No need to apologize! Not a darn thing wrong with a man that likes thecbest. I was blessed in my life that I was blessed that I could afford to buy snap on tools. They really are the best hand tools out there. My humble opinion. I'd say 90 to 95 percent of my tools are snap on. Like you I tell people to buy the best you can afford. I feel the tool snobs arebte ones that can afford snap on and then the hate comes. Well enjoyed the vid. Take care and be safe!

I used to have a lot of tool truck brands before I sold them, its definitely a preference but they are the best quality to date. I like that you have a set of every style wrench because they all have a purpose , love the Offset wrenches. Nice set up dude. Look forward to more content

I remember when the tool trucks only had those special tools. We had two trucks Snap-on and Mac that was it. I bought stuff I couldn’t find elsewhere from truck. Today you can go online and find stuff that’s just rebranded much cheaper. Some will buy of the truck because of warranty and they have a relationship with the truck dealer. I think it’s best for the young tech to start with more affordable tools and then as the years pass do as they see fit. It’s your money and your Choice and I see many of the techs doing videos doing the right thing when trying to help the new techs. Thanks for sharing.

Well, to say your colllection is comprehensive is a bit of an understatement lol. But looks like it's all necessary. I had to use my tap and die set last week to get a seized bolt out of the underside of my Toro lawn mower aluminum deck. That process is really a bit of an art form - needs a lot of finesse. I did OK at first, but couldn't loosen the bolt and got carried away with my drilling. I should have walked away from it for a day to let it soak and loose some of my intensity, but I wanted it done "right now". So, I'm going to have to utilize another type of fastener. Not sure how the result will be. Lesson learned. Great collection, I enjoyed your vid.

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate that feedback. Patience is key when working with stuck bolts and having to rethread them etc. Been there many times myself.

My 8mm bolt biter socket is used abused and reused again lol. Great tool to get out of a sticky spot. Works on studs and bolts

I like the paper manuals as well. There are some pit falls of paper manuals. One you can’t zoom in to read stuff which I think is the biggest plus and searching is usually easier on a computer. Pit falls fighting with getting computer to work right crashes all the good stuff you know like loss of internet or power manuals aren’t effected by that. I am older maybe that’s why I like the print manuals.

Yeah, I agree. Pros and cons to both. I’m still fairly young, and I like the paper manuals. Something about being able to hold them and have them at your bench and getting them greasy while your working.

Thanks! You may get some of that here, but I have noticed that everyone has a different style, and everyone has a different way of doing things. While I agree, I get bored watching the same thing over and over, I do still learn something almost every time by watching someone new doing it.

I too work on a variety of stuff, my job as fleet mechanic means I do chainsaws all the way up to 18 wheelers lol makes for an expensive tool bill! Lol

Thank you!! Those are actually from Mac. I liked them because they come in long and short, straight and 45 degree. I have some smaller ones you can get from Oregon as well.

I think I'll post a note with both of these sayings on the inside of my old Kennedy machinist tool box. I've not heard it said better lol.

Snap-On = lifetime guarantee They pay for themselves and should be in every professionals toolbox. They dont make you a better mechanic but that big upfront cost pays for itself if you plan on doing this long term also resale market is crazy.

Maybe it's me but the tools look like they never saw a days work .i clean my tools after a job but there are Always a smudge or something left behind That's the clearest tool set up I've ever seen. Just sayin no offence

None taken. Some tools get used a lot more than others, but everything gets wiped down with tub o towels and then dried off with a blue shop towel after every job. I’m kind of OCD about my stuff.

Where are the tools you work with the scratched dirty ones you have any?

I do like them for certain applications. I got mine from my Matco guy, but they are pretty good for the most part. For their size they have held everything I have needed to put in them. Nice for scratch able surfaces, and to close them and hang them up when finished.

I’m curious what do you use for your technical information. Computer , manuals, internet, subscription?

All of the above. I use a computer with downloaded files from my distributors, online manuals, internet files, and believe it or not, I still like to use paper manuals.

They are Snap On roll carts. The part number for these particular ones are the KRSC46. They are great roll carts for what they are. They are big and hold a lot of tools. They have a slide top that I would have liked better, if I had the room to slide the top open, just so I had a top to store stuff on, but these work out great for the space I have.

I have had great tools made by companies in USA and i have had bad tools. Many time the same tool fit great and then bought same tool again that turned out not be worth the metal it was made with. Same with chines or japanese tools. If quality control is not checking every batch, bad tools can make it to market. This is why a good warranty is a requirement for peace of mind. Good tools in the hands of an experienced mechanic makes money. Experience can only take you so far without good tools. Tools are with the investment.

I buy cheap tools. if I use it enough that it breaks I will get a good brand to replace it. I'll never buy cheap sockets though. Just a headache strip your bolts and the socket in one go. Won't use cheap drivers either too many stripped screw heads in my time.

That’s a good rule of thumb. If you just need something for one job, or something you rarely use you can get buy just going the cheapest route. Items you use daily you will probably save money in the long run spending a little money up front. I always say buy nice or buy thrice. Ha

I like Matco and have a lot of their tools. If you don't have a shop and don't have a tool truck come by I would personally research a tool you see from them and purchase it elsewhere for cheaper. Most of their tools are rebrands and you can find it cheaper elsewhere. That being said the convenience of a tool truck coming by the shop, lifetime warranty, supporting the local business man, etc etc is valuable, so if that is the case buying off the truck is perfectly acceptable. Just my (sometimes unpopular) opinion.

@@kbssmallenginerepair2615 I'm strictly shade tree. But I've wondered if mechanics that buy off the truck get any sort of discount. As much as I would love a box full of Snap-on, it would be really impractical for me. Craftsman has always been a decent "go-to" for me. But, they're gone now and I've been burned too many times by Stanley and the stuff from the local discount tool store. That stuff is way too inexpensive for me to be able to afford it. Have you ever thought of creating a video on different tool sources for the different types of workers? Your video above would just about cover the full-fledged mechanic, shade trees might be in the middle, then the Stanley workers might be on the entry level. Or you might have other ideas...

Great question Jeff. Buying off the truck (vs. snapon.com etc.) does have its perks. I rarely pay retail price on anything. Each dealer has the ability to run promos and give discounts etc. Everybody has a personal preference on tools. I know auto mechanics who use Harbor Freight tools, and I know DIY'ers who use Snap-on. It all comes down to your preference and what you can afford. I say, buy the best tool you can afford, for the job. If you purchase the cheapest option, but spend a lot of time driving back and forth to the store either exchanging it under warranty, or having to purchase a new one, are you really saving money? There are several great options out there that are not tool truck brands. Gearwrench, Sunex, SK tools, just to name a few. Some of those you can find on amazon or other online retailers. Most also come with a lifetime warranty and are really great quality tools for much cheaper. You can find great deals on ebay for brand new tools, or even lightly used tools at great discounts. I would also recommend looking at Jersey Discount Tool Company. They have great quality tools at killer prices. Follow them on facebook for promos, or they have an app (jdtco)

When I buy a tool truck tool I only feel guilty for the first two days after, after that it is pure enjoyment, unless it was a pure impulse buy then I only feel guilty for the first 2 days after I return or sell it off.

Most all of this stuff looks brand new and unused... either you work on the cleanest vehicles in the cleanest shop on the planet, or you just took out a mad loan and bought everything... I can't tell, either way this has got to be the cleanest setup in existence like a nasa clean room.! If I saw this in person I would assume this setup is more about collecting tools than it is about working on vehicles/engines
