to be clear, the baddie icon for targeting is only used IF there are 2 equi-distant targets. In otgher words if there are 2 gearlocs (or companions if using ghillie or tink) the baddie targets the one based on that targeting (strong or weak) if its a melee baddie. A ranged baddie can target any enemy on the board and uses the distinction to choose its target. This mechanic is useful tactically as you move baddies as you can create some buffer between you and a hard hitter with how you move the baddies about to buy an extra turn to try and roll some damage or maybe bulk up your defense.

Thank you for the video! I've been considering this game for a while (first heard about it on another of your videos), and watching your set-up and playthrough has given me enough of an idea of how it would play to cement my decision to buy. :) As a parent of young kids, my gaming interests are unfortunately mostly solo so I have found your videos very instructive and helpful in figuring out how games play and if I'd enjoy them (BEFORE buying them).

The stat building and talent building, all with dice, seems like a really cool feature.

I agree with you! The replay ability here seems very high as you can build a Gearloc differently each play or just use a different Gearloc to open up a whole bunch of other options as all the Gearloc's are very unique.

Great videos. Keep it up! Just 1 small note: you're over-explaining some things now and then. It's good to get to the point sometimes.

Thanks Joost! At the start I tend to explain a bit more and then pull back as the playthrough goes on and the viewers understand the game better. You may be one that picks up the game a bit quicker which is great! :)

@@RollingSolo To be honest I watch those because of this "overexplaining". I got the feel of the game better and memorize instruction better because of it. I just ordered my copy of the game today thanks to this video!

@@theZaklinac This one takes a bit to grasp the rules so re-explaining certainly has its benefits!

While it's true that this is a "playthrough" video, it's MUCH more a tutorial video! You spend far more time teaching than you do playing. Which is ALL GOOD! So the point is that you should consider changing the title of the video to reflect that. Because when I'm looking to learn a new gsme, I seek out the tutorial videos over the playthrough videos, as most playthroughs are full of errors. Whereas a tutorial is expected to be more instructional and error free. Then AFTER I know a game, I watch the playthrough videos which is why I'm watching yours now! I only wish I had watched this video while I was learning the game because it's REALLY good at teaching. But I skipped past it at the time due only to its title. (Again, I was looking for "How to Play" videos). And that's a shame as it's a better tutorial than the other videos I watched. Though I do agree with the most recent comment just below mine.

Hey bgm! Great feedback and thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'll keep these in mind. This was one of my earlier playthroughs and things have changed greatly in terms of how I Showcase a game now and break up the videos. I now start with a Solo Setup video, a Rules Overview Video and then move into the playthrough. I leave only situational rules to the playthrough now and explain as I go. When this video was done I was handling things a bit differently. Thanks for watching and glad to hear you're enjoying them! Cheers!

Why did you have to roll to increase your attack but not to increase your dex?

  • @RollingSolo

Hey Zirbip! The rules states that Dex is an auto increase if chosen. Atk and Def are tougher to upgrade and require a roll. Hope this helps!
