Top 10 Awpers in CS History (#5-1)
Created by Austin Townley
Released: November 29, 2012
Special thanks to Josh Geha, and the countless number of people I consulted with to make this list as accurate and unbiased as possible. As with any list of this sort, there are endless opinions and variations of rankings. If your personal favorite wasn't #1, don't sweat. I welcome your constructive feedback or personal rankings, and more so truly thrive on them as those discussions are the driving force behind my videos.
** SPOILERS **
Additional notes.
#5 Cogu - Truly one of the most gifted players of all time. Unfortunately for his ranking, he's only won one major event, ESWC 2006, while failing to place in most others. I don't mean to offend Brazilian fans or players when I say this, but could you imagine this monster on any of the top teams from the last generation. Say Pentagram, SK or Fnatic? Scary.
#4 Shaguar - One of the most successful early era careers of all time, and a fan favorite due to his movies and personality. While he was at times inconsistent, his ability to perform at the latest stages of the biggest tournaments conceal the few faults in his play.
#3 Dsn - He was never as regarded as Walle or Shaguar in terms of explosiveness, yet all of a sudden we can look back on his career and find it's littered with absolutely dominating, godlike rounds and performances. While he played at the upper echelons of the Swedish scene for some time prior, he made waves with his performance against 3D at CPL Summer 2004, followed by a true breakout at CPL Winter 2004 with Begrip on his way to a 4th place finish. Perhaps the most admirable quality of Dsn is how consistent he was during so many years at the very top.
#2 fRoD - Back when Complexity went on a run of great performances between late 2004 to late 2006, almost all of them were fueled by fRoD's AWP. I can't honestly remember a game where he wasn't on point, delivering breathtaking shots and rounds. When this video began development in 2010, he was not only my choice for #1 but the consensus top pick among those I discuss these rankings with. He transitioned back to 1.6 with great success in EG after playing CS:S in CGS, and through no fault of his own slips down a spot to make room for #1.
#1 Markeloff - Over the last four years Markeloff has dominated on such an outrageous level he can safely be considered one of the ten best players in CS History. While fRod maintained the #1 position in the early stages of development for this video, over the last year it had become unanimous, between myself and every single individual I consult with, that Markeloff is the best AWPer in CS history. The ultimate combination of shotmaking ability, domination, consistency and success. Here's hoping we get to watch him play 1.6 at least once more before the game fades away entirely.

+Intuition x (Intuition809) I love cs 1.6, didnt feel source and love CS GO. playing since 1.3 . But you gotta face the truth, the old CS 1.6 is dead. servers exist but its gonna fade away someday. CS GO is the future, replaced the old CS in eSports and is followed and focused on as the official CS game. There is no way 1.6 can outlive GO. Its just how things work, I dont wanna bring you down but cant deny the truth. The memories will stay with us forever tho. CS 1.0 - 1.6 changed history and any modern day FPS wouldnt be around if it wouldnt be for games like Half-Life, CS, Doom, Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein 3D and many more. RIP
Rule #1: Don't fuck with Markeloff. Rule #2: When confronting Markeloff, Pray to god. Rule #3: Hope you don't confront Markeloff. Rule #4: If you see Markeloff, Run like Usain Bolt.

NathanHatesSteam Well he started playing for Hellraisers but the concept of practice or actually trying to improve wasn't there. In fact recently before a big tournament match he had 39 hrs played on dota and 0.1 hrs on cs go. He doesn't even try and he just pisses all the talent and raw skill he has when he could be the best on the scene. He doesn't even play an awp anymore and he is one of the 2 bottom fraggers almost always.

Psyminds22 even during later part of cs 1.6 he didn't want to use awp, starix was main awper from 2011 onwards in navi. Markeloff said something like that he doesn't want to be remembered as one dimensional player, one trick poney... He is an OK player w/o awp, can certainly play vs the best, but he lost his godlike game impact he had during 1.6 awp days...

2018! Awaping was in my blood I would own everyone back in my day still have my 5 digit account! Good old days now I’m 30 years old with a baby I recently tried playing but with new life it’s not possible I left this game behind 10-14 years back good days! Which won’t come back. The editing was amazing with the sound! Great work!
To the moviemaker: Couldn't agree more with your ranking! Finally someone who's not blind, has a great sense of reality and how these players affected the gameplay of their team, how dominant they were etc. Nicely done! Also, #20-11 is smthg like colon, foxj, pasha, karrigan, friis, spawn, luq, vilden, ksharp, cyx. :)
I remember playing with dsn.. fun times. I love the markoff highlights pairing with music.

i personally found awping in 1.6 to be significantly easier than in GO, mostly due to the fact that the center of the crosshair is clearly emphasized in 1.6. This made GO harder for me since it was basically just thin black lines that made up the crosshair.

CS 1.6: It truly was and is a great game. Then again, for me, it feels like people give it way too much nostalgia factor. ''Good old 1.6'' ''back in 1.6'' etc. CSS: Why does this even exist? CS:GO: Best CS in terms of balance, competition and overall quality. Pro-scene is so much more competitive now. While some guys dominated for 5 years in earlier CS-games, you just simply don't do that in CS:GO. That's the reason it's best CS for e-sports so far. No team in hockey or football can win all cups and trophies for 5 straight years. You can't do that anymore in CS and that's why people love it so much.
very good list, dont think anyone can disagree with it
