TooManyVariables (Italians) vs Juan22Z (Turks) -- AoE2: DE
I've decided that I'll play Italians on Water maps. They're a nice Archer/Naval civ. Which, most other water civs aren't archer civs, so they're my top choice.
Speaking of, naval civ balancing is really strange. Like they're balanced to be viable on Arabia, but then there's also a bunch of perks on water maps. So you have to pick a naval civ if you're playing a water map. Turks just isn't a good choice. Nor would Mayans be on this map. Italians let me Grush really nicely with their cheap upgrade.
Also, I saw Turks and considered that maybe my opponent is an Arena player. Likely he's got Arabia banned and I have Arena banned, meaning we both get a map that isn't listed as our favorites. Sure enough, this guy primarily plays Arena. www.aoe2insights.com/user/958...

I would give up the water at some point and focus on land if im playing the Turks, but yeah great game with the Italians I hate water maps, i just can't get my head to multitask, try including some fire ships next time, it is almost like having skirms for archers :D
Good game. Which civ you liking more now? Unsure why he didn’t put up much of a fight there
