Tony Sly & Joey Cape - 27 July 2012 - Jacksonville, Florida

Музыка

UPDATE - 01 Aug 2012 - When I posted video this just 3 days ago, I never imagined that this would be one of Tony's last performances. I literally grew up listening to Tony and No Use For a Name. He and Joey had a really rough day on 27 July; as they were stuck in an airport for most of it (and Tony hated to fly too). After the show, he was in good spirits and I feel so blessed that I was able to talk to Tony this evening. I shook his hand and thanked him for all of the wonderful music that he has written and how it has gotten me through some rough times. He then assured me that No Use For a Name would be back to Jacksonville soon - as it has been 7 years since they have performed here. He told me to drive safe and I never imagined I would learn of his passing just 4 days later. Rest in Peace Tony Sly!
-----------------------------------------------------
This is about 75% of the Joey Cape (Lagwagon) and Tony Sly (No Use For A Name) solo, acoustic show at Jack Rabbits - 27 July 2012 in Jacksonville, Florida. Sadly, my battery was starting to die, so I couldn't capture the entire set.
Joey and Tony had a rough day and didn't even make it to the venue until after the show started (typical airport issues - they flew in from Maryland), but they still gave an amazing performance that I'll never forget.

Thank you so much for this. Mainstream culture may see Tony as a marginal influence but for so many of us, he was the voice of our adolescence. He spoke for us and to us and through us. And he will live on in his beautiful legacy.

As a teenager, I listened alot to Lagwagon and NUFAN (still do). But their acoustic stuff is even better IMO. Especially their solo-songs. Sad Bear is amazing. It's a shame the world lost such a brilliant musican. I remember when I heard the news, such a sad day :( RIP TONY!

Fiona Sly I hope this finds you well. My name is Brendan and I am a 40 year old from Brisbane in Australia. I know it’s a few days from the anniversary of your fathers death and I’m still gutted. I didn’t want to write on his anniversary but I wanted you to remember how special he was. I’ve loved and listened to his music since the mid nineties when I was in high school. I still do. Tony has touched my life like very few could. Smile and keep that love for him like I do. God bless you and RIP Tony.

No offense to the significance of this great video, but I just observed the dude at 33:58. To me, he looks like a hybrid of Richard Marx and Mark Hoppus. I've seen him a few times in this video and I couldn't help think that. Okay, now back to my crying....
