The man was so legitimately happy to be there at that Oyster bar. That's the reason we all loved him so much. Anyone can be a great writer and personality, but Tony lived it. He was authentic. I miss him.

I miss him, too. I have worked in f&b for most of my adult life, and I am certain Anthony Bourdain was the best representation of our industry. He still inspires me to this day.

I’ve watched this piece countless times. Bourdain had a way of taking swipes at people (in this case ‘nerds’) without said blow being a fatal one.
Watching this 6 years after it was posted and 5 years after his death. Still can't get over what a loss his passing was for this world

@Lazar MMA alcohol is one of the most potent depression causing agents in the world, next to benzodiazepines, hence alcohol being able to induce suicide. We are just biological machines after all. I take your point though, yes there is a viscous cycle here.

I grew up one town over from his hometown, but found myself in San Francisco for my first job out of school. I went to Swan Oyster Depot my first and last day in that city. On my last day I thanked the guy behind the counter for the great food and mentioned I only discovered the place thanks to Tony Bourdain. The guy’s face immediately lit up to pure joy at the bare mention of his name and we just shot the shit for a few minutes before I headed on my way. It’s a sacred place if you ask me
Anthony Bourdain looks so happy here. How I wish he could've pulled up some fond memories that would have magically made the darkness disappear.

I also noticed him saying that, I think we all did. RIP damn he was my favorite human being in the universe. I feel like the aliens only came to Earth to watch Bourdain eat and talk
My world got a little darker this morning upon the news of his death. Thank you Mr. Bourdain for your entertaining wit, your daring to go against the grain & for inspiring weekend chefs like myself to dare to be just a bit different & to try new and exciting foods. R.I.P.

Tomas Cruz holy shit your comments are so sad:((
Bourdain was a man who can talk on a frequency that everyone could be on and understand. And during the shows he hosted, gave good, honest opinions on the places he’s been too. And can makes us all laugh.
It's crazy... he'd talked about his last meal / dying over food several times. It really is eerie!!

Read Kitchen Confidential his first book, I’ve been a fan for 20 years and he probably got me into cooking. But it’s hard to get through more than 5 pages without him talking about offing himself or how pointless life is. It’s hard to get through
I’ve heard nothing but great things about this man. Kind, honest, generous, considerate, humorous…even off camera, from what I’ve heard. The world has lost one it’s very finest citizens.
I haven’t watched any Anthony Bourdain in a long while since his passing. Man how I much I miss his voice, the storytelling. I still remember when I found out, it was a weekend of camping and we were heading back home, I was driving and asked my friends to check if anything happened while we were gone after having no service for 4 days.

Thanks for all the iconic food shows you presented us. Hope you get good food in heaven. RIP chef.
Tony is one of those people that I was hurt the most to see go as a celebrity. He shows so much humility and love in his shows and it is sad how he went.
I always go back to his books and reread them. Such a loss when he left the world.
Crab back and a cold beer. That’s living. Thanks Anthony, I miss you.
His love to food was so deeply honest and elegant. I guess he would have loved Bilbao and his Pintxos. He loved the simple and fresh food with long tradition. The basic stuff and the special counter.I share his taste. No modern chairs or special lights to mislead. DEP Tony Saludos

I love _sourdough bread_ . Next time I'm having it with _UNICORN JUICE_ 🐎🚀🍹 Anthony Bourdain's shows were my fave. I started backpacking around the world in May 2016. I'm only as far as Asia (heading westward from San Francisco). Next week: Tibet, the roof of the world where I'll try and pass some photos to Anthony.

This was one of the places he went to in A Cooks Tour! Anthony is missed! It’s crazy how we never give people nor ourselves the opportunity to grow because we are belittled by others or even ourselves! Ones past is not their present! We move forward and don’t look back! Much Love
People who talk down on the city: "Catch Hands!" Anthony Bourdain gives his observation: **"This is the Highest Honor of My Life!"**
Had to wait over an hour for this place, totally worth it
Swan's Oyster Depo is truly a native San Franciscan's hideaway for the freshest seafood. Have to arrive early around 8am to get a counter seat, but that plate of Dungeness crab legs with a side of Louie sauce with some SF style sourdough french bread is to die for!!!!!!! 👍🦀🍺🥖

I still miss him till this day
It still breaks my heart every single day that that man is not with us anymore. He had such a love and zest for life that it was contagious. My love of food and travel. Became more apparent because of him. And yes living in San Francisco being a native San Franciscan. I can absolutely relay and he's right it has changed so much in the last 15-20 years that it's heartbreaking and I don't think that Anthony would recognize it. Now. But Swan Oyster Bar and Tonga room are definitely two of the places that are still intact still part of what I know as San Francisco and love about San Francisco. So thank you so much Anthony for being a part of our world here in the city and for being who you were because you were one of the best
I miss Anthony Bourdain. RIP Anthony Bourdain. You are gone, but never forgotten.
The crab fat with bread is amazing! I’m going back tomorrow lol
Gone, but never forgotten Anthony.
Best celebrity chef ever! God he's missed
Anthony, YOU will be severely missed. 😢
I happen to wander past this place the last time I was in San Francisco March ‘20. Was instantly drawn to it. Unfortunately was too crowded to get in!
Love that a bunch of this was shot at lake merritt lol
He’s still an icon!
RIP Tony you are a legend.
Went here, it’s amazing. The west coast oysters, the seafood pot, and oyster Bloody Mary.
We already miss you tony allot RIP a mans man.
The mares section of a Dungeness crab is the best bite of food on the planet and they just served Tony an entire plate of them.

I fled San Francisco in 1997 and The Swan is one place I really miss. Of course, Dutch Harbor Alaska, where I eventually ended up, is pretty good for crab also!
