@@isopropyltoxicity you're a fucking moron. Maynard is an amazing vocalist with great range and a diverse sound. Carey is one of the greatest drummers ever. Chancellor and Jones are on another level when it comes to composing. I despise people that think top-tier is only for technically sound guitar shredders. Those guys often can't create an emotional connection with their audience. Enter Chancellor and Jones, who achieve this better than most. Composition and creativity is everything, and theirs is TOP-TIER.

So much this. I hate to use that but it's true. I was in love with Pneuma and Fear Inoculum for a long time. Didn't really get Descending or Invincible at all. This is my favorite song from Fear Inoculum. What a trip. Danny drumming in the slowly growing instrumental section towards the end is so incredibly creative, the endless motion of accents is mindblowing. I play drums for over 25 years but this is another world for me. It took me some time to understand what he's doing there. This is a masterpiece.

Tool's was the first live concert I have ever gone to as an adult (I was 33) and I must say - it set the bar really damn high. it was June 2019 and they played two songs from the album before it was released. One was Invincible, the other was this one here. It was so good, that to this day I can't really remember much from that moment, other than it felt like I have been hypnotized and was just sitting there tripping balls with my jaw dropped the entire song. The only thing I'm sure of is that I heard Justin's riff and nothing made sense anymore.

I resonate with your reaction. I’ve been a Tool fan since 1993 and I am used to the “experience” of their songs- turn the lights off and POOF, disappear into theater of the mind. But Descending totally transcends even those experiences. It’s like they cracked the code to every aspect of mental stimulation with this recording. If you close your eyes to this song, you will transcend mind and body and exists only in the ether. Once I saw you close your eyes I thought to myself “Oh, he’s gone, but now he gets it”.

Fear Inoculum album is the pinnacle of their work in my opinion and don't get me wrong I love Lateralus, 10,000 days and Aenema. But what they've achieved with this album is beyond phenomenal. Each song is a pure journey per se. Descending is a transcendance by definition and it holds a special place in my heart. At 10:57, this is the climax that never ends to give me goosebumps. I would recommend listening to it again multiple times (this applies for the other TOOL songs as well) to fully grasp the magic and musicianship around it. Keep going with TOOL reactions we love it !

If you want a laugh - you noticed the relative lack of Maynard’s vocals in the latter part of the song - there are a series of videos on YT of Maynard setting up goofy things right behind Danny’s drum set, like a Jenga tower, and then when Danny smashes the big gong behind him Maynard does a great “Nooooo, whyyyyyyy?!? *sob*” They are all from the current concert tour. I remember the first time hearing Tool back in the 90's in my homie's parent's basement trippin my face off and INSTANTLY realizing that, even though hip-hop/rap was me, 100% ME, that there was something ELSE, another genre, another SOUND, that gave me the VIBES, that stirred an EMOTION within me on that same level and beyond.... and that sound was TOOL! Stoked you are enjoying their newest material so much. I've been a fan of Tool since about '95 and I love every album, but I think the newest one is underrated! You seem to get high on the exact same elements that get me. This song is essentially orgasmic live. See them live if you can. Hopefully they tour again soon. I've seen them 3 times in the past few years. Worth every penny.

When Danny hits the gong at the 11:15 mark it's like the sky just burst open and chaos is unleashed on the earth. The song just hits God mode and never looks back until everything's annihilated.... Then it all washes away... Epic af

I love watching people's reactions to tool because I fell in love with them when I was like 15. We're going on 20 years later and seeing great reactions and breakdowns like this really take me back and help me reconnect with what made me fall in love with tool in the first place. They're all these little things that I take for granted now because I'm just so used to them being a part of tools music...

Great song! I don’t know if you’ve seen any requests for ‘The Grudge’ yet but I think you’ll really appreciate that one. Maynard scream is pretty impressive. To be transparent, I’ve watched a few of your reactions of Tool in the last hour. I love it when someone knows what they’re talking about and they really dive right in. There are so many more for you to experience! Keep it up, they change peoples lives. 🤘🏼

The water/waves intro and outro always remind me of the beach scenes in Inception. Specifically Inception....not just any old beach. Perhaps because of the themes and subject matter of that film. Also, at 11:20 (of this video) in the song, I always visualise descending in a downward spiral/whirlpool like the one on the album cover

You don't need to put it into words bro - your reaction is clear :) this is my favorite (Tool) reaction of yours that I have seen (as an aside I think you should go back and listen to Undertow a few more times) - I saw many faces of you that have not displayed before, and that makes me smile, because this song... this song... is one of the best ever written/performed/recorded/conceived/produced/etc I look forward to you listening to Invincible :)

One more thing. The moment MJK stops singing in this one, divides entire album exactly on half. I certainly recommend video on KZread titled "Secrets of TooL's "Fear Inoculum". It has 3 or 4 parts and is freaking mind-blowing. After watching it, it's easier to realise why actually it took them 13 years to this one since "10 000 Days". They're an absolute geniuses, each in their own craft. Together they make a band that in my humble opinion are the genre by themselves when it comes to music. They're simply life-changing. Bless "...Spiral Out!! Keep Going!!..." 🌀🤘🌀🤘🌀

Found you thanks to Drum Cam reaction. Am currently 3 or so into your TOOL reactions, will be binging until I get thru them all. My recommendations echo some I’ve seen in your comments, and one I’ve only seen the album mentioned for. 1. - I saw you have done 46 & 2 already, so that one is ticked from my list. Will likely go watch it next, to see your take on its message. 2. - Right In Two - A powerful point-of-view piece about modern humanity. 3. - Wings for Marie / 10,000 Days (Wings part 2)
