_ reset in gamestate.

Maxx C is so format warping that not only do OCG decks have to play specific counters for it but decks live and die by how they handle it. Red Eyes Dark Dragoon engine was tier 1 in OCG because it put a powerful boss on the board in just a few summons. It was only just fine in the TCG but only because the TCG can spam like crazy to get to better bosses for a similar number of resources without getting punished as hard (still gotta watch out for Nibiru though!)

Nah, red reboot is actually pretty healthy as one off. Just look at ocg and md, red reboot never become a problem there.

It's about as okay as a number of Floodgates and Stun cards that essentially fill the same purpose, and most of those are at 3 in the TCG while Master Duel has many of them at 2 or even 1 now. Floodgates are an even worse issue in Best of 1 than they are in a Best of 3, but Bo3 deckbuilding is often ruined by the existence of so many of them as sacky wincons that lessen the need for actual strategic play.

It's fine in a best of 1 format because you're risking valuable deck space for a card that only works against a limited number of decks, most of which are not meta. But in a best of 3 format, where you know you can side it in (or not) after you see what the opponent's using in game 1, it's broken.

It's interesting that this video popped up in my recommended today of all days. Konami announced a new OCG Banlist effective from April 1st where Summon Sorceress was unlimited with an errata, which probably means it's coming back to TCG and Master Duel soon too.

I never understood why Fiber Jar is considered as one of those Stall cards. It doesn't reset the duel back to one. Lifepoints you lost had still been lost and (albeit, this is more modern duels) any cards that were removed from play stay removed. However, what would probably help is if the card was erataed so that it gets removed from play itself rather than being reshuffled into the deck with all of the other cards.

I remember a duel in the before times where I used fiber 3 times during the duel and I got beat cause it recycled my opponents raigeki and he used it on me 3 times and I didn't have one back then

I usually like decks that can special summon consistently from the hand, deck, or graveyard, even if they aren't exactly a swarm archetype. So my usual counter when Maxx "C" is activated? Just go ahead and keep my special summoning going. If my opponent is using Maxx "C" to discourage me from setting up my field by padding out their hand, then they likely have other ways to get the cards they need where they need to be anyway, so why not just set my winning strategy up while I'm able? If they can't do anything to me even with me basically giving them free cards, great, the victory is mine. If my field is toppled by even just one of the cards I gave them, then them's the brakes.

I remember making someone tableflip someone with my Fiber Jar deck that was specifically meant to get it out in any way possible while also grinding the opponents graveyard to the banished card zone.

honestly a way i could see Magical scientist return is by making his effect a once per turn and have its summoned fusions effects be disabled. and not sacraficable for other cards this way you could still potentially use it as a reaction to defend or just as an offensive tool to take out maybe one of the enemys cards but it couldnt ever be busted anymore cuz what would it do for you to summon for example mudragon but its effect is disabled and you cant sacrafice it for another fusion/link/xyz/sync/ritual or just a stronger monster.. it essentially would be a pay 1k hp to remove 1 enemy minion or trapcard if they dont want to get beaten up and ontop only once per turn so even at best you could only activate this effect 2 per turn if it where to be comming back for a full use of 3

I do find it interesting that despite how much Fiber Jar is hated we still get much weaker versions of it in Rainbow Bridge of Salvation and the Sword Emperor spirit monster from time to time that completely reset the board state. So clearly Konami is OK with these cards existing as long as they happen once in a blue moon

with fiber jar it actually would advance the game state as the number of cards that remove from play in a duel on average is a lot more than what it used to be, and fiber jar doesn't return remove from play cards so it would be an interesting card to play if their opponent has removed a lot of their card from play in a massive combo. a flipping of fiber jar would essentially destroy parts of their combo as few of their piece have been removed from play. but the fiber jar would need to add an erata that add the stipulation that fiber jar must be removed from play as a part of the effect resolution.

Insane that Shock Master is banned because it stops you from being able to play yet Kashtira is a thing... Lock you out of your zones, banish any extra deck monster you want, banish all your cards from your deck face down, then when a card is banished it attaches itself to Arise-Hart as material. But yeah, fear the shock master.

How about "cards that overwrite rules" something like double summon that let's you do 2 summons one turn, because the rules say you can only normal summon or set once per turn, or cards like macrocosmos that banish instead of sending to gy, or fusion cards that don't use polymerization,and so on

Fiber Jar burn/final countdown decks were so fun back in the day.

Given that the main game is unlikely to see a new summoning mechanic in the near future, I wish they would just go back and errata the cards like Level Eater on the ban list to add a restriction to not be used as link material. Be it on the monster itself or tokens created.

I don't mind Maxx C since its counters are also great cards for general use and they don't turn intro bricks in case MaxxC doesn't show up. Ash Blossom and Called by the Grave, for example, are still useful in any deck. But I agree that seeing every deck having these cards reduces the diversity in deck building

About the deck diversity, most people would say that Maxx C increases the diversity in OCG compared to TCG, since it enables more decks to be viable. Cause it forces heavy summon combo decks to build around it, while it allows decks that don't have a lot of summons per turn, to have a strong counter, while they don't need cards to build around Maxx C.

Back around 2005, I ran Fiber Jar in my favorite deck. it focused on banishing monster cards, then using Fiber Card for the reset to have a clear field for my modest monsters like Kycoo the Ghost Destoryer to get direct attacks. I'd use cards like Mirror Force, Lightning Vortex and like the like to blow up multiple cards at once, then use Soul Release to banish 5 at a time from the GY. Back then, there weren't any good options to getting banished cards back, so the losses were pretty much permanent. Then they released DD Dynamite and Soul Release got even more powerful and Fiber Jar would let me use them even more since Fiber Jar doesn't return banished cards back to the deck.

Here's my take on how these cards could possibly come off the banlist if possible. Fiber Jar - It's a hilarious card, but its lack of requirements make it too easy to resolve. Having to jump through 50 hoops for the reset is a bit too much with just an errata, so the original Fiber Jar should stay banned, but a heavily nerfed retrain would be cool to see. Forceful Sentry - The main issue with this one is the fact that any disruptions or playmakers in your opponent's hand just disappear. I think that skipping to the End Phase could potentially work, as that way it would function similarly to using Ash Blossom on a searcher, but without the chance of recursion. It could come back at 1 if it had a big restriction on it like skipping to the End Phase. Other than that, I don't see a way this can come off. Level Eater - The issue is that it's too easy to spam and make massive boards. Junk Speeder would have the same problem if it didn't lock you into Synchros from the Extra Deck for the turn. I think a HOPT or banish when it leaves the field in addition to locking you into Synchros from the Extra Deck can allow Level Eater to come back in some capacity. Shock Master - Even making it a HOPT and only last until the end of the turn it's used would still be too broken. Unless it got an errata or retrain that simply negated the next card of that type the opponent activates, Shock Master is likely staying banned. Soul Charge - Same with Forceful Sentry. It's too cracked as it is now even with its current restrictions. Perhaps if it locked you out of special summoning for the rest of the turn after you use it would work at 1 copy per deck? Simply nuking the summoned monsters during the EP would do nothing to hurt its viability. Red Reboot - As much as I like this card, I think it should stay banned. It can't really be errata'd without the lockdown of traps for the turn or its hand activation effect. Summon Sorceress - Simply locking you into the type of the monster you summon won't work for letter her off the banlist. Somebody else mentioned limiting your summons to 3 after the effect activates, which could potentially work, and Summon Sorceress would still see a fair amount of play with this new effect. If she came off at 1 with that effect, it could work out. Imperial Order - Yeah, this one can stay banned. Magical Scientist - The way it is now, it's just Cyber-Stein on steroids. I think a HOPT and returning to the ED when the monster leaves the field could work, but even then, that's a stretch. I'm not sure the OG could come off, but a retrain could work. Maxx "C" - When it comes to the TCG, I believe it should stay banned. But, in theory, if it WERE to become unbanned with some kind of nerf, I think limiting the number of draws you can make with the effect to around 2 could work, with 1 copy per deck. Again, that's a stretch and I think Maxx "C" should simply stay how it is in all existing formats. Please don't wage war in the replies, I'm just theory-crafting here.

When it come to Soul Charge, I like the idea of no special summons after the card's activation. Same with Summon Sorceress. That addition would allow a lot of other cards to come off. Also... negate the effects of all monsters summoned with these cards.

most cards that counter maxx C is also used to stop common threats in the current meta like ash negating searchers or called by negating gy effects which are very common now

I've used Fiber Jar before, but not to stall the game. A long time ago, way before the Synchro Era, there were Monarchs! Resetting the field with a fresh hand, while D.D. Scout Plane and D.D. Survivor are banished, sweet music to my ears!

It was an anime only card from season 4 of the DM series, which aired in Japan in 2003

Pretty wild seeing this after seeing that Summon Sorceress is getting the errata and coming off the ban list.

Summon Sorceress is one of my favourite generic Link Monsters and I want to see her come back at some point in the future. The sad thing is I traded for a copy of her and then two days later after I get her she gets banned…that sucked.

Maxx "C" might not be as bad if it was errata'd to make it so the draws happen only at the end of the turn. It'd still be broken but at least you wouldn't have to be as concerned about hand traps as you would be with the current version.

@@AC_4643 I think drawing DRNM is a fair game because you can only activate it on your next turn and if we errata it with can't activate other card after this then it will perfect for going 2nd but useless for going first.

Surprised you didn't bring up that new numbers spell card that summons one number from the extra deck by doing addition, and then gives it like 4 materials. Shock master can never exist at the same time as this card.

Shock master can never be legal at all.

Imperial Order is the first to be Forbidden in the TCG after receiving a functional errata, having previously been Forbidden before the errata

Huh, as someone who uses a Valkeyrie deck in Yugioh Master Duel, it is wild to see a more general purpose card that acts similar to Final Light. That Soul charge does seems very broken.

If level eater were just errata’d to say that it can’t be used as link material, it would solve SO MUCH about that card.

I prefer Maxx "C" being banned. It's way too broken and not fun at all to play against. Maxx "C" is kinda the reason why I don't play Master Duel anymore.

I can see fiber jar being good at some sort of control strategy where your trying to chain burn your opponents to 0. Though yugioh hates burn and any way that deck sees play they ban another of their pieces.

Fiber jar would be fun to flip with prediction princess tho :)

Level eater can get unbanned if it’s reprinted with an errata. Red Reboot is fine if limited since there’s now tons of floodgates. Maxx C is a 50/50 since OCG and master duel gets there’s and we do not, but it’s still one of the controversial cards in the game.

It was limited before, and there were even more floodgates back then. It should never come back since it completely kills decks relying on traps like lab and traptrix

I’m part of the Pro Maxx-C faction. Most of the anti cards are already going to be run since they’re just generically good cards, and it punishes the combo-heavy players instead of letting them have free reign. Also, too many decks can just play through it anyway. Plus it’s funny if you deck out someone after they play the C.

Maxx C just shows that some heavy combo decks are bad against consistent interruptions. If you can be interrupted 15 summons down the combo and have your whole strategy bricked, that just means your deck is weak to interrupts. It doesn't mean that Maxx C is OP.

Fiber jar can be erata to be removed from play face down after flipped. Then limit all monsters to less than 1500 life points.

Summon sorc + zombie world was a very funny interaction and I miss it sorely

Level eater could probably be taken off the ban list if it could only be used for synchro summoning or smth and also usable only twice per turn maybe

limting to usage in synchros woudl be the way to go.

I think the only way for Level Eater to return is if they give it an errata where it can't be used as a Link Material.

That or just hard once per turn on recursion then it's fine. Not being once per turn is the hallmark of broken cards in yugioh in 2023 and beyond since the resource system is only cards in hand and on the field.

I remember playing a tournament and someone played Fiber Jar twice in the same duel. Frustrated, I accidentally reset my Removed cards back into the deck. Once I replayed DD Warrior Lady my opponent complained and we had to replay the whole match. He played Fiber again that duel

Level Eater was banned in OCG even before Link monster was a thing. In fact, it was banned even before Zoodiac era. Dark Synchro was one of the most dominating strategies that can essentially rip all of your cards in hand at once.

When I was a kid I played a deck I liked to call "Fiber Jar Resource Denial". Basically removing my opponent's cards from the game over and over while digging for Fiber Jar and even using Book of Taiyou to flip it up on my turn to avoid Nobleman of Crossout. The name of the game was to repeatedly refresh cards in hand and deck, while decreasing the number of good cards left to my opponent each time. By the end of the duel, the opponent would be left sitting there with cards they couldn't win with. This was effective, but it was also heinously time consuming and everyone hated the deck.

So the reason Flip monsters aren't good anymore is cuz of target destruction right? I was kind of wondering if attacking a Flip monster auto-flipped it or if that was a house rule back when I played 20 years ago. Man-Eater Bug went crazy.

You're right on that. In the video he mentions your opponent trying to attack it is a flip trigger, even if he didn't say it in those words. So yeah, you were using Man-Eater correctly. I do remember having to look up whether Penguin Soldier could target itself with its flip effect though.

@@Acatia2 The three monsters that make Gate Guardian have an effect where they can make an attacking monster's atk 0 one time, so they are indirectly battle immune... once. Hilariously, Gate Guardian doesn't have this effect. You can just bonk over it with any bigger monster.

Magical Scientist is easy to fix. Make it's effect a hard once per turn, and possibly make it to where the summmoned monster's effects are also negated.

Like how the last one had Spellbook of Judgement at number 1, and look at it now. It’s unbanned and didn’t even have an impact

10. Fiber Jar being errata'd to being a Once per Duel effect would HEAVILY nerf it, I think.

Tearlaments did not "ruin the game" lol. If anything, it's the future of the game, it's just ahead of its time. Also, Maxx C wins you the game on the spot if you have it and resolve it, while your opponent can't. It adds variance that nobody needs.

Do you play Triple Tactics over Change of Heart? If the condition for Triple matters less and less, the original effects of the singlecards, Chage of Heart - Forceful Sentry - PoG are basically powercrept ^^

I remember one time it was my turn to go first and my opponent special summoned like 7 monsters even tho it was my turn. I feel like maxx c is the perfect card to stop people from summoning like 5+ monsters every turn especially with how crazy their effects are
