Morgan Freeman went from being a star of a kids show in 70s to now being a serious documentary narrator and award winning actor in adult films

Kudos to these actors for peeserving at their dreams, showing that age isn't a limit to success. Morgan Freeman and Viola Davis would probably be my favourite examples.

Alan Rickman and Morgan Freeman are film legends. Pretty cool that they got their big breaks at 42 and 50 respectively.

Great list! Absolutely love Morgan Freeman and Samuel L. Jackson. Patrick Stewart surprised me. I honestly thought he'd been acting since he was much younger. Thank you😊

He has, you're right & MsMojo is wrong. :-). MsMojo are lazy when checking their facts, if they even bother to do so. He's spent all his life acting, apart from when he started out, for a couple of years. Then he had to have another job to fit around his acting. (He was a reporter then worked in a shop.) Since then he's lived off his acting career. He started with The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), one of the world's most prestigious theatre companies, in 1966. He became huge in UK theatre after winning a Laurence Olivier Award in 1979. His first TV appearance was in 1967 on Coronation Street, a UK soap which is the oldest continuous soap in the world. It's run continuously since its debut in December 1960. Other famous actors who have been on it are Ian McKellen, Ben Kingsley, Joan Collins & even Charles III has had a cameo. One of the biggest series on British TV in the mid 70s was I, Cladius, an adaptation of Robert Graves' novels I, Claudius & Claudius the God. Derek Jacobi was the main character, Claudius, but other world-renowned actors involved were Brian Blessed (as Augustus), John Hurt (Caligula), Kevin McNally (Castor), John Rhys-Davies (Naevius Sutorius Macro) & Patrick Stewart (Sejanus). It was a who's who of British theatre & TV, but the ones I've mentioned have been in international film franchises, such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones & Lord of the Rings. The problem with this channel is they forget that the US isn't the only country in the world. When talking about music their videos about 1-hit wonders feature artists who have been huge in other parts of the world for decades. In this, they've basically said an actor who not only worked in theatre since his early 20s but has also won one of the most prestigious award in British theatre, only became famous with Star Trek. No, he didn't, he's been famous over here since the 60s. It's understandable that he was famous here first, he IS British. It's the same with people like Ian McKellen, Derek Jacobi, John Hurt, Daniel Day-Lewis. I remember seeing the latter in the mid 80s when the RSC was touring English schools, covering Shakespeare plays that were on the exam curriculum, Romeo & Juliet & a Midsummer Night's Dream. I saw the former as that was what I was studying. He must have been in his mid-to-late 20s then. He was in a number of quality British films in the 80s, 3 of which are in the British Film Institute's list of greatest British films of the 20th century. This was long before he started working in the US. Danile Day-Lewis, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tim Roth & Rupert Everett were contemporaries, & were given the nickname the Brit Pack.

Steve Carrel gained HUGE fame as a ‘correspondent’ On The Daily Show then he landed starring roles in major moves and the The Office. I adored Kathy Bates since Misery. When she appeared in American Horror Story, The Office or Six Feet Under on TV I was the thrilled. Great list of ‘late bloomers’

Heart is bursting with joy currently! These extraordinary actors found fame mainly in their 40's and beyond and am so inspired!! - I have been training as an operatic tenor for nearly a decade and now in my late 40's I have faith success must come to fruition. This is just what I was needing to watch to bring my mojo back!! Thanks heaps Watch Mojo!!!! 🙏🧡

you seem to think that 'make it big' means that you yourself have heard of them; Lucille Ball was getting movie leads in the '40s and working on screen in the '30s; Rickman and Stewart were famous mostly in theatre. You could try Edith Evans: First film in her 60s, but she was already a Dame.
