I loved him in Wings so much! The first time I watched Monk I really didn’t like Tony’s character. It took me awhile to get used to it but ended up loving the show. I recently started watching again from episode 1 so this movie is perfect timing. Honestly, I still don’t care for the extreme parts of the character and I fast forward through the parts where they draw out one of his OCD moments.

Monk is one of my wife's all time favorite shows! So glad for its return, if only for a movie. I have always been a huge fan of Shalhoub. I especially loved his role as Frank in The Siege. Not a typical role for him, but really showcases his chops and how his humanity just shines through every frame so effortlessly (but we all know probably takes a lot of prep and effort).

What killed the show for me was that his brother, played by John Turturro had the same quirks, tics and insecurities. Monk was supposed to have picked up his psychological disorders after his wife was murdered so why did his brother suffer them too? As a jackal I can't abide. (the Dude might, but not me!🤣)

The Packers are the only team that is owned by its fans and not some scumbag billionaire. There is a limit to the number of shares a person can own. As I remember, when they were doing some improvements, they issued some more shares which were sold out at 200-300 dollars per share. Many, like my brother and other relatives, bought one just to be an owner. Well, we grew up in Wisconsin. Probably Shaloub has some shares. The NFL has a rule now which excludes corporate ownership, which is good except that it includes non-profits. But the Packers were grandfathered in. Now the NFL only allows a limited number, 32 I think, private owners one of which has to have at least 30%. Towns who teams go away now know why. As to finances, the Packers are "The NFL's smallest-market team, and the only one that makes its financial results public." -- a local paper.

I kind of feel like the return of Monk ruins the point of the series. His whole shtick was that he became obsessive compulsive as a result of the trauma of his wife’s murder, and once he finally got the killer, he was relieved of that disorder, and that felt like a really good ending. Now it’s back and even worse, and that just feels disrespectful to the story as a whole.

@@joelnewman7677 One of the ending shots (perhaps the ending shot, it’s been awhile), had him pass by a group of sidewalk pillars that resemble the ones you see him compulsively touch, one by one, in one of the early episodes, (and also used in the intro), and he doesn’t touch any of them, like he expectedly would. That told the viewer that he was over his OCD, and that it was a result of his wife’s murder, and now that the killer was caught, he was alleviated of it.
