+Mormaxim TheKingslayer I think the anime definition of pirate doesn't conform with traditional 'pirate' of robbing and sinking ships. If you follow the story line Luffy and his crew are definitely not bad guys. It's the conscience and morality that coincide with modern understanding of being good such as friendship and sympathy. I don't think 'Heroes' by this list are exclusively for characters fighting against traditional injustice. In One Piece universe, he could be a hero who saves multiple islands from corrupted Marine and other 'bad' pirates, while consider his career as a pirate.

Goku allows planets to be destroyed for the sake of a good fight, takes abandonment to a new level where he chose to die in order to train rather than raise his son and be with his wife, and goes so far as to allow villains who have slaughtered billions of people to live for the sake of compassion. Goku being number one...? Seriously...? Goku is the single most overrated anime hero as he can't die, and he barely even takes any damage at all. Mustang only appeared as a Lieutenant Colonel in the first anime (otherwise known as FMA 2003), prior to his promotion to Colonel in a later episode. In Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, he already held the rank of Colonel at the time of his introduction.

I personally can't stand to watch dubbed anime. I think the original voices sound better, and the actors (in my opinion) do a better job. Not to mention that watching subbed anime gives me way more options, and I don't have to wait forever like dub watchers... (And for the people who didn't watch Free! in Japanese won't get the excitement of hearing Tatsuhisa Suzuki voice Makoto AND sing the OPs. That was true bliss for me.) Another unpopular opinion: I think the Dragon Ball series sucks. I've just always hated it because I don't like the art style, and I don't much care about the premise. Again, this is just my opinion.

I agree with all of your statements as well except for the only liking original subbed part. Some animes are still good dubbed, but anime like Madoka Magica, One Piece, and even Hetalia are best subbed. Although, Hetalia also has good dub :) And I've also never watch Dragon Ball Z. Never looked interesting to me.

As amazing as Goku is i think Vegeta should've been on the list also. Goku was raised by a loving grandfather who taught him to do the right thing. Vegeta was raised pretty much opposite and yet still turned out to be the badass we all know and love. Give the guy some credit for turning it all around.

Goku truly is the definition of a hero in anime. He cares for all living things he never fights to kill or for revenge but to test his limit and go past them and to defend others and is willing to sacrifice his life for defending the things he cares about and just so much other stuff i can't even remember off hand.

God-Emperor of Mankind What fight are you refering to? If with cell then no cell woudln't have destroyed the entire universe hhis power wasn't strong enough to destroy something that large. He'd be lucky to get around the galaxy and goku knew this and i never claimed he was the smartest of people but thats not what defines a hero. Where as with Majinn Buu (Kid form) he didn't care about a fair fight he knew what was really at stake he knew how dangerous he was and wasn't gonna hold any punches.

God-Emperor of Mankind Yes and no he was holding back against teh first stage of buu but thats only becuase he knew he could finish him off if it came down to it in other world as he previously stated when it got to super buu or kidd buu stage i forget which one. however durring hte kidd buu fight where it was an actual problem to the galaxy no he didn't hold back he knew vegeta in his regular form super sayian 1 and 2 form couldn't compete with kidd buu they both knew it and there was no reason for vegeta to die needlessly if goku could still fight because if he had died again he would have been gone for good.

You missed a lot of heroes

Edward Elric should have been number 1. The fact that his entire journey is selfless, purely done to get his brother's back his body, which he accomplishes in both versions of the Anime with a huge loss to himself, is truly inspiring. While he never set out to solve other peoples problems, he always does, and often in an ingenious way. He also turns down any option involving the philosophers stone, even though he gets the chance to use it, purely because of the way it's made. Even when one is already made, even though those lives have already been put in to the stone, he refuses on principle. No other character in this list comes close to him. Especially not Goku, who is not only a poor father, but a terrible husband too.

Yeah, Goku is a terrible family man, but so are Vegeta, I guess it's in their nature. Altough I would argue that Goku is extremely pure. He's even more innocent than Edward Elric, so mcuh he is able to turn many villains into allies all tough the series. (Yamcha, Tien Shinhan, Piccolo, Vegeta) He's also a good homeman when he's home, thing is he's mostly not, I guess he doesn't see any reason for it. (And the end of DBZ is jsut total bullshit anyway, he could go home anytime while still training Uub)

***** They did say they were gonna "stick with the classics" but who cares, there are a lot of great modern anime heroes who are so much better than someone like Inuyasha or Goku. Edward definitely is a great and selfless person. Even if he isn't real. Or maybe I'm just being a weeaboo....I'm listening to Fullmetal Alchemist's first opening theme as I type this (hey, it's a great song =3=)

***** I'm inclined to agree with your opinion. The original FMA Anime is by far the best I've watched so far. Though FMA: Brotherhood does have some interesting story plots and characters, it's just nearly as well thought out. Limrasson That is true, but Naruto allows a lot of his enemies to see the good in themselves. So really, he would be above Goku too. Pokemonster678 Are you being sarcastic here? Each and every one of these Anime characters save the world. Goku is just a simple minded meat bag. He lacks any advanced intelligence and is a poor, poor Father. The worst was giving Cell a sensu bean just before Gohan fought him. I mean, come on? What kind of (smart) person cares about a fair fight when you're saving the world? Especially when you're telling your son to risk his life. In fact, he's the only character on the list who purposely puts others in danger. It's not as if he only does it the once either.

As much as I DO love Goku... I gotta say that Ichiro Inuyashiki is my all time fave.

Notable Mention: Natsu Dragneel (Fairy Tail) A loyal member of the Fairy Tail guild, Natsu is determined to never let any of his comrades down. He'll risk his own life for the sake of others without a second's hesitation, even if they are not members of his guild. He's even ready to go to war against a dragon army just to prove it.

I get so excited when watchmojo releases anime lists, but then I remember that they just compile the most mainstream anime they can find and top it off with DBZ every time.

spongebob is my childhood hero. he's been protecting a recipe from plankton which could destroy our seas with all his might, i think he deserves a spot besides its the best anime ever.

Funnily enough, I was kind of hoping and expecting to see Launch on the Gunslingers countdown as at least an honorable mention. Girl can pull a machine from practically out of nowhere. Not to mention, I love how her split personality works and just how drastic it really is.

Personally I think Roy deserved a higher spot. Certainly higher than Ed. (Yeah yeah, Ed dealt the final killing blow on Father, it doesn't matter, Ed would have been dead if it wasn't for a certain Roy Mustang saving his life whilst blind.)

Silphaer We aren’t talking about strength but as hero in general. Roy Mustang is definitely my favourite character but we still have to accept the fact that he has committed atrocities by killing ishvalens in the war an so on. Where as Edward always stayed righteous by not killing anyone throughout the show

Nihilism55 Yea, how the hell did Ichigo manage to make the list, let alone such a high rank? Bleach started to suck at the bantu vampire crap season. What we should have saw here was Gon from Hunter X Hunter, Yusei Fudu from YuGiOh 5ds (cause saving the world by playing a card game on a motorcycle takes some serious skills), and L from Death Note (though as a Kira fan, L does a fantastic job pin pointing the location of Kira in such a short amount of time).

jackelboy First, the bantu thing was a filler arc which wasn't real canon and wasn't even really needed, filler arcs are all kinds of stupid and not giving a series a chance based on a filler arc in even more stupid. Second, as much as I'd love to agree with you on the whole Gon from HunterxHunter thing, he really hasn't done enough to warrant a spot on the list; I mean he's awesome and everything but he just hasn't had enough opportunities to shine. Third, I'd rank yusei fudou as a hard 11 on this list; he's a good character and everything but there's so much better. Fourth, I completely agree agree with your statement about L; he's one of the best heroes I've ever seen in an anime and I should've easily been in the top 5.

And of course, it would have been controversial if those DIDN'T make number one. It goes without saying, Dragon Ball Z is the greatest anime of all time. Don't call yourself an anime fan if you haven't seen it in its entirety.

The Kaioken Titan I think DBZ is amazing while I enjoy Hunter x Hunter 2011 fight scenes over DBZ but Attack on Titan is not overrated i look at animes based on decades while Yu Yu n DBZ were kings in the early 90s One Piece n Naruto took over after that n now its time for Magi, Attack On Titan n many other animes to take over. I dont call any anime over rated because just because u dont like it or see value in it doesnt mean nothing its your on opinion.....also AoT is one of the most popular animes n the world right no n has good animation n story telling so it is far from overrated

Er, DBZ is iconic. Iconic doesn't mean great eg., The Titanic. The Titanic is an iconic movie, one where millions have watched. It not great, though, if you look at it logically. DBZ is an iconic show, one where millions have watched it. It's not great, though, if you look at it logically. It's plot is formulaic; just a bunch of fights. They may be epic fights. However, it's just that: fights. A great anime is Steins;Gate. Story, characters, plot twists executed perfectly, and it's not repetitive.

Before even watching, I'm just going to assume Goku is #1. WatchMojo loves Dragonball Z on their Anime Lists.

I love how sometimes you guys do 1 title/character per franchise, but that doesn't count for FMA. Still, I give you props for putting Sailor Moon on the list. A lot of people see her as a whiny brat, but she is a hero to me. And... Your #1 pick was perfect. From your previous videos, I expected FMA to be #1, but at least with this list, you got it right! Goku is the greatest Anime Hero!

It's neither best Heroes/Characters, nor are they the embodiment of goods (e.g. Spike he isn't like a hero whose only purpose is to save all people he's just doing his job) The only possible title for this list would be, Top 10 Characters from the only 10 animes we know.

goku is the japanese version of superman, superman is the embodiment of everything that is good and righteous same goes for goku who have saved countess of lives throughout the universe and even going as far as giving their lives to save not only the people they care about but the whole universe, now they man not be the best characters but i'd be damn if they are not the best heroes.

Goku is really hard to fight against, but yeah not invincible. Hell a heart virus kills him in future trunks' timeline something that superman would not be affected by as he is indestructible under normal circumstances. Goku might not be as smart as several of his opponents in dbz, but he is a hero where it counts. The conviction to die for others is a powerful thing and shows his compassion. I personally don't like him as much as other anime characters, but he deserves respect as a great and noble hero.

I will actually like these videos if there is anyone from inuyasha in it. I'm so happy to see inuyasha make the list! 😍😍😍

Liam BB He literally breaks prisoners out of jail, and opposes the marines and world government. He is essentially a terrorist in many ways. He is the protagonist of the story so we see it through his perspective, just because his actions are deemed heroic by some by others it is the total opposite. He isn't a hero, he literally does whatever he wants to fulfill his own whims. He isn't heroic, he is a pirate so don't confuse the two.

He has saved countries from turmoil, defeated crooked politians like Croc, freed the shadows of others by defeating Moriah, released an island from tyranny at Arlong Park, prevented the return of a selfish ruthless king at Drum Kingdom saved Fishman island from being destroyed Its all out of his hatred for people who do other people harm... He is a hero

Luffy is not a hero, we all look at him as one for all the kicking butts he does to people he dont like. but he is a pirate he does what he wants when he wants. regardless of any one including his crew. or no body remember when he almost kill usopp? Hecubusx The world governments corruption is unreal. Look at Akainu, He has the second highest position in the world government and he's a villian. I'll admit the jail-break is extremly questionable, but his criminal actions are completely eclipsed by his heroic actions. If he was a pirate in the way you are portraying him, he would've just ranscked places like drum island for loot. Luffy is a good person and he is always driven to act out his high morales.The very reason he started the war with the world government (totally badass) was to save a crew member. He caused the prison break to save his brother. He wants to be a pirate for the life of freedom and adventure. He may not be a hero in the most typical sene, but he is a hero nevertheless.
