Lyrics:
Free fall through our midnight
This epilogue of our own fable
Heedless in our slumber
Floating nescient we
Free fall through this boundlessness
This madness
Of our own making
Falling isn't flying
Floating isn't infinite
Come, our end, suddenly
All hail our lethargy
Concede suddenly
To the quickened dissolution
Pray we mitigate the ruin
Calling all to arms and order
Drifting through this boundlessness
This madness of our own making
Sound our dire reveille
Rouse all from our apathy
Lest we
Cease to be
Stir us from our
Wanton slumber
Mitigate our ruin
Call us all to arms and order
Sound the dread alarm
Through our primal body
Sound the reveille
To be or not to be
Rise
Stay the grand finale
Stay the reading of our swan song and epilogue
One drive to stay alive
It's elementary
Muster every fiber
Mobilize
Stay alive
Stir us from our
Wanton slumber
Mitigate our ruin
Call us all to arms and order

This album helped me find strength. It really did. Depression sucks, suicidal thoughts suck, but whathever happens I will NOT die on my knees. I will fight this battle for as long as I can, I will be brave and I will not surrender. I will not give up, because that's the path I've chosen and my fear will not lead me astray.

No truer words spoken, Brother/sister. It's an on going battle. It's okay to get tired and take a rest. But there comes a time when you have to dig yourself out of the hell you're in, and scream violently defiant, and tell all of it that you will NOT BACK DOWN. You REFUSE to accept the shit surrounding you. Get the fuck up, Dust yourself off. If you need to break shit that no longer serves you, then just fucking do it. Get mad. Break those god damned chains. Spread those scorched wings, and keep screaming, until your focused. By then, you'll have the attention and fear you need. Now breathe again. Fight your ass off. You got this, my dude.

Not to be this guy.. but I disagree. This album as a hole cannot be listened to seamlessly like, lateralus, undertow, or 10,000 fists. If you listen to this album from start to finish it doesn't have the continuity that their previous albums have. If your ears like that, that's fine, but mine don't and I miss that. This is just my opinion.

I am a huge fan of King Crimson's "Discipline" album, and to me "Fear Inoculum" is the modern-day "Discipline". Tool has always took KC's blueprint of repetitive, hypnotic, math-rock riffs from that record and adapted/expanded it to their modern sound, but "Fear Inoculum" just takes it to another level. What a time to be alive as a fan of music.

I was very much pleased with fear inoculum, great album, but as far as their "best" song, their coup de grace, Tool's magnum opus, for me it's ALWAYS gonna be the 3-part "disposition/reflection/triad" off the album lateralus.... I know some agree with me, some say I'm full of shit 😂 but for me personally, THAT'S the best thing tool ever produced. I know many feel that wings for Marie/10,000 days was them at their best, their finest hour. And yeah good god those lyrics, such a profound and moving tribute and dedication to Maynard's mother.. I'll always insist that "disposition/reflection/triad" has the top spot in the tool catalog!

This is slowly but surely becoming my absolute favourite TOOL song. It's epic and majestic beyond words, its grandiosity can't be overstated. No, it's not "heavy" or crazy in any way, because it doesn't need to be. It's telling a story about survival, about going to the depths of the abyss to confront our demons. "Mobilize, stay alive!". It's a deep, primal, and fundamental story about our very existence. The instrumental buildup towards the epic end is unlike anything I've ever heard in my life.

So many chills from this song, that I feel I’m starting an ice age. The feeling I get listening to this is so immense and beautiful. 10:54 is like a monument of sound, a materializing in the sky, a supernova. The progression before it is like an evolution through the universe and just culminates so unbelievably well. I feel as though Maynard is reading from distant scriptures and ancient times, almost pleading for the entire human race to hear this message. He has such a way of making you actually feel the words he’s singing. It transcends just simply hearing. I’ve never really found this with anyone else. I feel TOOL has been at a prophetic level with this album and is ringing more true as the days go by. It heightens my awareness of the world, but at the same time just takes me away. Forever grateful for this music and chance to be alive.

Idk what it is about Fear Innoculum, but it brings me to tears every time I listen to this album (especially this song). It's like Tool tapped into some spiritual force when recording this album, no other band evokes these kinds of emotions in me. Tool is a very special band, others can try to imitate Tool, but Tool is truly a one of a kind band.

The meaning behind the songs of Fear Inoculum is returning to the fundamentals of existence. No propaganda, no fear mongering, no brainwashing. Just primal symmetry, pure existence, and the joy of the spirit.

Opiate came out when I was 18. Saw Tool live for the first time in 1994. Have seen them 7 times since. My entire adulthood has included Tool. They are like the soundtrack to my life. The 13 year lull between albums was tough, but this album was so worth the wait. Ænima is my favorite album, but each record is so awesome in it's own way. The new one sounds so mature. Haunting. It's perfect.

Man, where to begin? I had a really close friend introduce me to Tool when i was in High School. It was 1994 and we were on a bus trip to Galveston Tx for a field trip. He was a drummer, so naturally his drum teacher introduced him, cause Danny Carey is the TRUTH. Anyway, as I got older, the albums Tool released have always fit my life, and what the overarching dilemma is in my life at the time. I've listened to every album countless times in my travels for work. For years i worked 3.5 hrs away from home, but i would drive home on my days off so i speant plenty of nights driving down a long and lonsome interstate, but i always had Tool to keep me company. This album released in August of 2019 and in November of 2019 we took my mom to the ER. Turned out that the uncomfortable/bloated feeling in her stomach was a tumor that was too large to cut out, and had progressed too far to treat. Now i've watched my mother face down and beat the worst that life can throw at a mother. It started almost 30 years earlier when my brother died at the age of 15. I was 10 at the time, and all i can remember is the pain in her eyes from that night on, but she grit her teeth and pushed on for my sake, and the sake of my father who really blamed himself. He wanted to tell my brother that he had to stay home that night, but couldn't think of a good reason so he let him go. My brother left the house without his inhaler. He went to his girlfriend's house and ended up coming in contact with seafood, that sent him into anaphylaxis which overcame him less than 2 miles from home. There have been a multitude of shitty situations since that i watched as she handled them with Grace. So much so that she's been my Hero since i turned 25 and actually hit the age of reason. Anyway, from diagnosis to death was only 12 days, but it seemed like an eternity at the time. For those that have had the fortune to not have spent time with someone dying of cancer, let me just tell you that its a SHITSHOW of epic proportions. To hear my mom scream in agony, and beg God to take her was, well im sure you can imagine. As with all good moms she always put us first, so much so that this tumor managed to get so big that there was nothing they could do, before being noticed. How could she not know you ask? Well about 10 years earlier she had a lap band put in to help control her weight, so she always attributed her stomach issues to that. Anyway, didnt mean to get off subject, but it provides the background to why this song is so significant to me. As i spent nights at the hospital with her, and only after they hit her with another dose of Morphine, there were 20-30 minute periods of piece, and in these moments i listened to this album. This song was the last song I really took the time to analiyse because i had a preconcieved notion of how it was going to go, because of the sneak peaks they released of this song, prior to the album. Little did i know that I would have so much to relate to. I feel like Maynard was sitting in a hospital somewhere going through the same experience while writing this song. Thats the beauty of Tool though isn't it? You can use their music to help get through almost anything cause it can relate on sooo many levels. I'm not sure if I would have made it through without them. Wings for Marie has always been the song that I use to honor my mother. "Set as i am in my ways and my arrogance, burden of proof tossed upon the believers. You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence. Judith Marie, Unconditional One" Will forever define our relationship, but Descending tells the story of her ending infinitly better than i ever could
