Absolutely agreed! Some excellent Chinese watches out there! Sea-Gull is definitely a great brand and there are a few more I'd love to showcase here soon. 🙂

Most if not all of these are original designs imo. There's a story all these watches are telling. They are not trying to be a budget replica or clomage. They are committing to their design choices doesn't matter if popular or not. Are they taking inspiration from other brands/watches? Likely yes but most if not all brands do this. It's said even the Swiss took inspiration from British and German watches back in the day! Appreciate your comment here. ✌️

What watch inspired the design of the second Sea-Gull (6075)? It sorta looks like a mixture of the hands from the NOMOS Glashütte 'Orion 33 White' (Reference 324) from 1992, mixed with the hour markers from the 'Zürich' (References 806, 801, 802) from 2009. Though some NOMOS watch designs too were inspired by 1930s Lange (pre-A. Lange & Söhne) and Stowa watches using dials designed by Weber & Baral.

@@borbetomagus great observation! I honestly don't think there's a Chinese heritage story with this one (at least I couldn't find one). As you rightly called out, Nomos is what comes to mind when you see this watch (100% design elements are borrowed). But I don't think they've made a replica of any one single watch as you pointed out. In addition to your observations, their indices on 6 is interestingly halved because of the small seconds dial (I don't think I've seen that before). Speaking of, I think their small seconds dial has some sunburst effect (mines in the mail so can only confirm once I see it). Altogether I think a quality Seagull watch for under $100 is a steal!
